- Who would have thought that the first video on Jimmie Johnson for this channel would be a Bad Seasons one? 2018 was by far the worst season in Mr. 7-Times Cup Series career.

It was a very bad season for Jimmie. The cracks began to show in 2016 even though team #48 won the championship. He only notched 16 top ten finishes all season. After the Spring Dover race in 2017, Jimmie Johnson has been virtually nonexistent on track. 0 wins, 0 poles, 2 top fives, 11 top tens, 40 laps led and an average finish of nearly 17th is pretty bad.
Yes, you're right. He had a little spurt of greatness in 2017 and ever since his last win, he's been nonexistent. Barely has even contended for any wins since.
You can see how good a driver is that even winning his 7th championship he was already showing "the cracks".
Not that I disagree with you but he was REALLY good in the 2016 Chase, he would've probably won two other races there but had bad luck; before that it was the typical 48 summer slump.
@@LeonardoBruno54 Jimmie benefitted a lot from the Chase and 2016 was no exception. His numbers just weren't there other than the five wins. Homestead in 2016 was as lucky as they come for JJ. He was the worst of the four drivers that day. Wrecks, attrition, and strategy earned team 48 that victory. Really a typical JJ season has 5-7 wins, 13-18 top fives, 24 top tens, and 1,200-2000 laps led. Every great driver goes through slumps and eventually late career struggles. I don't think Johnson will ever win another championship, but I do think he has one or two great seasons left and five to eight more victories. I believe 2020 will be his "curtain call" season.
@@rolandjovi2433 I think most people mistake exceled with benefitted.
The most anticipated video of the "Bad Seasons" series.
This whole season was bad to start, but im still a die hard jimmie johnson fan
The past 2 seasons have been on the down for Jimmie. With this being Jimmie's last year with Lowes and Chad, next year might be even worse.
Let's be honest: Jimmie Johnson has been off the ball since his 2013 championship. 2014, he finished outside the top-10 in points, 2015, he got knocked out of the Chase after round 1, and 2017 he was just barely surviving. Heck, even in his 2016 championship season, he only got 16 top-10s; not even half the year. He managed to take advantage of the win-and-you're-in format, and he had 2 stellar races to get him to the final 4. (Both wins) Then in Homestead, he pretty much had his birthday, Christmas, and Easter all in one night. There are plenty of JJ championships I debate, but that one was hands-down a fluke.
nascarfanatic2425 I agree. He came out of nowhere in 2016. That championship is giving a false allusion that he’s been dominate. Sure he outperformed everyone else in the Hendrick stable from 2014 onwards, but he wasn’t absolutely dominating the Series. Tbh Jeff Gordon should’ve won more championships than four and Johnson should at the very least be a model of consistency as Gordon was. But we can’t always get what we want.
@@spectrelfc1152 I kind of disagree with outperforming everyone else at HMS in 2014. IMO, Jeff Gordon and even Dale Jr. were better in 2014. Sure, they all had the same wins, but Gordon and Jr. had more good runs that weren't wins than JJ.
Other than that, though, you pretty much hit the nail on the head.
I think Ally and his new Crew Chief might help him bounce back.
@@TJL_Racing I agree, Meendering is known for being quiet on the radio and really listening so that probably will help
Bad seasons: Dale Earnhardt 1992
Bad seasons: Rusty Wallace 1992
Good seasons: Dale Jr 2014
Good seasons: Kyle Busch 2018
Gone too soon: Davey Allison
Gone too soon: Clifford Allison
EDIT:
Gone too soon: Tim Richmond
Rustys 2003 season personally was worse than his 1992 season.
Camtheman 33 definitely Kurt Busch!
@Camtheman 33 I wouldn't say Mike Skinner is a bust. He won five races, all of which were unfortunately non-points.
Bad Seasons Denny Hamlin 2018, Good Seasons Kevin Harvick 2018, Good Seasons Alex Bowman 2018, Jamie McMurray can't get a win.
Dale Earnhardt worse season was 97 not 92
I think Jimmie was heading back to be a championship contender by the start of the playoffs but at the roval his mistake just hit him hard
This season was as bad as his Lowe’s for Pros scheme.
