IDK if it is the same in real live but, in DCS, helicopters fool Fox-2 missiles like a champ. It is nearly imposible to shot down those things, unless you fire the missile point-blank ^_^
Yes it's the same IRL, or at least used to be. Modern IR missiles may be better at overcoming that, but due to the rotor wash effect on the exhaust, helicopters already have a reduced IR signature compared to other turbine powered aircraft
