i think i finally understand why tekken is so hard
like imagine, you finally get the 100 hours to understand 70% of your character
you then have to learn how your character interacts with every other good character in the game
    but then
    oh no
    whats this
    your opponent is playing PANDA
    you start sweating
thats not akuma, thats not a mishima, thats not dragnov you were even prepared for a geese
you have every meta matchup known
but you get hit with the 300 pounds of pure fluffy terror
    you load into the match
its ok, this character is trash you say
    smirking in confidence
    BAM panda uppercut
    37 dmg
    youre on the ground
Bear crawl, low low low low low low
    youre in the blender now

These seem like handicaps but to me it's just things you need to be aware of and work out alternatives. Heihachi's strength is pressure so you also don't need to focus on whiff-punishes as much as the other Mishimas. If you can't get a WS 2 punish, maybe you could try like a WS 4 and come up with something while you have the frame advantage, for instance. His d/f+1,2 doesn't give amazing oki but you can still follow it up (and if you're using d/f+1,1 to keep them honest then it's just on you to play smartly with it and not have it ducked).
I play Heihachi better than the other two Mishimas, I think. His strengths feed into how I play Tekken moreso than the other guys. I know he has some holes (bad WS options and weak lows) but what he excels in feel comfortable to me.

The frame data for moves like f,f or f,f,f or ff* do not count the frames. So when he says the fastest the electric comes out for Hei is 14 it is because the directional inputs usually count as 1 frame each - so electric is 11 F + 1 Frame for forward input + 1 frame for neutral + 1 frame d,df input

You say “if you get there early enough” but most people have to travel to the tournaments and some of the times internationally! Very difficult to get there “early enough” let alone even have time to warm up in your hotel room before the start of a tournament.

@@Jonathan-cz4ky yes we all know of people who have trouble in customs like arslan and gets to the tournament late or as soon as it starts which sucks and is out of his control. But if you are traveling to a tournament then you should definitely plan to have enough time to arrive comfortably, get settled, eat and warm up. Especially if traveling internationally, flights are delayed all the time, should plan to arrive a day earlier. For locals don't plan to arrive as soon as the tournament begins, I try to get to my locals hours in advance and a lot of people are already there waiting for it to begin and warming up. I've been to a lot of locals on the east coast, tri state area and they are all like this no matter the travel time. Maybe it's different in europe

    • @Jonathan-cz4ky
      @Jonathan-cz4ky 4 года назад

Grant Barbour There lies the problem though, many people have to work around their own schedules, some people work, some have kids, some have school. And of course there’s the issue of financial ability to book flights, (other days are more expensive than others and hotel prices vary greatly). Sure it’s awesome to plan ahead, but not everybody has the same luxury and there tend to be other complications that are out of their hands.
