I like how thorough you are in explaining things. You offer insight into how to think about approaching a project, like how to confirm you have found a stud, making sure drawers won't scrape the drywall, and so on. These are things that are really easily overlooked by the casual DIYer. A lot of people who post videos just show you what they do, but don't explain what they're thinking or special considerations they've taken into account.

Just wanted to say thank you for doing this video. My home was cheaply built and all my kitchen cabinets were so warped I could put my whole hand behind the cabinet and it was still attached to the wall. After the repair, I also noticed my bathroom vanities both in the master bedroom and guest are pulling away from the wall. I was going to do the same repair so I can sell the house but totally did not think about water lines behind the wall. Wow you saved me. I can believe that people or companies do not care about their own quality of work. I am not a repair person but was able to do it myself thanks to folks like you. Thanks again for all your effort in putting out your videos. Peace, Reese

Awesome point about adding the extra piece between the vanity and the wall. I did not think of that before. When finding the studs it may be beneficial to point out that older houses don’t necessarily have evenly spaced studs. My house was built in 66 and when we gutted the kitchen we saw there was no rhyme or reason to where the studs were.

Thanks. Daughter is installing a corner cabinet in our bathroom and the installers who built our off frame modular decided to cut a hole in the drywall for the countertop to sink into rather than in stall a cleat/filler/spacer on the left. How insane. This will be simpler. Filling the hole in the wall, not so much.

Thanks for sharing. We had a house fire that destroyed our kitchen, but smoke damaged the rest of the house too. It required renovations, including our small ensuite. I noticed the calking coming off on the vanity counter that runs along the side of the wall last, so we plan on replacing eith new calkin. However, I noticed this afternoon the cabinet has a gap along the side where the top of the drawers are, along the same wall. Not sure why this is, but there was calking there too. I'm worried they were installed incorrectly or not secured properly, and if we need to fix, this video is helpful. We had a horrible time, as the restoration company's subcontractors were terrible! We hired our own contractor for the post clean-up, but there are still some questionable things we've since discovered.

You didn't have to scribe the cleat you added to the left side, or the back right edge of the vanity. That's some good sheetrocking and taping. The studs looked new in that room but were they? I redid a tub surround once and didn't pay close attention to the existing variance in the rough sawn studs (they should have been furred out slightly) I didn't notice until I'd screwed the backer board on that I had a slight valley in the wall (the craftsman 60 years ago knew enough to watch how deep they set their nails to make sure the wall was flat. Me and my 40 horse screw gun just drove them home). Nice thing about learning by mistakes, you don't often do them twice.
Is the drawer that's off a little, square? Could just be debris behind the drawer face and the drawer box too. If not you could drop that odd one down to the bottom, where it wouldn't be as noticeable.

Vanitys with no back panel don't look as good but are popular with installers because they are so easy to install. Owner kind of went cheap. The door hinges can attached easily, but they’re not soft closing. It’s $1 more per hinge. Same with drawers, not soft closing. $1 more per slide rail. Finally, the height should support 3 drawers instead of 2 for 50% more shelve organization. Also, I now prefer 34” kitchen height height over historical bath height.