Limestone Butter I like it
Nathan Langseth Except most people do not.
I also like the Lowes for Pros paint scheme. It's black and it just looks mean. I never really cared for his 2002-2005 Lowes paint scheme (which made it's return in this year's season finale) though. Over the years, JJ has had some very nice paint schemes.
RolandJovi 24 I just hate it though. Awful design and the fact there’s no blue on a primary Lowe’s scheme is appalling. Kinda like making a Home Depot car, but making it green with turquoise and salmon blocks on the sides.
RolandJovi 24 Also think that Johnson’s 2002-2005 scheme is great.
Jimmie had a somewhat Decent Season, which is a Downgrade from where he was at before, where normally every season is a Championship winning season, or Championship Threatening season
Bad Seasons: Hendrick Motorsports 2018
Definately
Except For Chase Elliott
More like Bad Seasons: Entire Chevrolet fleet 2018
NTDC42 except fer Chase
Elliott had a good year
NASCAR BUSTS: RICK CRAWFORD, BOBBY HILLIN
First wins: Jimmie Johnson, 2002 (Cup) 2001 (Xfinity)
Bad seasons: Kyle Larson, 2018, Greg Biffle, 2006-2007
Chevy, 2018
Pontiac, 1996-1997
Michelle Sullivano I know it's tempting but I don't think Rick Crawford deserves a video on him. He should be forgotten. We can keep great moments like the 2003 Daytona finish, but his name should be forgotten.
Michelle Sullivano Roush Fenway Racing 2014-2016 have 3 bad seasons in a row
@@MegaMr46 And don't forget the 60 Xfinity car 2018 lol! You know it's bad when they can't finish ahead of cars like the 39, 51 or very much so the 4.
Bad Seasons: Jeff Gordon (2008, 2010)
I knew this was coming.
Good seasons: Chase Elliot 2019. It will happen
A good season video won't happen, championship though...
@@gamebreakers2535 Championship Seasons: Michael Waltrip 2019
Maybe even a championship season for Chase Elliott.
@@gamebreakers2535 you were a year off his championship seasons Chase Elliot 2020

Great I'll be at work again when this goes up..thanks for the premiere
Next video: Good Seasons: Aric Almirola. lets be honest he had a good season.
It’s crazy how this all happened so quickly. We’ll all miss Jimmie on the track next year.
Bad Seasons: Jimmie Johnson 2019
I've been a Jimmie fan since day one, this season was just an absolute shit show. Losing Knaus is gonna kill this team. I have a sinking feeling my favorite driver is retiring soon. 😞
I never in my whole life felt this massively heartbroken in terms of.... Really anything in sports..... This is almost as painful as Jeff Gordon's choke for the title in 2014....... I hope Jimmie will find his way back to his magic.
Huge Jimmie Johnson fan watching this right after Jimmie Johnson retirement announced. I wanna cry!
I hope he comes back in a big way in 2019! New crew chief, new sponsor= rebirth of his career!
ha ha ha, NOPE!
@@Steventhe2nd Yeah, that comment didn't age well at all!
Bad seasons- Clint Bowyer 2016
as a johnson fan, this season was hell 😩😭 especially the @ the roval bruhhh
Yes sir.
I was never really a huge fan of MTJ. Last year I got sick of him winning. After the Roval I now want him to have a season like Allmendinger's from this year.
@@rcracer8872 That's not what the discussion is about sir
@@rcracer8872 uh.....no. Read Jimmies starts again.
And we went double down this yr
Bad seasons: the Xfinity 60 car
I've been a fan of Jimmie's since '05. I believe next season is his year. Camaro's and Hendrick sucked this year. I don't think it is talent or ability as much as it is the car. While this year was disappointing (and heartbreaking especially at the Roval), all athletes have a down season or 2. I think new sponsor and new crew chief will be good for Jimmie and the 48 team. I am glad you made this video Darian!
I knew it was comin...
*Now we need you to do Good Seasons: Chase Elliott 2018*
Jimmie Johnson is the Tom Brady of NASCAR. His 2018 season is comparable to Brady’s 2008 season: a lost one.
