I thought about this too. His orbital is great against akuma’s d3 and d2. Akuma’s fireball is -14 which Leroy can 1+2 because of that. He has an i12 counterhit mid launcher to stop Akuma mashing on d12. His d1+2 contest akuma’s neutral extremely well. Idk how his anti airs are but if they are good, he’s probably very strong against Akuma.
I swear there's no way they didn't realise how OP he was while making him. Maybe it's some kind of ploy to generate more hype around the character and/or boost sales post release, with planned nerfs down the line. I mean does he really need a top tier hellsweep on top of all the other crazy shit he already has 🤦♂️
Leroy mirror matches would actually be kinda hype. They both have the same broken stuff, but whoever can utilize his parry timings better will most likely be the victor. It would be sick.
Negan was actually not too bad on release.. ppl relied on slow moves but his jab strings and his pushing mid was strong. The funny thing was that when pro players actually labbed Negan and discovered his potential he got buffed bc of his bad reputation on release, making him a very solid high tier character in the late season 2 scene.
The difference is people liked negan even tho he was low tier on release as he was fun, unique and charismatic. When people like a character enough to play them regardless of tier, they will surely get buffed to get more people playing them. That's exactly what happened to negan. Even though he was released low tier, people liked him so he was buffed and became more popular. Leroy however, was released broken and uninteresting. People immediately hated playing him and playing against him. No amount of nerfs will get people back on the leroy train as players will always be reminded of when he was broken. Compared to negan players who can cherish the fact that he got buffed. Namco should've released Leroy as an interesting, fun, low tier character and slowly buffed him with the community's blessing. Just as they did with negan, who is way more popular than leroy now.
Every Tekken DLC Character is purposely released broken in order to make more people play him online, make more streamers make video with them, and so drive more purchases of the character. Over time they all become nerfed back down to be competitive. Namco are hesitant to completely nerf akuma as akuma is a major selling point of the game, so having akuma's at tourney is great for them
It’s incredible that I’m losing to a bunch of low level ryujin Leroys when I’m a tgp, and I know for a fact they’d lose if they were using their usual mains
He's definitely OP ive been fighting him alot and at times I've just been standing there wondering what to do because if you make a mistake you're basically dead. He has a bit too much keep the tech tone down the dmg.
haha, but then Bruce Lee (Law) is not OP in Tekken, and we know Bruce Lee surpassed his master in both real life and in movies. So Leroy should be weaker than Law in that sense. This means a huge balance (nerf) is mandatory for the proper lore. Leroy is pure Wing Chun, so he needs to be notably weaker than Law. Plus, in the 21st century, there is no way a black guy can find anyone to teach him anything authentic, so Leroy really should have some wacky, silly Hollywood kung fu.
@@Viewer13128 - I agreed with you until the last part. All the authentic Kung Fu is in China where Leroy spent the last 50 years of his life. There is no reason he should have "hollywood" kung fu, he would have found true masters to teach him in China.

I think the sad part about having modern fighting games update so often is that you lose a lot of the legacy. I can't go and show anyone SFV when Ryu was broken tier season 1, or when Nash ruled the meta. I can't go and show anyone season 1 D. Jin in Tekken 7, or season 2 Akuma/Geese. Its a damn shame. @@JazzBoiiFGC You laughed at your own joke. Good lord. He's OP, I don't care if he's a boss character, but OP is OP, doesn't matter the level of it. I literally do not even want to play ranked right now. I'll wait until hes finished.
It doesn't take keen observational skills to determine that having huge damage output, tons of ways to get into that damage, huge punishes, dangerous lows, great poking, great distance closing attacks, strong panic moves, and an incredible parry add up to a very strong character. And that's all only surface level stuff.
I think that this was their plan from the beginning, everyone will buy the character cos its really good, and then after they made a lot of money here come the nerfs Great business strategy to pay for a 3rd season.
Halsho Zangana i think that the point of akuma and geese was to attract people from 2d games, and since they didnt want to disrespect the characters and the other companies by making them weak, they made them pretty good, i think akuma was just bad design, they had no idea the character was this good even after the arcade nerf.
Nah man. If somebody is going to play Leroy because he's op it means he's at a high enough level, that means that he would have bought him anyways just to study the frame data.
"toned down" is an understatement. his uniqueness is the wing chun parries. he cannot have signature moves from other characters. if he keeps them, they need to be clearly inferior. having equal versions would still make leroy a boss character. also, he should be a defensive oriented character. he is too good at offense. aside from that long range ch mid, he also has a super long range high ff3 like claudio's but leroy's is homing. the character is so strong you can literally play it however you want.
