You are right, this has massively helped Joe, because while Joe is a nice guy, he is not a natural and lacks charisma behind the camera, so this will really give him a boost and it's early days and people certainly get better as they go on.

I do a few videos and I know they could be better but I only have a bike a couple of hours so its hard to cram it all in and be fully happy. Plus if he has a full time job it again takes so much time.

I think Freddie and Joe have to be careful what they say on social media for legal reasons. But we can all see the history of the Bonneville and what Joes has found. We can make our own minds up on the cause and previous mechanics.
They should be utterly ashamed and should have come forward to explained and amend. How embarrassing for them, so many things wrong, all school boy errors. But the good thing is Freddie and Joe have got some great content of it, it’s hot me and my Mrs hooked.
Good to see a proper engineer, not just a technician/parts changer but someone who actually understands the workings of a motorcycle and is able to explain it in a way that is logical. Joes channel is superb, glad you both got together, can't wait to see the final results 👍
You can understand how the bike was truly uneconomical to repair for sure. Its only a labour of love to keep your old girl running and fortunately Joe's kindness in helping you. How could we all chip in even if a small amount a coffee or something with every subscriber would help?
Interesting how Joe's work, besides actually fixing the issues, consisted in investigating and finding those faults left over by the previous butchers who've wrenched on the bike. He's really good at what he's doing, plus an extra. Freddie, go for the louder exhaust! :) and a bit of customization cannot hurt.

I'm so glad I've discovered Joe's channel. As a JCB mechanic who tinkers with the occasional bike, Joe's experience and knowledge is incredible. It would have taken me many many more hours to get to the point he's at now. Watching the repairs have also inspired me to repair a non running Kawasaki Er5 I got during lockdown and put in the back of the garage. I discovered yesterday low compression on both cylinders. So it's going to be a bigger fix than I imagined.

Your Bonneville and other classic motor bikes are so much more interesting than the newer styles plastic ones. IMO these have a timeless style. and well worth fixing. Mechanical knowledge is sooooo important!

The world needs more chaps like Joe. I had a mechanic who looked after my first car and helped me keep keep it on the road in a similar way. I was too young or naive to appreciate the value of what he did for me at the time, 40 years ago. Glad to hear that Bonnevilles are so bullet proof as I’m not planning on selling mine, it will probably be my last bike due to age 😅
Same here. I'm 81 and have had my present Bonnie for 15 years now and it's never let me down once apart from when it ran out of petrol due to me not realising it was switched to "reserve". Brilliant bikes.

Freddie, you’ve hit the pot of gold with Joe. A good wrench is a blessing from above. The old Triumph is gonna be what you’ve wanted all along. A modern classic bike. Whatever the cost it’s gonna be worth it. Make all the changes. Be like a Harley guy and customize the hell out of it. You won’t be sorry. But honestly, you need to spend time in the shop with Joe and watch what he’s doing so you can get knowledge about all the things that are being replaced and why. You will be able to check problems as they arise if you have an understanding of the systems. When you get that bike back you will never want to buy another. And every test bike you ride will be compared to it. And they all will loose.

I love watching Joe! He is an old school mechanic, not a modern parts changer. He is logical and methodical. And then there’s Freddie. Pure emotion and just enough logic to understand Joe. Joe and Freddie both understand that there’s a huge difference between “can it be fixed” and “does it make sense to fix it”. This is the best of both worlds.
It’s been lovely following along and I hope the Bonnie will be up and running soon. Joe seems not only got be a nice chap but also a very sound mechanic. But for the love of all things mechanical Freddie, take a weekends worth of mechanical courses! Surely you now understand the value of being able to do some things yourself (and properly)? Not to get you on Joes level but to be able to maintain what in essence will be a brand new bike.
Not much better in the world of motorcycles than rebuilding the bike you love. Please take advantage of this process. Definitely upgrade the fork springs to a progressive spring rate at the minimum or a full rate drop in cartridge. You better install that beautiful new exhaust. The vintage moto style bars will spot on cool & a better ergonomic position for touring. Delete the snorkel, run the open intake and get a rain sock for when you get caught in the wet. Such a great project. 🍻
That Bonneville is obviously a dear old friend to Freddie, not just a bike in the garage. How much more satisfying must a total rebuild/refresh be than buying a new machine. Good on both you fellows!

This episode is just highlights how different motorcycling has become….. certainly up to the 80s, pretty much everyone that owned a bike had mechanical skills are they soon learnt…. Through manuals through friends….. often a few friends would get together and help each other… and of course bikes were lower tech….. today they are complex machines with all the sensors and gadgetry, and many owners don’t want to get their hands dirty or have the knowledge…… I’ve lost count of how many engines I prepared right down to the crankshaft, and up to, and including my 40s cars…… by then I was earning enough to pay someone to make repairs to my vehicles…. Anyone owning any vehicle today without mechanical knowledge, and wanting to keep it longer term have to consider the need for deeper pockets
Price wise is same here, Canada. Whenever you see nice old cars, trucks and bike on the road it is mechanics who own them. Have been enjoying the revival your bike, he is a excellent mechanic and good guy. Your Bonnie is going to be better than new when done.

