im talking out of my bung but I agree, I would remove the bulk of the stock with a highfeed mill then a facemill to get it to tolerance, I dont know what tolerance he has to hold, even if you have to take it to the surface grinder it would be worth it
I'm with this school of thought. Mill material, grind flat if required, edm holes for some positional accuracy. But hey I'm just with the peanut gallery
Couldn't you use a larger diameter bar that is larger than the X shape, so you cam then slit on a saw, mill, or grind to thickness and then fast hole / wire in X profile. Was that the largest diameter bar they could get ?

Would it not be much faster to mill the material flat first? That would allow you to get ideal flushing with both nozzles?

How do you like your YCM milling machine I see in the background? Charles
if I machined logo into a carbon electrode could I use a EDM tap extractor to mark my parts?
Yes but don’t expect spectacular results
interesting, but i have to ask: why is wire EDM still the best method to make those parts?
Neat to hear about that.