@@buddydabney2266 give haters a reason to love lol. and my comment is 2 weeks old. more bs has come out regarding leroy, and you actually posted this 5 minutes ago? there are literally (legit) videos explaining in detail how broken leroy is that were recently uploaded.
Well it looks like Tekken starts applying Blizzard's business model. Release OP DLC. Everyone buys em, once the barrel is full of them cash, nerf the character. And bring out the new sugarcane (Fakhumram) and the loop goes on. Not too shabby
They made him broken on purpose to cash in on the hype and release him after the TWT so as not to affect the tournament scene. Fahkumram will come out in time for the start of the next TWT season so I expect him to be fair on release.
We'll see about Fahkumram, he has those guard break moves lol (though they look quite slow, and are probably high, which would make them effectively snake edges)
@Angga Antonio I forgot about Evo Japan then as it's still a new tournament but I think they care the most about TWT tournaments which don't start till April.
I was super excited for Leroy when he was announced, he's repping my home state New York. Mainman didnt even show the damage that can come from his Hmt auto parry low into his guaranteed wall bounce. AS IM WRITING THIS I JUST REALIZED... you have to be insanely careful with challenging his hmt stance. If you throw a mid or high, Leroy can cancel his hmt into b+2 for a parry. If you decide to throw a low, auto parry into guaranteed wall bounce... its just... insane. And I play him.
This is why I have mad respect to TMM. He is just so honest. He doesn't use broken characters to his advantage, but instead exposes them for it to be balanced.
They need to give a clean hit property to his Pimp Sweep so he can’t do it from so far away; make it knock down at range 0. That’s how Paul’s demo man is balanced because otherwise the rest of the string isn’t safe at all on block. Fix that 12f safe mid CH launcher. It makes Kazuya’s df2 look useless. It shouldn’t be just -5 on block. At the very least, -12. Maybe even more than that. Tone down the frames on his orbital. Everything else MainMan said I agree with too, but these are the main ones I want fixed for sure.
Even so he will still be broken, the hworang low is even better IMO and you can't SS the mix up at all, you need to guess. 11 frame mid that you can hit confirm or just do first hit? a parry option+his stance low parry option? and the 3,4 low? he's just insane. Nerfing him would require a full rework since everything he has is broken
Drunkengaming yeah. Like, it’s a straight up guess because it requires no wavedash/movement and it’s got insane range. At least when Kazuya wavedashes in your face and you eat a ff+3, you were expecting a hellsweep and therefore you got mixed up. Leroy just presses one button and it’s either you are ducking (which is a dumb idea with all his strong mids) or you eat the hellsweep with huge pushback on hit. Edit: I agree on the rework. When they reworked Negan for season 3, it seemed much more complete. I just hope it doesn’t take an entire season to fix Leroy.
Kazuya's 14f mid CH launcher tracks both sides and has 2-3x better range. Leroy's 12f CH mid is broken without a doubt even with the shitty range and poor tracking. Doesn't deserved to be unsafe but at least and most be -9, -5 is too broken for it's frame and CH property.
@@PedoGT -9 makes it safe anyway, for a fast panic move that gives a full combo it definitley at least deserves to be -11 Kazuya doesnt have 10 other launch options like Leroy does
@@JazzBoiiFGC shut up idiot ur probably a leroy player who plays him on autopilot, wait till leroy gets in tournament he will DESTROY everyone in this state
Those machin gun punches aren’t going to jail anymore. They are going to make orbital more unsafe. Pimp sweep is not going to be homing and they are going to slow it down by a couple frames. Just a few things I think they are going to change
I'm pretty sure a lot of nerfs will be dismissed on purpose like what was done with Akuma and he will still be broken. Developers seem lost on how to balance the game.
I mean, basically Leroy is 60/70 year old Crow from Def Jam and he is top tier in that game too. Idk if it's just me, but the design of him seems a little similar to crow as well.
Lol I’ve been trying to tell people but Nobody wants to hear it. Most are saying he’s to new to judge but the amount of tools and frames on them alone tells the whole story.
When people say he's too new to judge but the practice mode includes frame data, range readouts, and damage counter to let you know he really is that busted.
