      Modern F1 cars are utterly boring to watch, they are so stiff you cant even see suspension move, drivers barely do anything noteworthy. Achievinf high speed too easy, driving characterless, sound that displeases the ear. There is hardly any excitement. Further it went towqrds safety and reduction of danger and over-optimization further it got from what F1 should be.

  • @DuncanCunningham
    @DuncanCunningham 4 года назад +4

    That was a messy lap even for Nelson’s standards.. missed a gear into the chicane and hit curbs a few times. Fighting hard with an engine that most of the mid field guys ran and a terrible chassis from Lotus who had no money for development after paying for two highly rated Brazilian drivers for the last 5 years. Though I think they got better value from their Senna years.

    • @clubberlang589
      @clubberlang589 4 года назад +12

      Duncan Cunningham : Lotus by this time we’re clearly going backwards in vehicle development into chassis & engine quality. But don’t take anything from Nelson Piquet he proved his quality driving the Brabham team, which was clearly not the best car on the grid with far superior and quality opposition to deal with. He managed 3 x world titles. Nelson probably by his tenure at Lotus did himself no justice in relying heavily on engine power. But he gave it his best and was by far the better driver for it. Lotus enjoyed some good years but made mistakes by not listening to the drivers insight like with Senna & Piquet, who were noted for superior vehicle set ups. This is why Nigel Mansell enjoyed having such a good car handed to him by Piquet. He realised that in 86, that they were using Piquet setups to apply to Mansell. So by 87 Piquet realises he had to be more crafty to get that title with only 3 wins. With Mansell getting 6. Because simply Nelson was about consistency, strategy & smarts. Not about dominance. Nigel thought he could dominate the Brazilian and found it too hard. Because he could only manage to out perform him in some races that lead to victories. But overall he was frustrated to see how Nelson could keep the car performing. Therefore gaining the title.
