Oliver, you are always saying,”Steph, what are we gonna do with all these shells”…and she says,”look at em and love on em”…ha ha…Something different to see you guys do would to be have a crafting video one evening and maybe make a shell mirror with all the giant whelks, angel wings, sand dollars…or cover a cigar box in all those pretty olive shells or maybe decorate a big picture frame with a portrait of all of your family in it! I’d love to see how crafty you could actually get! ❤
I received my shell order today and am thrilled. They were everything portrayed in the description and were packed so well. Everything was in perfect shape, including the Angel wing. Plus, the bonuses I got made it seem like a late Christmas present. Thank you so much!
We're so glad! Yay! Ya never know with shells! 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️💔😬📦 Thank you, too! We certainly are appreciative that you would want to help support our small channel & have some of our treasures for your very own! 🥰🐚 Thanks for coming along for the beach adventure! 🌊🐚👣
This shelling video was like my dream come true!! You two are living the best life as far as I am concerned.👍If you ever need two fellow shell hoarders to tag along with you on an adventure, we are available to go!! ☺️🐚
And yes Oliver I really enjoy learning about the ocean creatures, shells, crabbing, shrimping and fishing. Y’all are good teachers and so knowledgable. I myself have not ever been around beach except on vacay. So again Thank Y’all for sharing your adventures. Keep up the great videos in 2024.
Man would I enjoy going on an adventure with you both!! My favorite thing to do is shell search and a barrier island is a bucket list for me!! Thanks for the awesome video's!!
I love, love these videos! The amount of beach treasures you found on this trip is absolutely amazing!! Thank you for your hard work for us! Kelp on shelling, shrimping, crabbing, fishing and spending time with your precious family ! 😘
You two are so cute together, and how nice that you both love the ocean and all her treasures so much. My local beaches here in Southern CA are having gigantic waves from storms right now so we're advised to stay away for a while. Thanks for taking me to the beach anyway! Appreciate you both.
I grew up on the beaches of Southern CA. 3 - 4 days after the big waves dissipate is the perfect time to go shelling. We don't have the number or variety of shells along the West Coast, so after stormy weather, shelling should be pretty good.
We've done that several times. We will have to do it again. I only rinse the sand off & let them air dry. Sometimes, it takes me a while to get around to that part! 🙃
You definitely hit the mother load to many gorgeous ones to mention individually I don't think there's anything wrong with taking an animal to eat love doing anything with you guys shelling shrimping crabbing fishing and hanging with your family thank you
Absolutely, it was a shelltastic day!! We are glad you enjoyed it! We sure appreciate you tagging along with us for all of our adventures, too! 🌊👣🐚🦀🦐🎣🤗🥰
Those large channeled welks are are very nice. I've never found any that big. Through the years, I've found operculums washed up on the beach. You should go over to Sapelo Island in Georgia. Have to take a ferry to get there. There is lodging over there. Beautiful shells over there. Lots of hinged cockles. So colorful. Also, Cumberland Island. Have to take a ferry there also. Those are just day trips.
Thanks for the suggestions! We should check it out. They really aren't that far from us. If we ever do, you know we'll take our Saltaholics along with us! 😉🌊👣🐚
Great shelling video as always! You found some beauties. And, yes, my husband & I finish each other's sentences too. I do believe that happens when you're very happy together after so many years (you two are so cute together 😊). Back to shelling...❤
We get on each other's nerves doing it sometimes! 🙄 ... Probably because we both like to talk 🗣🗣🗣🤣 or maybe it's all the years together have wore each other's nerves to the end! 🎆🧨😆🙃😉 Thanks for coming along for the adventure! 🌊👣🐚
I’ve said this several times, but, thank you so much for bringing us along on your beach adventures. Y’all are so fun to hang out with. It’s nice for those of us who can’t make it to the beach very often. Appreciating you from Southern Indiana!
Our pleasure! We appreciate the kind words of encouragement, too! We are thankful for the opportunity & ability to be able to go on beach walks & to be able to share the adventure with others, especially those that don't get to enjoy it often or ever for themselves! 🌊👣🐚
A beautiful shell here and there. I would use the shells to line my porch, flower beds even going around the house. Just because you can. 😂 Love how you to bust each others chops.😂
So excited for you that the big whelk was not occupied! I personally love the huge channel whelks the best! I wonder what the biggest one ever found was? ‘AWESOME FIND’ Oliver!
You asked us to leave a comment about what that item was that you found and I thought it was part of an egg casing for a moon snail…never heard of that ‘root’ thing you said it was…wow…very interesting!
The finds just kept on getting better and better this video. I wanted to reach right in to hold them all, haha. Especially those channel whelks and murex shells.
I really enjoy watching you guys interact. Lots of awesome shells in your last two videos. That Cohog was actually quite pretty. Your weather looks very nice as well. I so appreciate that you pick up Garbage and return all the live shells. You guys do a good job explaining the different shells and how some of them live and move. I'm sure you get new viewers that have no idea, until you explain to them. Anyway thanks again for sharing.
Glad you enjoy our adventures! We are certainly appreciative of the beauty that surrounds us, and we are glad to be able to share it with other Saltaholics who love nature! Yes, ma'am, some, even some who have lived in this area their whole lives, never have been exposed to the beauty that live around us here. 🌊👣🐚
