Haha... @C R, it's warm coastal snow - could almost be considered some sort of spa treatment when compared to cold blowing prairie snow 🤣 Cousteau is generally very well behaved, but as you can see in this video he often ends up on a leash. Mountain tops are dangerous places and if you happen to be a dog that enjoys crazily running around, without any care for anyone's wellbeing - then a leash can be a life saver 👍👍👍
"Throughout this entire video the word "Cinematic" will be used only once. And that was it." You're a gem hahaha! I've learned to despise that now meaningless word
@Lost Creek Films, I am so glad to discover that somebody shares my sense of humor. Can't watch anything camera related here without hearing that damn word a gazillion times 😝😝😝
I cannot believe this video only got 119k views. It deserves millions of views!! Stick positions are reallllyyyy helpful, all of the footages are amazing, and the variations of the shots are overwhelming. I will definitely rewatch the video tons of times to master these shots! Thank you so much for the video.
I've watched dozens of these videos on this topic in the last month since getting my first drone and I have to say, this his hands-down the best. Thank you! I especially appreciate the graphic at the bottom showing control inputs for each clip. Bravo!
Great video and content, just bought my first drone and getting started with capturing footage and trying to create some content. Videos like yours are really helpful and I think that the way you are showing the stick movements for some of the compound movements is great. Keep up the great content, really appreciated.
Thank you very much for your explanation, clear and very "cinematic". Even so, i´ve shooted a video, following your wise knwoledge and i can´t explain the horrendous bumps that i get in one of the slow turns with my P4P. Would you mind to have a glance at the video and, perhaps, discover why ?. i can´t get a fluid transition like yours. Anyway, i´ve just suscribed to your channel and will watch your shared videos. Thank you very much again, Neil.
I love the stick position display. Very clever and helpful. I also love the animations explaining certain aspects. I also really appreciate your determination to continue, even in less than perfect weather!
I need to say this again, this video is gold. I used to do professions fashion photography so I know my camera settings, but this video opened my eyes to what I thought I already knew for my drone photography and video. If this video was a woman, I'd marry her 😂
You won me over with "slow is smooth and smooth is fast". The S.E.A.L. motto! Something that everyone should live by! In every aspect of life! A do over, a death, slows you down!
This is such nifty advice, for even a Mavic 2 Pro owner. It's such a helpful tip be aware of how much control you can have over how fast the drone can move. After watching this, any mistakes made can be attributed to lack of practice.
@Robert Emerson he loves his jacket and expects it once we pause at any summit. He works just as hard as me climbing and trudging through the deep snow, and once or twice in the past showed obvious signs of being cold once we stopped moving, but since throwing a warm jacket on him - Cousteau is happier than ever with hiking in the winter 😃😃😃
Recently purchased my first drone - DJI Mini 3 Pro. I love it. It has opened up a new world for me and I'm all for it! Next step for me is getting into FPV drones and honing my cinematic skills. Thank you for this great video!
Many thanks @CNMTCFilms 👍 I've always felt that sharing information about how imagery was capture only serves to benefit others. I wish that I had thought to note the EXIF information for the bRoll shots, but unfortunately it doesn't appear as though DJI aircraft embedded such information within video files.
honestly, this is by far the most professional video tutorial on this topic. It’s so pleasant to watch and motivates so much to go outside to learn with the drone! Thank you so much especially for including the stick movement in each clip. You’re literally the first guy where I will hit the notifications bell!
What an insightful and well-produced video. Lovely to see Neil actively responding to commenters on this video as of 6 days ago. Cheers from Australia.

Hello Neil, just wanted to let you know I thoroughly enjoyed the work and thought you put into making this video. Very nice footage, weather, presentation, graphics! It's by far the best produced one I saw so far. Have a nice weekend!
Just found this. The lack of view is insane. This is such a well done video. Love the controller overlay that shows what you're doing with the controller 🙌🏻 thank you bro. You're a legend
The best produced and most informative video on the often overlooked (in favor of gear) skills. As others have mentioned, the stick positions overlayed in the frames are beautifully informative. Kudos for NOT inlcuding the pleathora of usual cliche (Take it to the next level, cinematic, epic.....) I liked the puppy dog too.
This is an excellent reference resource video. I am just beginning to use my DJI mini 3 pro and I live in the perfect location for this type of cinematography. I am taking notes and you have gained a new sub. 👍🙌🇲🇽

Man, thanks for sharing this. Loved Cousteau in this one again. Gotta tell you, man. These videos are awesome and I love what you have to share, but it hurts just a tiny bit when you see someone living your dream. (obviously i am joking. Keep it up man. And keep inspiring).
Man, what an excellent video! Ten thumbs up! 😆 A few thoughts I had while watching. Even though I'm not even a rank amateur, there are things I know that can help. Sometimes a 3rd of the screen is actually too much and even only using a 5th of the screen is enough. It makes the near elements more present in the shot because there is less of the sky to draw the eye to the horizon. For anyone who doesn't know, adding the sort of natural audio he is discussing falls into the field of "sound design". There are a good number of videos on that to help you learn how to do it but you don't have to have all their tools. Pre-canned sounds can work well as long as they're the right sort of character (steps in a vast field vs a closed in alley, both dirt but both different.) If you're monetizing, though, learn the law around using these things and make sure you get the right license. Even something like Cakewalk (free software) can help you do a good job with sound design without spending the cash on something in the realm of Photoshop (but if you have it to spend and you're trying to make a living off this, you should spend that cash.) Efficient flight and comprehensive knowledge of your drone and its controls is one of the best points in this entire video! You can't get the right shot if you don't know how to use your drone's software and what its physical limits are! Compose on your own time. Shoot on your employer's time (if you're working for someone). Don't waste the clock because you don't know how to get what you want. Also, multiple batteries and a way to recharge the controller itself if needed. Power packs with PD ports are a must if you're gonna be out all day. 25000 mah packs aren't that big or heavy anymore. Once the battery cools down, plug it in. Then top off the rechargeables and the power pack when you get home and also before you go out on the next shoot because if you're not constantly active, charge can dissipate over time, especially since most batteries have electronics in them now that are constantly using a slight amount of current even disconnected and in storage. As a famous man once said, "We're burnin' daylight!" 🤠Lighting conditions change fast. Make sure you're ready when they're right! Low ISOs aren't just a good idea on drones. Every digital camera I have seen starts to go to hell after you go much above 250 for stills. As he says at the end, the equipment is only as good as the operator and the resulting scene will match that. A good operator can get good results on lower quality gear than you might expect. Much of what is in use for creating many of the stunning RUclips videos you see costs well under $1,000 and sometimes you might be surprised to learn that the only thing they used was a cell phone and a tripod and maybe two or three $100 panel lights. (podcasts and such) Again, fantastic video and killer footage! (Please tell me you didn't take any of that through any kind of post-production and that this is, indeed, the raw drone footage. All Amazing stuff!)
This is by far the most professional, inforamtive tutorial I have ever seen. Thank you for including the stick positions in each shot also!
Many thanks @FlyBy 👍 Greatly appreciate the kind words and happy to hear you found the stick overlay helpful 😃😃😃

Yes, took me a bit to notice that since I didn't start out full screen but thought that was really neat and useful!
This is, cinematically speaking, the most cinematic video I've watched about drone cinematography