Absolutely loving this and of course I'm now on Joe's channel. Working my way through all of the videos both Freddie's and Joe's. It also giving me some appetite for a Triumph twin, I used to have a Speed Triple RS and had a loaner Thruxton RS which was great fun
Hello Freddie. Great video as usual, thank you. If I may, I would like to say something to you. I say this with the most respect to you and in no way am I trying to be harsh about it. As a fellow motorcyclist you will understand where I'm coming from. I hope this is a lesson for you on the importance on future maintenance of your motorcycle. Most of us do our own maintenance because it saves money and most importantly it makes us feel good, and Obviously so we can continue to ride our motorcycle. My advice would be either have some kind of deal where Joe works on your bike or learn on your own. I understand it can be intimidating but we all started somewhere, and I believe you would find satisfaction on working and maintaining your motorcycle. Can't wait for the Bonnie to be back on the road. Ride safe.
Not everyone wants to work on a motorcycle but maintenance is essential. If you can't do it yourself get it serviced regularly. The other point is the amount of equipment you need to service yourself, and how much time you have free.
Better that Freddie doesn’t try to do his own work on his bike, he would need to become a mechanical engineer and an electronics/software engineer. Best that he sticks to what he’s good at….and “shiny things”!

I've been following the work on Joe's channel and it really couldn't be in better hands. I'm so glad Joe reached out to you and that the bike is going to get a second chance and hopefully Joe will gain a lot of the recognition he deserves.
Freddie, my wife's T100 has the TORS fitted and remapped. It really isn't that loud, but sounds great. More importantly it runs better, especially with the Stage 1 Induction kit and remap.
I did the TTP upgrade on my Thruxton and I've also got the TORS pipes fitted. I think you'll be very happy with the results, I am certainly impressed with the upgrade to my '09.
Local bike shops charge £100 per hour. Freddies bike is having a complete overhaul rather than simply rectifying what was necessary to put the bike safely and reliably back on the road. Even though it will be in excellent condition when its finished, it could have been done for less money - under the cost of buying a replacement. Although I am shocked at how these bikes devalue in quite a short time. Theres a lot to be said for learning how to repair your own bike. I started down that path in 1974 and never regretted learning 'how to'. Saved me a fortune over the years and gave me great pleasure.
My brain 🧠 is just eating this info. The amount of these videos with Joe in it that I’ve saved for future reference is growing into a nice collection 👌🏻
Have been following progress on Joe's channel. Excellent. I love Bonnie Export bars and had them on one of my old XS650s. In fact, I think I still have a set in my garage.
Brilliant, that the old Bonnie gets the love it deserves. And we should keep our old bikes in good running order, they tell an important piece of history plus they help to keep our memories from all the good times we´ve had with them. Now this one will serve well for a long time to come.
I just put a new exhaust on my bike with the TTP tune. Big difference. But coupling it with the O2, AIS delete and the airbox mod... It's like a whole new and healthier bike. It runs so smooth and the power delivery is very linear. (I have videos of the processes on my channel.) Anyway, the bottom line is you won't be disappointed. Hello from 🇺🇸. Can't wait to see it back in action!
You wills blown away with the stage 1 upgrade. It totally irons out all the flat spots throughout the rev range and makes more active off the throttle from tickover. I was amazed when I fitted it to mine. TTP or TUP as they are now known are a fantastic firm. Mega helpful
And to top it all, after all these new bits 'n bobs are fitted, all the Sahara sand in all the nooks and crannies will be gone. I look forward to seeing those new Bars when fitted... apropos Bars, that is where I intend spending more time this year..., behind Bars! The last year, bad health had prevented me from riding. Looking forward to exploring the old Dobbs hunting grounds of Suffolk (thanks for the idea) plus the Norfolk coast which is apparently also grandious.

The bike will feel very different when you get it back Freddie, great work from Joe. It’s a little concerning that the people that repaired your spark plug thread didn’t do it right. Once you reassemble something you should always double check it they clearly didn’t.
I do agree. There’s been another huge issue uncovered just yesterday, that’ll be shared by Joe next week too (I think then it can start being re-assembled)

This episode is just highlights how different motorcycling has become….. certainly up to the 80s, pretty much everyone that owned a bike had mechanical skills are they soon learnt…. Through manuals through friends….. often a few friends would get together and help each other… and of course bikes were lower tech….. today they are complex machines with all the sensors and gadgetry, and many owners don’t want to get their hands dirty or have the knowledge…… I’ve lost count of how many engines I prepared right down to the crankshaft, and up to, and including my 40s cars…… by then I was earning enough to pay someone to make repairs to my vehicles….
Anyone owning any vehicle today without mechanical knowledge, and wanting to keep it longer term have to consider the need for deeper pockets
Price wise is same here, Canada. Whenever you see nice old cars, trucks and bike on the road it is mechanics who own them. Have been enjoying the revival your bike, he is a excellent mechanic and good guy. Your Bonnie is going to be better than new when done.
That man is a genius. It’s nice to see someone who wants to find and fix faults and not just replace and scrap everything. In other news, what are those trousers you are wearing, I need some in my life 😉

