Great video on shelling! My wife and I went to Sanibel Island, FL last year (before Ian hit!) and had a great time shellling! I even caught an 18” Spanish Mackeral surf fishing at dusk one evening!. I had visited there fifty year sago with my aunt who was an avid shelter, so it was like reliving part of my child hood.
We found some beauties, for sure. We're thankful we could make a trip back out to the island and take you all along. God is good! Stay safe and take care!
I love watching all of the videos you make but Steph and Oliver, when I woke up and got my coffee this 34 degree morning in Greenville SC and saw you guys shelling the barrier island this old heart was so happy. You know I love my low country. All those sweet baby ears!! I ❤ em! Thanks for really making my day. That beach walk was just what I needed. I will be down within a mth cold or not, can't wait to breath that pluff mud air, lol!!!
We're so glad we could get back out shelling and bring you along. We had a great time. The weather was beautiful and we love our finds. Take care and stay safe!
I only recently found you guys and I have to say I love watching you. I am from Southwest Ohio and I don't get to ocean as much as I would want to, I have a lot of health issues and can't travel very far. I have been to South Carolina and I love your state and your beaches. I have never had the privilege of seeing those beautiful welks that you find. Stay safe and keep shelling.
At 12:30 those pairs are the most interesting ones because those are complete. Data slip with it, perhaps a few small brushes of mineral oil if they are very dry, and you're done... Personally I collected fresh water mussels along the river Rhine (Netherlands), a species that has been extinct for over 50 years in my country (Unio crassus). But those shells have been preserved in a few of the clay banks, complete pairs in mint condition and with the periostracum and ligament fully intact.
I miss shelling...🐚 I can't wait to get back to the beach!!! I would have grabbed all the shells and turtle bone at the log some beauties for sure!!!😍🐚
Love that video I hate the boat stuck but you guys are pros.. Oh and from one southerner to the other we don’t talk strange other folks do.. lol. Love u guys

Stephanie, I have watched y’all from your beginning shows when you called a whelk a conch. I am so impressed with knowledge you have gained since your start at shelling. I was on Sanibel the same week you were there with your family, a while back. I am so sad for those folks going through the aftermath of Ian. As a native of Mt. Pleasant, I so remember the aftermath of Hugo. It was devastating. Mother Nature does revive and rebuild herself. It just will take time. At 72, I am not certain Southwest Florida will revive in my lifetime. I hope I can visit there and she’ll again.
Thanks Ms. Anne for being a Saltaholic from the start! 🤗 We still say conch to a lot of the locals so they know what we are talking about, they don't have a clue when we say whelk. 😄 Being from SC, you probably remember, conch is what 99% of people call them here. We can give plenty of thanks to our Saltaholics for helping educate us too! Oh, we had such a fun trip to Sanibel. We didn't find anything really spectacular, plenty of pretty treasures though and it was so much fun with the family! Did you find some goodies? I was hoping for a horsie 🐎🐚 but you may have seen in that video the only one we found was occupied by a SUPER HUGE hermit 🦀 that Daniel caught 🎣😳😆. You're right, it is so sad to see the mass loss and devastation they are going through. Yes it will take time. 🙏🙏
Wow I'm watching this video and you keep dropping things I think are just beautiful. The sea weed and the sea wip that blue oyster shell was just beautiful. Oh and the oyster clusters just awesome. I would love to have that stuff.
I know it! It is a SHELL of a PROBLEM! 🤦🏼♀️ They are all great treasures, we just can't keep but so much stuff. Our tiny home is already overflowing with beach bling! 🤷🏼♀️ But almost all the beauties we did keep will be finding new homes with our Saltaholics! 😁🏆🐚🎁 So thanks for commenting & good luck! 🤞
You two are so cute together! I really enjoy your videos. I live in Garden City and the beach is my backyard! I love to collect shells but I don’t see as many as you do. I love those big cockel shells!