Also the Lebron James and Albert Pujols of NASCAR considering that they were also great during the time that Jimmie Johnson was at his best
Jimmie Johnson 48 Champion yet Brady still is probably going back to the super bowl. He might be the Dale Earnhardt of the NFL and will be active playing until he dies.
To think... that spin in the Coca Cola 600 netted him a 5th place finish, his second and final top 5 of the year! I was shocked he had a season this bad, where he wasn't even a thought in the consideration pool. Jimmie finally had the season of humble pie.
i knew it was coming. it was pretty sad he couldnt win a race this year, but it was understandable because the camaros SUCKED this year, the only good camaro was chase elliott. i wanna see him win at least 1 race in 2019
Um... Chase Wasn't The Only Good Chevy In 2018, Larson Had 6 Second Place Finishes
the roval finsh still haunts me
I have God knows how many races that Dale Jr should have won. Breaking two long winless streaks then winning a Daytona 500 for the second time (after consecutive near wins in the 500 dating back to 2010) then sweeping Poncono and flushed the terrible Martinsville 2011 spring race finish away. The win at Talladega the next season to wash off the near wins of years past at Talladega in 2015. Beating Harvick twice for the win at Poncono in August 2014 and in November 2015 at Phenoix (also washing off the 2014 Phenoix Spring Race Finish).
2011 Coke 600 is by far the worst painful way to watch Dale Jr choke another race by fuel gage going to E from being a straightway from winning the Coke 600.
Now it's your turn to experience the agony. Rovel was step number one of many painful finishes to go.
I've Been Waiting On This For A LONG Time
Good vid😊 but you have to do one on Denny Hamlin too lol his 18 OMG
Good Seasons: Aric Almirola 2018
Hopefully next year, Jimmie Johnson in the Ally Financial/Kevin Meendering Era will be more promising for him...
Bad Seasons: William Byron 2018
Eric Fording he’s a rookie dude
Eric Fording
Can’t really do that for a rookie
@@JackCallSports well, Byron did worse than expected
RACINGFANFOREVER 9 23rd in points is no excuse for *anyone* at *Hendrick Motorsports* to get.
Jack Islanders 80 81 82 83 23rd in points is no excuse for *anyone* at *Hendrick Motorsports* to get.
I'll tell you what. It's the DANG CAMAROS
When Toyota switched body styles they shared info throughout all Toyota teams which made them able to catch up fast. Chevy teams don't work together like that. You'll never see HMS and RCR work together, thus we have the Camaro bombing out this year. Sucks, but nothing will make Legacy teams work together.
one word: chase has 3 wins this year
Beryllium 6 words*
Bad seasons: Denny Hamlin 2018
Right on time
I just fear Jimmie will be like Darrell Waltrip was in his final years of racing. I think having children and a few hard crashes make drivers more cautious and conservative behind the wheel. Never was a Johnson fan, but he's had a good career.
You should do Bad Seasons: Richard Petty 1989. He failed to qualify for 4 races and had a whole mess of DNF’s
Your commentary at the very end was very very low volume & could barely you but this video is still a 👍
I predict
Chase 4 wins
Byron 1 win at a plate track
Johnson 1 very popular win like Gordon and Stewart
Bowman 1 win
That's how 2019 looking like
They were expecting to have a typical season. Have a mediocre year. Luck into some wins and have an average finish of 12 to 15 then luck into the championship. Yep that's how his career went.
You could just make a bad season 2018 for 3/4th of Hendrick Motorsports.
Well they made slight progress even Byron with his abysmal car
We'll come back strong next season...
Hopefully...😢
I think your mic volume could be a bit louder. Other than that, pretty good video.
Jimmie had some terrible races in 2016 too but still came through in the chase
I usually watch the races broadcasted by FOX. Once we got to Talladega, it seemed to me that it was gonna be a bad season for Jimmie.
Great video,Jimmie did have a bad year
What I Liked About The 2018 Season:
Busch, Harvick And Truex Jr Dominated And Almirola Won A Race
What I Disliked About The 2018 Season:
Johnson And Larson Didn't Win A Single Race, It Was The Last Year Of Johnson, Knaus And Lowe's Paired Together And Logano Won The Championship
I was at that Dover race. I knew it was his best shot to get a win in 2018. I was shocked when it happened
i was so trilled
@@User-nu6km fuck you
Well this video was certainly unexpected!
