Oh yeah, I remember T6.0 Kazuya VERY well. The mere mention of him on this reaction made me think about a deathmatch set between Mainstreet Ryu II and Taizo, Kazuya vs. Feng, respectively, and Taizo was DEMOLISHED throughout the set.
This Kazuya had the best version of his Hellsweep hookfist combo; the sweep doesn't trip outside of point blank, but it's still NC, so the whole thing is guaranteed nonetheless. And this also meant that the damage from the second hit wouldn't scale down since it connected on a standing opponent, not an airborne one.
Bounce options were also excellent, which makes sense considering the transitional nature of T6.0. db2, df12, both splits kicks, all viable bounce tools. It's just a matter of picking your poison.
And last but not least, the wall options. Holy baby Jesus, those wall options. If you carried your opponent to the wall after a bounce, which was easy thanks to df32, Kazuya's new 1243 string was guaranteed, and that shit hits like a Boeing 747. And if you bounced the opponent at the wall, your wall ender was the Rising Sun (uf4444), which also hit goddamn hard. Granted, all this was due to the wallsplat mechanics, which were stickier in this game (even T7 has nothing on this, and wallsplats in that game were lengthy), but the fact that these options existed was nuts.
TL;DR, yes, T6.0 Kazuya was indeed BRUTAL. Lol, such fond memories of playing this iteration myself quite a lot that I just had to type out this lengthy comment.

T4 Jin deserves #1 spot. He almost singlehandedly ruined the Tekken franchise forever. You have to remember that most of what made him so good was T4's system itself. There was no backdash cancel, and pokes did not push you back on block. Jin could literally lock you down and 2,1 over and over, mixing it up with wall pushes and laser scraper, and there was no way to backdash and space appropriately. Movement and spacing is the great equalizer in Tekken, otherwise it's just a paper scissor rock game where the best pokes win every time.
T3 Ogre and T5 Steve didn't cause even half the aggravation T4 Jin caused, especially coming off a game (TTT1) in which movement was everything. Only Nina could hang, and that was most because Hayashida step could be used to create space.

A characters tier/brokenness shouldn't be judged on execution but what can be performed at peak level.
I agreed with TMM's opinion about Akuma. Yes, he is very strong but to reach that point, you did really need to have a lot of precise execution and skills to perform it.
At the beginning of their video they say "it doesn't mean MOST powerful character, but breaks the rules of that game" which Akuma fits absolutely perfectly. Launching off a 10f punish, invincible shoryuken, etc. I think "broken" fits there pretty well. You reference many times "you could argue the BEST is..." but they explicitly said the most RULE BREAKING character. Steve fits better than Bryan in T5 because of the way Steve operates differently from the other members of the roster.
Just wanted to add that because your point almost always references the "best" when they explicitly said that wasn't their goal of the video.

If listened to the esports guy he clearly states "fundementally breaks the game not just overpowered" words to that effect, which TMM which main man clearly neglects to remember and or even acknowlodged ( excuse my poor spelling my apoligies ) now providing TMM had kept the audio on he could base an arguement and a clear point based on the agreement or disagreement through both sides on which one has clearly been neglected and as such TMM's point is kinda not legit as it should/could be. on to my next point the fact the he wont even listen to the point/reasoning is reasurring me that he is either arrogant for presuming his opinion is the only correct one or he is ignorant because he is unwilling to even atleast listen to reasoning/points being made on which there are valid ones. once again i dont disagree with everything TMM says, I just think its a shitty mindset to have, given the type of content he makes it is almost contridictive if not completely so, given the fact that nobody knows everything so we all have room to learn and improve.

I put T4 Jin over T5 Steve, because he doesn’t even need unblockable JLFS to win. It just puts him over the top. He can win with 1,2 and 2,1 and a few lows.

Honest to god bro, if a character is execution heavy, that doesn’t make them any less broken, it just means you gotta put the time in to make them as broken as you can, because there are still characters that don’t need tons of execution and they aren’t doing crazy amounts of damage characters like Akuma or Kazzy or Geese are doing no matter how much you practice. as a Josie Rizal player isss no from me dawg
Then you got characters like Lee who need just as much execution as Akuma yet nowhere near as much damage.
They are less broken, though. You're less likely to run into someone who can exploit Akuma than other broken characters, so if you had to rank them, Akuma would be lower on the list.
There’s a video of a t6 vanilla version match where Takeyama (Bob) fought 2nd Generation Mainstreet Ryu (Kaz), where the two battled it out to become Japans 1st Tekken Lord. The video’s old but is a good example of how strong Bob and Kaz was back then.

You really did miss he point of their video. Collin expisictly said that these are not all op characters, but rather characters who fundamentally break the game. And Akuma as a 2D character I think is perfectly fit for that.

@@Jonathan-cz4ky I know he watched it. He still missed the point of the video. They werent sinply including overpowered characters throughout he years, but some that simply breal some of Tekken's fundamentals, which I dont think I need to explain why a 2D SF character does that in a Tekken game.
Kris Bojin the only character they included with that mindset of “fundamentally breaking Tekken” was Akuma, the rest of them they ONLY talked about how op they were lol and even with akuma they said it as if the brokenness of the 2D animations was op. TMM knew this and still wouldn’t have put akuma in the top 10, not only that but HE WATCHED THE VIDEO like what is wrong with you? Stop acting like you knew that too you clearly didn’t 😂😂 he even stated that he doesn’t think that his “movement” is broken because the way to even utilize said movement is extremely difficult. So while it’s in the game, only the best can ACTUALLY use it to where it is actually broken and unfair lol. And then said that is why he wouldn’t have put him on the list. Did you notice the other characters? They have moves and abilities other Tekken characters didn’t have too, having the only electric, the only sidestep lmao.