Watching you is so relaxing! I am lucky to be able to visit Charleston a few times a year and try to go shelling each time. I’ve learned a lot by watching! Thank you🐚
When we would go spot or flounder fishing, we would always put a bottle of tobasco sauce and a lemon in the boat. If the fish didn't bite we would pull up on an oyster bed and start shucking and eating. I still miss living in Myrtle Beach. Great video.
Yeah, we have seen some do that! 🦪 I don't enjoy them 🤢 but Oliver loves steamed & fried oysters. He doesn't like them raw. But they make great bait if you run out! 😁
I love seeing all the shells and critters you find on your walkabout. Found some info for you for the whelks, South Carolina has a highly regulated, short exploitation window for whelk (usually mid-February to mid-April) that is further limited by fishing gear restrictions, weather conditions, minimum whelk harvest size, and marketing opportunities. Hope you have a great day.
Happy New Year to you and family. I've enjoyed every video you make but the beach is my favorite. Where else could I see a beach trip and be in my PJs drinking coffee. I have learned so much about the sea and shells from watching this channel. Be safe and stay happy at the ocean.
It's taken me a while to get through this awesome video. Had family in town. Well I didn't know the root ID, but do know a shark eye egg collar when I see one!😃 I know in FL you can't take any live shell except during scallop season. I've never heard of a "whelk season". That giant eastern murex at 1:07 is the prettiest one you've ever shown! This beach hunt has to rank up there as one of if not the best you've ever had! And probably the best is yet to come with the high tide line!😃🎉🎉 Can't believe all those murexes! YFSS says "whew!" Looking forward to part 3!
Hope you enjoyed your family time! YES, that murex was in great condition! 🥰 So spikey & beautiful! We certainly had a great shelling day! See you on the next one! 😉
We try to take our Saltaholics on "real" beach walks & other adventures. We talk to yall & want yall to feel like you are right there with us, seeing as & how we see it! So we are glad to hear you feel that way! 🤗😁🌊👣🐚
The beach is my happy place and I hope to make a move so i am closer. In the meantime I will keep watching and loving your videos! IMO taking live whelk would be no different than taking crabs, clams or oysters. It all seafood 😍
Happy New Years, Folks!.. I really got a kick out of this beach walk. I love to hear the chatter between you two. And I do learn quite a bit from you. I only seen a sea pansy in my beach book. Are they puffy? Those welks are just beautiful. I need to look up the red dot on the red sea star. It looked like a bite! Taking live conchs is a personal choice, as long as they are consumed by the taker!. Not for me! I am landlocked in the Midwest. I always have had a love of the sea! Please keep taking us along on your beach walks. They help with the winter depression!
The sea pansy is just very slightly puffy, if that makes sense. From what I read, the red/orange dot is where the starfish intakes water. The only reason we would take a live whelk is if we were going to consume it. The one we had was fried & tasted very similar to fried clam strips. I love clam strips, so I thought it was pretty yummy. Thanks for tagging along with us for the beach adventure! We appreciate it! 🌊👣🐚
That red dot on a starfish is what is known as a medreporite. It's is an opening that sucks in water to help with movement, feeding and respiration. The eyes are usually located at the tips of the arms. Just thought you would like to know. Happy shelling Oh, and be aware that the dead sea dtr could still contain it's fissures and as it decays I side could create a nasty stink so put it away from the house until completely dried up with no odor. Good luck!
I didnt know that about the money out of shells. Yall are very interesting. I am from Mississippi and we have muddy water mostly so I love what you get to do.
I didn’t know that about the Indian using at currency I’m glad you share things I learned something new today. I love these shelling videos and all your others.
Glad to share with you! Actually, there were many types of shells used as currency among many nations, including wampum, coweries & tusk shells! Fascinating 🐚🤑 ... how the world has changed!
We certainly are! That's why we enjoy sharing the beauty that surrounds us with our Saltaholics! 🤗 Thanks for tagging along with us for the beautiful adventure! Happy New Year to you, too! 🎆
I've (Steph) been lucky enough to have been coming to this area my whole life. I have walked these beaches with my grandparents since before I can remember 🥰 (& now we get to pass that along to our grands). I love the ocean, nature & wildlife, so I'm just very interested in it. & I'm kind of a big 🤓 nerd, so I enjoy learning 🤯 about things I'm passionate about. Now I share my useless knowledge with & I also learn new things a lot from our Saltaholics, too. 😃
I agree with Lynn yarbough.....let's see yalls crafty side.
We'll have to think about what crafts we could do with you guys. 🤔🙂 🖼
I agree! A friend of mine made me a gorgeous picture frame with shells she collected in Baja California (she knows I'm a shell nut 😂), and I LOVE IT!
"What are you going to do with all these shells?....."We are going to look at them & LOVE them!" ......I think I have found my tribe! LOL
That red dot on the starfish is his heart!
Interesting!
The moon snail leaves that cluster of sand gel sheet. possibly shark eye snail.
Exactly! ✅️
I received my shell order today and am thrilled. They were everything portrayed in the description and were packed so well. Everything was in perfect shape, including the Angel wing. Plus, the bonuses I got made it seem like a late Christmas present. Thank you so much!