Yeah I thought it would have been Christ like seasons: Jimmie Johnson 2018
You are awesome
I am not a Johnson fan, but I really wanted him to score a win this year. I felt terrible for him and his team that they just could not catch a break this year!
Black Flags Matter, can you request a RUclips Video: Good Seasons Kevin Harvick 2020 or Good Seasons Denny Hamlin 2020
I was waiting for this one.
hope he has a good season in 2019
Having watched Jimmie Johnson's last three seasons from the press box, I saw this downturn in performance coming long before anyone else. But even I didn't think he'd go winless this season (I predicted he'd win one race, very, very late into the season).
Even with the struggles of the Camaro, since Jimmie and Hendrick has been gradually declining in performance since 2014 and 2015 respectively, a season like this seemed imminent. Hopefully Jimmie can rebound in what will likely be his final 2 years in cup.
I can already sense a 2019 edition of this coming...
I love Jimmie Johnson but seeing him having one of his bad seasons Man that was tough but seeing him being close to win at the Charlotte Roval I thought he was going to do it next season he will do a lot better.
I hope he has a better season next year
This year has been quite bizarre.
I would recommend the following...
Bad Seasons - Kurt Busch 2012
Good Season - Aric Almirola 2018
Good Season - Juan Pablo Montoya 2009
Championship Season - Martin Truex Jr. 2017
I just hope Jimmie gets a win or 2 before 2020.
Poor Jimmie jam his coolest looking car and real bad results. Reminds of my boy Jr. Hard times
Johnson went on my Christmas card list for knocking that 78 out at the ROVAL. Which might I add was by far the best race of 2018 season
2019 was also bad. 2020 so far has been looking like an improvement. Jimmie needs a Win. Just one more win. Hopefully he can make it to Phoenix and get his 8th Championship.
Sadly, 8th championship is now officially out of the question. But 7 is still the ultimate threshold.
Only one more win or a few top 5’s or two is our last resort.
Being a Jimmie Johnson fan I want to forget this season
You forgot the race where NASCAR messed up and sent him to the back at the start due to a miscommunication.
I think you should do
Bad Seasons: Bobby Labonte 2005
Bad Seasons: Dale Jarrett 2007
Should've figured this Video would come out. Just like with Denny Hamlin 2018...
"I got my man, Jimmie Jam, coming to push me" - Chase Elliot 2018
Let's hope that Ally and Byron's (Now Former) Crew Chief can make Jimmie bounce back and get everything together.
Never been a fan of JJ but this losing streak is really surprising.

Jimmy had no BOOM CONFETTI!!! This year
Bad seasons Jimmie Johnson 2019 😞😖😭
This season was sick to my stomach with the way jimmie ran all season I'm hoping for the best next season in 2019
Good seasons Jamie McMurray's 2010 guy won the Daytona 500, the brickyard 400 and the bank of America 500 in the same year.
I think that Pocono crash shook him up.... oh well I am enjoying the Winless streak... Gordon all the way!
Will there be a bad season Denny Hamlin 2018 video?
While Johnson's 2018 sesson can be called "bipolar as all hell", i believe that we will see Johnson come back and win next year's championship with a championship seasons from Darian. Yes, a championship win after a bipolar 2018. No joke, fight me
Hes not even with Darian
I was at that roval race sitting in turn 4 the finish was good

Bad season: Hamlin 2018
I like how he is playing j cole in the beginning of the video.
Pretty excited for this one
Can we just acknowledge that so many of these were with Byron?
He should’ve won at ROVAL
2018 was a odd year with the performance of certain top drivers. Johnson, Hamlin and Larson all go without a win. Let alone having three drivers with twenty points races.
Well this video is a no brainer.
The cause of jimmie’s bad luck was Lowe’s signing off for 2019 and chad leaving that’s why
Will there be a sequel?
Do championship seasons Jimmie Johnson 2007 to balance it out