Me too man! I said a while back he looks broken and it makes me glad I dropped the game. I legit got called a bitch, scrub, etc. Funny how everyone agrees now
TMM 3 days ago: "Leroy Full Breakdown, Top Tier But Not Broken | Sugar & Pimp Cane" TMM today: "Day 3 Verdict: Leroy Is Completely Broken, Basically A Boss Character"
I said this on reddit. He is broken to the point where he's not even fun to play in actual matches (for me). I wanted him to be balanced out. This was the same reason why I dropped dragonov right away. Kind of a different story, but you get the point.
I was hype for Leroy because I thought he would take some amount of skill to play but now I just don't want to see him anymore lol. He's basically a scrub character
@@rb4916 Right. I've thought about nerfing myself by not using pimp cane or certain moves. I'd rather just play other characters. I've been neglecting season 3 altogether anyway.
Play literally any other fighting game right now and you'll love Tekken more. It's also easier to tune something down than up. An awful character can be broken with a small frame adjustment, but a broken character can only become awful if they overshoot it. That's why Akuma is getting slow incremental nerfs instead of getting dumpstered.
Thats how modern games are: they add new content that is so op just to raise the hipe. Nerf/bans follows. But people like it like this so... at least wing chun sucks in real life lol
FINALLY! Someone is talking sense about Leroy. I've lost to so many Leroy players in ranked and player matches because of the fact that they're acting like assholes with him. Leroy users basically limit themselves to about 6 moves. I don't have him so I don't know his commands, but I think we can all agree that his parry, orbital-like kick, the sweep kick to punch combo and his low-high natural combo are all moves that they abuse online, and his parry can get around shoulder attacks. Really? What made Leroy an exception to the rule regarding parries? He needs some serious nerfs, honest to God. I get really thick from playing online sometimes because of him.
@@simpleclonetrooper2740 I don't think so. There are so many very good players in Asia. I mean the tekken level is a lot different, I'm sure a mighty ruler in Asia can beat tekken king or above here.
Broken boss character maybe, but not quite broken SNK boss syndrome character. He should have a gimmick where the opponents inputs are listed in command history in match. Also He should have an AI that breaks throw and auto blocks lows. Also he might need even more invincibility frame on his genocide cutter. His damage is pretty much at nightmare geese, omega rugal level though.
What did you expect? Leroy was insanely hyped from the beginning, so releasing him with a mediocre or bad moveset would certainly upset the community. On top of that: Good characters sell better. Everyone wants to be OP and as such Leroy was made just that to push sales. Leroy is new and beloved. Two factors that go hand in hand on the way to OP-ness.
Bryan's orbital heel actually recovers faster by three frames. Thus Leroy's orbital heel is much more easy to whiff punish. Not saying a lot but still. I've also heard that Bryan's is a bit evasive but supposedly so is leroy's but i haven't researched this myself.
I made a comment about VF on one of your videos to basically show that, yes, there's people that play it still, just like people who play Tekken. You never replied due to the knowledge dropped of how a 3D game should actually be played. That was on your vid in which you show VF4Evo gameplay. I actually got to play Final Tuned which was JPN only release here in NYC.
It drops facts about VF always teaching advanced stuff from the get w/JDCR needs to explain jabs and tutorials calling fundamental moves, "Generic". Only called generic to the Tekken community if it's not granting NH combos, and advantage on block that doesn't allow defenders to evade because frame data should effect a universal mechanic like moving and a characters' size effecting their sidestep. VF doesn't hold players' decision making back with trivial concepts. That's not skillful. There's just a lot of dancing for 2 mins before someone decides to walk up for a mix up. Elbows on block aren't all -3 universally, some people have spammable DF1s on top of odd movement and frame data that doesn't let characters do a balanced option of DF1'ing back on -1 DF1s. Has to be something predictable like Jab, or Dick jab.
Inb4 someone tells me movement was better in old Tekken. It was but that's like choosing to live with Lenin or Stalin. Just s lesser evil. You guys don't get it. We've had plenty decent Tekken folk feel lost at VF but VF players grasped Tekken faster than Tekken players grasped VF basics. If Tekken didn't ignore its known technical issues, Tekken wouldn't be considered this game that's so hard, you need to sell your soul to Aris. It's unwarranted difficultly that Harada admitting to doing to pad the playerbase's progress and halt it. Tekken could easily be in VF's shoes. Stop showing, "Respect" for VF and play it dammit. Make your voices loud using your platform to get a VF6 or 5FS port. We'll all see the who's the true fan then.

Halsho Zangana akuma was a launch character you absolute dweeb

I just realised that they released leroy near the release of Ip Man 4, nice move namco

B1+2 is fine it has super shit range maybe make it 13 frames or something but not -12 or so alot of chars got safe ch tools