Wonderful finds. I wish you would show the shells after you get them home and clean them up. It would really show the beauty of them.
We've done that several times. We will have to do it again. I only rinse the sand off & let them air dry. Sometimes, it takes me a while to get around to that part! 🙃
Oh my goodness Shell 🐚 Heaven What a awesome walk Thank you both for sharing 🥰

Yes, you're right! ✅️ That was a moon snail egg collar. The Briar root I mentioned was a "What is it?" question from the previous video. 🙂👍
Ty part 2 of collecting 🐚. I am not able to get out to the ocean right now. I have learned a lot of the both of you, I will be watching more videos ❤😊

Have ya'll ever seen a live angle wing?
We have NOT! 😳 Well, except for the tiny ones (the false angel wing/piddock clams) living in wood like I mentioned in the driftwood.
Well said Oliver
Yehbudi!
What another exciting video ... please tell me there's a third installment of this tidal surge aftermath.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤷🏼♀️ Stay tuned! 😉🤗
I know you wash the shells you find. Do you ever paint the shells different colors?
We don't paint them.
The rubbery thing you picked up is a collection of snail eggs. Not 100% sure which ones, but possibly moon snail.
Exactly! ✅️ Moon snail egg collar 🐚🥚
That red dot on a starfish is what is known as a medreporite. It's is an opening that sucks in water to help with movement, feeding and respiration. The eyes are usually located at the tips of the arms. Just thought you would like to know. Happy shelling

What do you do with all those shells? How do you clean them?
We just rinse them off. We have them sitting around everywhere.

That is what a moo snail puts out.
Exactly! ✅️ You got it!
We’ve been to Hunting island a couple times and found some good shells… what drivable beach would you two say is the best in SC to find good shells?
Hunting Island is our favorite drivable beach! I hear good shelling things about areas of Myrtle Beach, too, but I'm not very familiar with that area.
Was it a moon snail egg casing?
Yes, ma'am! You got it! ✅️
It has changed I love learning new things.
This is beautiful. Is there a difference between an angel wing shell and what us Floridians call a turkey wing shell?
Yes, & there are several different types of turkey wings as well.
You two are so lucky! Happy New Year! 😊
We certainly are! That's why we enjoy sharing the beauty that surrounds us with our Saltaholics! 🤗 Thanks for tagging along with us for the beautiful adventure! Happy New Year to you, too! 🎆
How did Stephanie learn about all the sea life? What is her background? Very knowledgeable