Absolutely loving this and of course I'm now on Joe's channel. Working my way through all of the videos both Freddie's and Joe's. It also giving me some appetite for a Triumph twin, I used to have a Speed Triple RS and had a loaner Thruxton RS which was great fun
Hello Freddie. Great video as usual, thank you. If I may, I would like to say something to you. I say this with the most respect to you and in no way am I trying to be harsh about it. As a fellow motorcyclist you will understand where I'm coming from. I hope this is a lesson for you on the importance on future maintenance of your motorcycle. Most of us do our own maintenance because it saves money and most importantly it makes us feel good, and Obviously so we can continue to ride our motorcycle. My advice would be either have some kind of deal where Joe works on your bike or learn on your own. I understand it can be intimidating but we all started somewhere, and I believe you would find satisfaction on working and maintaining your motorcycle. Can't wait for the Bonnie to be back on the road. Ride safe.

Not everyone wants to work on a motorcycle but maintenance is essential. If you can't do it yourself get it serviced regularly. The other point is the amount of equipment you need to service yourself, and how much time you have free.
Better that Freddie doesn’t try to do his own work on his bike, he would need to become a mechanical engineer and an electronics/software engineer. Best that he sticks to what he’s good at….and “shiny things”!
I’m sure if Freddie had a garage/workshop he could do the basic stuff. All he’s got is Monica’s mums allotment shed 😉

My first proper bike was an old 1965 T120R... it spent more time in the workshop than on the road. I loved your North Yorkshire trip..I feel privileged it is on my doorstep ! Keep at it Freddie.

Freddie, my wife's T100 has the TORS fitted and remapped. It really isn't that loud, but sounds great. More importantly it runs better, especially with the Stage 1 Induction kit and remap.
I did the TTP upgrade on my Thruxton and I've also got the TORS pipes fitted. I think you'll be very happy with the results, I am certainly impressed with the upgrade to my '09.

Local bike shops charge £100 per hour. Freddies bike is having a complete overhaul rather than simply rectifying what was necessary to put the bike safely and reliably back on the road.
Even though it will be in excellent condition when its finished, it could have been done for less money - under the cost of buying a replacement. Although I am shocked at how these bikes devalue in quite a short time.
Theres a lot to be said for learning how to repair your own bike. I started down that path in 1974 and never regretted learning 'how to'. Saved me a fortune over the years and gave me great pleasure.
My brain 🧠 is just eating this info. The amount of these videos with Joe in it that I’ve saved for future reference is growing into a nice collection 👌🏻
Have been following progress on Joe's channel. Excellent. I love Bonnie Export bars and had them on one of my old XS650s. In fact, I think I still have a set in my garage.
Such care and attention to detail. Nice to see a non throw away attitude. I have also thought about a bonny for myself now!

Brilliant, that the old Bonnie gets the love it deserves. And we should keep our old bikes in good running order, they tell an important piece of history plus they help to keep our memories from all the good times we´ve had with them. Now this one will serve well for a long time to come.

I just put a new exhaust on my bike with the TTP tune. Big difference. But coupling it with the O2, AIS delete and the airbox mod... It's like a whole new and healthier bike. It runs so smooth and the power delivery is very linear. (I have videos of the processes on my channel.) Anyway, the bottom line is you won't be disappointed. Hello from 🇺🇸. Can't wait to see it back in action!
You wills blown away with the stage 1 upgrade. It totally irons out all the flat spots throughout the rev range and makes more active off the throttle from tickover. I was amazed when I fitted it to mine. TTP or TUP as they are now known are a fantastic firm. Mega helpful

And to top it all, after all these new bits 'n bobs are fitted, all the Sahara sand in all the nooks and crannies will be gone. I look forward to seeing those new Bars when fitted... apropos Bars, that is where I intend spending more time this year..., behind Bars! The last year, bad health had prevented me from riding. Looking forward to exploring the old Dobbs hunting grounds of Suffolk (thanks for the idea) plus the Norfolk coast which is apparently also grandious.

Loving this Freddie. Definitely a nostalgic feeling about the Bonny. It's served you well and feels right to get it back up together. It's got some real history and should have plenty more life and travels in it.

The bike will feel very different when you get it back Freddie, great work from Joe. It’s a little concerning that the people that repaired your spark plug thread didn’t do it right. Once you reassemble something you should always double check it they clearly didn’t.
I do agree. There’s been another huge issue uncovered just yesterday, that’ll be shared by Joe next week too (I think then it can start being re-assembled)
