I agree with both of you. There should be a WarioWare spinoff with Waluigi as the protagonist. Then, a Metroid game with R.O.B. as the protagonist so that Nintendo can develop Samus from a non-player perspective.
R.O.B. is my main and he is awesome. He is programmed to be an NES accessory and kick butt. And he's done being an NES accessory. (Credit for that comment goes to Roddy Piper in John Carpenter's They Live)

Although he wasn't the star of system, he sure helped bring Nintendo to America in an era where video games were dying. I really wouldn't call him a failure but a tool that Nintendo ditched when he was no longer useful. At this point he is a celebrity know for what he accomplished rather than his actual usefulness or modern day appeal.

R.o.b is personally one of my favourite Nintendo characters, and this is because of Mario Kart DS, I always played as him
I felt sorry for R.O.B in Smash Bros fir Wii.He had to watch his fellow comrades fall with those bombs.I like using him he's pretty fun to use.
