Some of them criticized the fact that most of the film was set on Earth with Thor having no powers but they completely miss the point of the story. The story was that Thor was exiled because of his arrogance and cockyness so it made sense that he was banished on Earth without his powers. Not only that, doing that was necessary to make Thor more relatable because how can you actually relate to an all-powerful god that can destroy anything with lightning? It was the first movie after all.

If they come back this will prove that Kevin Feige has no direction. The MCU lacks directions and leadership. I don't want either to return, it would cheapen their entire MCU arc. I think this is a huge mistake. 5 years ago. We wouldn't do it now. 5 years later we are or led to believe that we can. Just because we can do it doesn't mean we should. This will be great for Secret Wars and if they want to tell Cap's Agent Hydra and Tony's Invincible Iron Man stories when they were bad to fit the different universe stories. Or if they want to do the Heroes Reborn story and this time stop killing of Heroes. Just recast and bench for a while.
Before the first Avengers, any attempt at making a comic book movie with multiple characters, would have been written like BvS, where there's only one main character, until the next main character is on screen, and the whole tone changes depending on which character is on screen at the time. They wouldn't have held together as full stories or fleshed out every character.
Just watch, Downey comes back as Doom, Evans comes back as Captain Hydra. I'm personally hoping for a moment where Hughe's in the mask and the X-Men animated music kicks in.
If Downey, Evans, etm, keep returning, out would likely balloon the budgets for the films to the point where it would be just them standing around in costume. I enjoy their portrayals greatly, but I'm definitely cool with trying new actors in the roles. I suppose, there's always a chance they'd take a lower salary or find another way to pay them.. but I sincerely doubt it. How will things ever progress or new, prominent characters be introduced if the main story remains essentially frozen or the stories themselves are inherently altered to accommodate legacy characters?

There are two great ways comic book ways to bring Robert Downey Jr. the actor back as Iron Man without undoing his death from Endgame and that's you bring him back as Tony Stark AI for an Iron Man 4: Armor Wars movie with Rhodey (War Machine) as the lead and Tony Stark AI assisting him. Maybe the AI got activated upon his death and has secretly been looking after his family. If they don't want to go this route with it the only other conceivable route to me is multi-versal, Superior Iron Man from another universe in Avengers 5 or 6 as a villain but I'm not sure audiences want to see Robert Downey Jr., their beloved Iron Man return as a villain at this stage. The character itself (Superior Iron Man) is too similar to Doctor Doom in some ways. There is one final McGuffin way and it would just be resurrecting the dead team members to help out in a final battle but I feel that is a bit too convenient and cheapens their original deaths. I'm with the leave them dead crowd. They had their time and now we move the story forward.