@@SaltyReflections Sharmon from SWF Beach life has lots of videos about Kice Island. She just posted one recently. If you don't know her, check her out!
Oliver that looks like a really cool beach to do some shelling on no one's there and there seems to be lots of seashells washed up on the beach I can't help but notice how flat it looks as the water meets up to the beach line I bet it would be some good flounder fishing out there
We love visiting this spot with all you guys. There's always a ton to see washed up on this beautiful beach. I know there's definitely flounder in the area.
Because of you guys I actually pay attention to the shells when I go to the beach now! It used to be that I looked more for cool rocks and driftwood. Plus I feel a bit more intelligent being able to identify the shells now! LOL!! So thank you! And don’t worry about the negative Nancy people, because there are way more of us that love ya! ❤
Thanks so much! We know a lot of you love us and can see we love yall. We're just ordinary people who make mistakes and appreciates you all that can see past them. Stay safe and God bless!
Hello from Maine! I really enjoy your videos! Just made my 1st trip to beaufort, NC to shell! So much fun! And SO Addicting! Lol. Found so many olives! Our shelling is a bit more challenging but we do have great sea glass from our rocky shores. Thanks again for sharing your lovely outer banks shelling. Can't wait to get back down there!
Hey y’all. I’m so happy to find you 2. I love 💕 shelling, & sharks tooth hunting. Would y’all be interested in giving us a tour. My hubby is from west cola. We love Hunting Island. We go all the time. I want to go out in the boat w/ y’all. Thanks so much for this awesome video. We Live in Columbia. We can come meet you…
Hello. I would love being on that beach. The shell clusters are beautiful. Bigger the better. I probably have over 100 cockles shells. I do more land shelling since I can't get to the beach. I need to down size on the cockles shells . Beautiful olive shell, one over my favorites. Love watching all your videos.
Thanks for coming shelling with us and leaving us a comment. I'd hate to know that I had to sit and count all the shells we have collected. Trust me, we have a shell of a problem. LOL 😆 Take care and stay safe!
@@SaltyReflections oh i have got that problem myself. I bought some shells from a lady one time and it was a gold mind of items. A shoe box full of trap doors, another full of slipper shells, box of olives, and several large jars of bubble shell, baby ears, sea urchin needles, also got a xl sea buiscut, star fish, several different large shells too. Along with cockles and other type of clam shells. About a month or so ago i got a huge box full of cockles, clam shells, whelks and a bunch of different kind of small and large star fish. Id rather be on the beach shelling but at least im getting a few. God bless.
Sorry it's taken me so long to watch this! Out of town friends came. I love what you said, Oliver, about putting a shelling video up for the FL shellers that couldn't. Thank you for that and for taking the time to go.❤️ Got a good look at the shark teeth earrings with the sailors ears!😊 ❤️ And you're so very welcome! You don't need to apologize for picking up shells. The beach ALWAYS replenishes itself every tide change. There will always be shells. The dark spiny jewelbox was unusual. I find fresh ones here and they're usually always whitish. Well, I feel like I do know you and I love all the time you take to do these videos so it's fun to let you know you're appreciated!❤️ Sometimes the perfect little shells are the most beautiful. Here's a tear emoji for Oliver!😂 YFSS says that was a great part 1! xxoo
No worries! Hope you enjoyed your time with your friends! I do love my 🖤🦈🦷📿🤗❣️ They are so special! Yeah the colors that are saturated into some of our shells is so unique. 🧡💙🖤 The orange color that stains our white boats isn't as fun 😝, it's prettier on the shells! ☺️ Thanks so much for joining us for another beach walk!
Sittin' & shellin', yes that's the life for me! Too old to do a lot of walkin', but sittin' near a shell pile, watchin' the waves, hearin' the surf, feelin' the breeze, I'll take it! Love and hugs from {landlocked} VA! By the way, people who criticize you for taking so many shells do NOT have much faith in the bounty of the sea that casts up trillions of shells per day. And tomorrow does the same. And did the same yesterday. Seriously people, what a stupid thing to get your nose out of joint about!!! SHEESH!
