Back on March 7th, I took a '24 Street Glide for a test ride.
Didn't care for the feel or the digital look at all along with the gawdy looking plastic speaker grills.
Instead I settled on a brand new '23 Ultra Limited because I'm a fan of analog gauges.

2 weeks ago I went to my local dealer (2 hours away), with cash in hand. Walked out with a new '23. A part of that was the gauges. Among other items was the dual headlight vs. single, liquid cooling, mirror location, and general overall looks. The '24's took all of the Willie G. right out of the design.

Thank you for your videos Ryan they are so helpful. Harley definitely drops the ball when it comes to teaching, showing and or training their customer base with regards to things like HD ride planner or digital - infotainment control unit. I guess it’s osmosis., trial and error etc. We’re just supposed to magically know how things are supposed to work to their full potential. You would think if you’re spending between 25,000 to $50,000 on a motorcycle short videos would be like cheap, low, hanging fruit. Thank God for Law Abiding Biker and RUclips.

For all you pre-24 model folks…and especially pre-gts bikes…I just installed the Soundstream Reserve. HDHU14+ unit and it’s an absolute banger; at 1/4 the price of a GTS unit. Or you could go with the slightly more tech heavy HDHUsi version which is still 1/2 the price of a GTS. All the 2020’s tech you could ask for in a mid 00’s bike. Money well spent.

I bought the tutorial video from you. Normally I figure these things out on my own, but there’s an absolute return on investment with your video.
Harley did a great job with the 2024 Road Glide and Street Glide. When you see reviewers who are primarily sport bike riders giving great reviews, Harley did it right. A lot of traditional Harley riders are struggling with the screen. In part, that’s me. For Harley to gain market share with younger generations, these changes are imperative.

I still have a question that I’m not sure if you have come crossed:
Can you connect the passenger Harley branded Cardo unit to be able to listen to the Apple CarPlay? Or can they only listen to Apple Music through the Cardo app?
Thank you for all you do!

Just purchased the 2024 Street Glide, Im 68 and not tech-savvy at all. But I found the new infotainment system to be great and not as big a learning curve as I expected. Thanks for all the helpful information, its been very informative. I love being able to see the large digital gauges and being able to arrange the display. I just happen to get a new iphone at the time of purchase and already used Cardos. Im old school as well but made the leap and love everything about this bike. Bike is smooth, suspension is so much better, cooler on my legs and love having carplay. RDRS is worth every dime. No regrets best Harley Ive owned! Great channel keep the content coming on the new 2024 Street Glide. Thanks.

I have a 2020 Limited and was wondering what you replaced the OEM cover for? I have never really liked the push button gas covers and have not been able to find a decent replacement. Thanks for the updated information. Purchased your user videos and they were most helpful. I have the new IFCU purchased the beginning of March activated by Harley on the new bike. Was able to update the software for the amplifier and system myself. My IFCU doesn’t see my Apple i-phone 14 hot spot. It does see my in house routers. All my other computer devices in my house see and connect to my hot spot from my phone. I have the Harley branded cardo pac talk. Any suggestions? XM Sirius has an app that works with Apple car play as long as your phone stays connected. 😊

I have the 24. Harley now lets you download the map, requires the vin of the bike for the Nav upgrade. Also don’t forget that with the old system, you could do the ride planner easily but once you loaded it into the bike it would recalculate a different route, unless you used a ton of waypoints. So the old way wasn’t exactly awesome either.

Just bought a '24 Road Glide. It has the Skyline OS update. Part of the update was the addition of HD radio both on AM and FM.
I'm in a large metro area that has tons of HD stations broadcasting. When tuned to a HD station there are secondary channels that show on the screen. Problem is I can't access them. For example, a station will show HD 1 2 3 indicating there are two other channels available. My experience with HD in my four wheelers is that you access secondary channels by toggling the channel advance. When I try that the radio changes frequencies not available channels. I've tried everything and can't get to the secondaries.
    Any thoughts?

Can't use a CB in the new system either. I think I heard somewhere that there is a PTT button but no one knows what it is for. I know it's old technology but, the group I ride with still use it. We wear 1/2 helmets and some no helmets so the mesh network is not an option for us.

BUT, you missed the whole point I was trying make, we've had things on bikes for years and years, and they start removing things off of them and charge us more for less. Now with the 2024's, we can't even add what we've had on previous bikes.
Really I'm not trying to get into a pissing match with you over old technology vs. new. Some people like things differently than others and that's fine. I prefer the best of both worlds and definitely having options that I want.

My manufacturer updates my firmware, sometimes it’s free, other times it’s $50 at the dealership. My biggest problem is stable employees at dealerships. I tend to ignore the bells and whistles available on the dash. I just used a mounted Garmin gps unit. My phone is over 7 years old. It cost me about $600 for the Garmin and the mount. Installed it myself. I don’t want any distractions on the dash. That entire dash is a negative for me. Free map updates and firmware from Garmin. No bugs found on the Garmin.

The way he explained it was that you can't get it in a newly designed system...is the Honda system brand new or a carryover from previous years? It sounds like you can keep using it on existing platforms that had it originally so maybe that is why the Honda still has it? Just guessing based on what was stated. However I wouldn't ever put it past HD to just totally make things up :) or tell partial truths.

@packfan73 As far as I know and can find out, android auto has bluetooth integration disabled so your phone needs to be plugged in but it still is being developed for and updated.

@packfan73 Probably radio specific settings or app. I haven't found a specific "motorized 2 wheel" setting for either android auto or car play.

@@rollandklontz Probably, I just can't think of what would be '2 wheel' specific for either platform...handle bar controls are no different then steering wheel controls really, send a signal to navigate the screen to the radio. I am still on the 2012 Roadglide I purchased new and still happy with it, but… this new touring model has my eye in ways the Rushmore bikes never did. My dealer is trying hard to get me to ride one of the 24’s and I’ll probably give one a test ride.
Harleys track record on new tech and frankly new anything is sketchy at best. 14 and up infotainment as you mentioned, M8 oil pumps and sumping that took way too long to sort out.
My big concern is that everything about the bike goes through that screen. If that screen decides to glitch out, then what. Are we then sitting on a brick?
Not so bad if you are using the bike for bar hopping and close to home rides but if that dies in the middle of nowhere like a lot of riders travel, then what do we do.
I may buy a new one, I want some more beta testers to go through the troubleshooting process first.

It's not like the motorcycle takes different roads, or navigates them in a different way. There's always a way to make it work, Harley just has to be willing to do it.

So tell me professor - how does Honda have Android auto on their 2024 models if GOOGLE discontinued it for MCs? I've looked all over the Internet for Google not supporting AA on MCs and there is nothing out there. No bulletins from Google stating that fact and the only place you will find that info is onHD forums or HDs website. My guess is one of 2 things happened here - HD wanted to cut costs by supporting only 1 phone platform so they chose the fruit company OR AA isn't supported on Skyline OS which would make choosing this OS a terrible choice by HD.

Well, you missed the information I stated in the video. You see, Honda is using old head units already made with Android Auto in them previoulsy to being put in 2024 bikes.