Yeah. Akuma deserved to be on the list. I don't think him being more difficult to use should make him unbroken. He may not even be that difficult to use to someone who's used to playing him in street fighter, so whats to say about that? A lot of people don't need to play him to make him broken, especially when he can run through MFs in major tournaments.
He playes totally different in Tekken 7 than in street fighter.

The combo route isn't really hard to do I agree, especially when you try other 2D fighting game. The only thing hard is doing it in actual matches.

I think T4 Jin was the most broken, not in a game mechanics standpoint, but in a gameplay enjoyability standpoint. T4 Jin broke his game more than T3 Ogre, T5 Steve, T6 Bob or Lars, or anyone else. T3 was still fun and groundbreaking despite Ogre. T5 was still fun despite Steve, and we got DR later anyway. T6 was still fun despite Bob, and we got BR later anyway. T6BR was still fun despite Lars. But T4 was already strange and broken by itself, and T4 Jin just pushed T4 further to totally not be fun to either play or watch.
You do realize that later on in T4 they have exposed Jin and they found Nina to be the mvp of tekken 4 right? Sure Jin had a "Broken" move and a few other but it was not a auto win. For JFLS to work you would need to counter hit the opponent or land the first 2 hits and charge the 3rd hit, but other than that you could side step the jfls which wasn't really hard to do

Because if you eat the attack you eventually get pushed back enough to the point where you get a turn again, with Steve if you get hit there's nothing you're going to be able to do, and he will hit you because of his sidestep. Both are basically death, but at least you get an extra chance if king hits you when your health is full 🤣

I used to shut down that just frame laser scrapper with Law and Bryan. Laws Fakestep and Bryan's Parry made them think twice.
From the first minutes you can see that TMM does not get the real topic of the video.
Akuma is not broken because of the strength. He's broken due to Meter, cancels and fireballs. He's breaking the common rules of previous tekken games.
Finally the MainMan has spoken why there is no Leroy in the list
Knee said "ever I play against akuma and geese I am in disvantage, Akuma and geese are op and now leroy, tekken isnot tekken anymore". The fact that the character have a difficult execution make him less OP? Is common sense this broke the balance of a game.

Nah akuma totally deserves that spot, he has things that none other has in tekken 7, on top of that he generates huge amount of damage out of a 10f punish, also lets not forget his offensive moves that do have build in defense/evasiness. Regarldess broken means something that is not common between other characters while its strong or overall does not follow the game physics/rules creating something unique that is not accessible from other characers while the one who does use it can put him on a huge advantage or create an enviromment that favors him. Also since they included all tekken games this list could easily be bigger , even 20 or 30.

@@yibro3360 here are a few words, tekken right now its at the peak of competitive gaming, multiple countries participated not like before a few years ago which you were seeing the same people over and over which the stage was looking like someones backyard, and there was one character (akuma) that moved the entire pro community and dedicated itself to learn this match up while the character still went to the finals and won. if that is not enough to call it broken while it uses unique moves that no other character has or overall follows the rules of tekken then idk which character to include, especially if we want to include tekken 7 in the list. and yes leroy could have been in it, but he hasnt seen real competitive matches besides some early tourneys.
iTechGaming GR it would be great if Akuma got some nerfs in the next patch, but it’s very clear to everyone that Leroy needs some serious nerfs. Akuma’s playstyle does require a lot of execution to really use him, but anyone right now can pick up Leroy and climb very easily.

In T7 standards akuma is godlike but if used by a pro, if you gave akuma Leroy level execution he'd be banned probably.

I think the point of Akuma being ün the video is not to say he is strong af, it is to say he literally broke the game, 2d character in a 3d fighting enviroment, his jump his way too high to be balanced, bar system and such. yeah he is strong too, but he broke the game without being strong

It's kinda funny seeing the "Where's Leroy?!" comments in chat. An excellent point was made at number 10, and it goes for Leroy too. He was stupid powerful on launch, but he had absolutely zero on characters like T4 Jin, T5 Steve and T1 King.

That's what I was thinking. Everything King has, including the busted Elbow Smash, plus both of the Mishima wavedash uppercuts.
Arcade Akuma definitely deserves to be on the list. They didn't specify that though so that was a problem but Arcade Akuma was top 10 broken for sure

Mario can be good, but he’s definitely not top tier
Buff Meta Knight results wise and competitive usage wise he can be argued for being a top tier, having amazing movement and fundamentals with a very solid matchup chart and good results over many players.

HIGH SKILL CEILING DOES NOT EXCUSE OR BALANCE OP/BROKEN STATUS. At the top levels (AKA pro scene) they all have the execution and thats where you can see characters that stand above others. Look at the havoc Akuma has caused there. Listening to genuine top players like Knee say Akuma/Geese is a problem is all the credence you need.
Did you not listen to the first sentence they said. Akuma broke rules of tekken. Doesn’t matter how hard it is to do, the fact that Akuma is added to the character list in itself adds an element of counterpicking especially for people who aren’t used to his visually unorthodox fighting. Not the strongest, but fundamentally broke the game. It’s a different conversation you’re having than this video you’re reviewing is having
The original video stated that Bob was buffed in T6BR. I was pretty surprised when I heard that to say the least.

The problem is the execution.. he said that.. there are moves that are crazy, but only few people can actually do the proper execution of those moves..

Difficult execution doesn't make a broken character not broken. It will only make the barrier to play them higher. Balance only really matters in high level play anyway.