It's nice to see you both back on the beach! You can pick up whatever you want to pick up. Doesn't matter how many. First come first serve! Saw those foot prints on the beach before your arrival. Whenever I used to beachcomb there was always foot prints before me. They had to be out there before daylight. Something I wouldn't do! I suppose there were a ton of shells washed up over by Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel. But people aren't looking for shells now. They have much more to worry about, sadly!
Love your videos so much! You and Oliver are a lot like me and my husband going back and forth and he gets a little bit upset too if I don’t make an exciting remark when he finds something before me. I may not be able to continue to look and see the shells due to health so I really do appreciate how hard he tries to help me. I think I get in a trance! Lol! When I’m looking, it can be very meditating to me. I do love what he finds! So nice to watch you guys! Thank you so much. I live at Myrtle and we don’t have that many great shells but I do have buckets of olive shells from this area. I can’t imagine finding a large welk that wasn’t broken. I would flip out if I ever found something like those I’ve seen you guys pick up in the past! I would love to find Angel wings too! Thank you so much for sharing your videos!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
LOL! Stephanie and I have such a great time with each other. She wants me to love her finds and I want her to love mine. We might even be in a little competition for the best finds. LOL! Not really. Everything I have is hers anyway. We're each others best find. I'm sure you and your husband feel the same. Stay safe and God bless!
I love ya'lls appreciation for just the beauty of the outdoors! Love watching yall hunt shells! Just a note: I believe that orange-red "spiny jewelbox" is actually an Atlantic Thorny Oyster, as thats their appearance & color👍 (& the Spiny Jewelbox only comes in white exterior). ..just sharing a little info :) Blessings to yall!!
🤣 ... 😿 We have only visited Holden Beach in NC but hope to visit more. We did find tons of olives there. I am in hopes of finding one of those pretty helmets NC beaches have if we get the chance to head north! 🤞
If you are looking for small shells in big piles, maybe it is worth bringing a foldable stool or chair with you. At 18:50 that shell looks as if it has been cracked by fire. Did somebody use it as a BBQ?
Almost 10,000 subs, I'm so happy for you guys. If everyone out in the water and on these beaches would just take a little trash it would help our amazing earth out so much. I would love to have a handful of tiny pieces of driftwood. Oh I could set for hours and hours just watching the waves crashing. I love those smooth clams also. People just wanna bitch and moan about anything and everything. Really makes me mad that people have nothing better to do but sit and watch youtube videos and bitch and moan.
Don't get yourself upset thinking about people complaining and we'll try not to as well. We're supper excited to be closing in on 10,000 subscribers. Our tiny home is already overflowing with beach bling! 🤷🏼♀️ But almost all the beauties we did keep will be finding new homes with our Saltaholics! 😁🏆🐚🎁 So thanks for commenting & good luck! 🤞
@@SaltyReflections My name is Karleen Page and I'm a Saltaholic! There's no cure and I don't want one! LOL

Yup I sure do know whatcha talking bout 🤗
Thanks for coming along for beach walk!
Another awesome video
Thanks for joining us for the beach walk! 🌊👣🐚
You two are so cute together! I really enjoy your videos. I live in Garden City and the beach is my backyard! I love to collect shells but I don’t see as many as you do. I love those big cockel shells!
Oh, that's AWESOME! Happy Shelling! 🌊👣🐚
I want to go shrimping!
We're ready to go, too! 🦐
Would love to visit Beaufort SC!! Just found this channel!! Love the beach & shelling!!
Welcome aboard! Thanks for joining us for the adventure! 🌊 🐚👣
Hey guys 👋
👋
We miss seeing y’all shelling❤
It has been a while since we've been because we spending lots of time shrimping and supplying them to others.
When you go to Florida visit Kice Island you have to take a boat shuttle to get to it but there is thousands of beautiful shells
Kice Island is officially on our bucket list. Thanks for the info!
@@SaltyReflections Sharmon from SWF Beach life has lots of videos about Kice Island. She just posted one recently. If you don't know her, check her out!
@@karleenpage5979 we do
Oliver that looks like a really cool beach to do some shelling on no one's there and there seems to be lots of seashells washed up on the beach I can't help but notice how flat it looks as the water meets up to the beach line I bet it would be some good flounder fishing out there
We love visiting this spot with all you guys.
Y’all give me the beach fever😅 Do you give personal family tours in person?😊
Thanks! No, we can't offer any tours, we are not licensed to do so. Sorry.
Thanks for watching in Maine! We've never visited Beaufort NC. It's on our bucket list.
God bless.
@@marinemom5630 Sounds like you hit the jackpot! 🐚🥰
SHEESH!
Sounds like a fabulous time to me! ... LOL! Certainly, at least I give them something to worry about! 😝👃
That's right! Finders keepers! 😁😉👍 Yes, it is so sad to see the devastation that Hurricane Ian left behind!! 😥🙏
I only seem to like ur shelling videos I watched other seemed to be boring so I’m sticking with u guys 😃❤️
Glad you enjoy adventuring with us! Thanks for coming along! 🌊 🐚👣
We sure do!! We love watching you guys!!
@@SaltyReflections "We're each other's best find." That nails it right there!!!
I love ya'lls appreciation for just the beauty of the outdoors! Love watching yall hunt shells!
Just a note: I believe that orange-red "spiny jewelbox" is actually an Atlantic Thorny Oyster, as thats their appearance & color👍
(& the Spiny Jewelbox only comes in white exterior). ..just sharing a little info :)
Blessings to yall!!
Thanks for the info! We appreciate it!
I love you guys!! If I visit will you take me shelling? No shells on the Buena Vista marsh in Wisconsin but we have tons of cranes.
Have yall ever found any seahorses? I just found your channel and I am loving you guys!
👋 Thanks for joining us! We have not ever found a seahorse. Maybe one day... Very glad to hear you're enjoying shelling with us! 🌊👣🐚
How you are ready for Italian! Praying for you all in Beaufort!
Thanks. We're as prepared as we can be. We're praying for everyone in this storms path.
I have found the lightning welk and olives on NC beaches.
😿😿
🤣 ... 😿 We have only visited Holden Beach in NC but hope to visit more. We did find tons of olives there. I am in hopes of finding one of those pretty helmets NC beaches have if we get the chance to head north! 🤞
😇😇😇

If you are looking for small shells in big piles, maybe it is worth bringing a foldable stool or chair with you. At 18:50 that shell looks as if it has been cracked by fire. Did somebody use it as a BBQ?
A stool is a good idea for searching through shell piles.
Lightning Whelk is the Texas state shell.
Thanks for the info. 👍

😢Oliver you try too hard to do the right thing, just be yourself.🐚
I have a hard time wondering how others feel. I can agree to disagree. I'm getting better at understanding, we can't make everyone happy.
I have not found one since I was 16 and that’s many moons ago
Sounds like it is time to go to the beach! Thanks for joining us for the beach trip when you don't have the chance to go yourself!
We've put in tons of time doing our best to share the things we love and it's awesome knowing others are enjoying our videos. We're going to keep trying our best to grow and see where it takes us. Have you ever been hunting for razor clams?
We have not. I've seen a few videos of people doing it. Very interested.
Is there a difference between a shark eye and a moon shells?
The shark eye is a type of moon snail shell.
Whaaaaa??? I can slow you down??!! I don't see that option anywhere 🤔
It's in one of the options in the line with the 👍👎💲.
Cockles are cool. I would start with the first one and by the end of the walk see how big you can find.
Should have got a pic of the shells against the driftwood log. I would have used it as a cover pic on fb.
That would've been a good one! 🖼 Thanks for joining us for another adventure!
