Hey Drongo! Alt+~ will remove a unit type from autogrouping and the same is true of Ctrl+~ for control group. Also, in Settings > Game > Behavior at the bottom is "Autogroup persist mode" turn that off for no more autogroups between games. Love the content thanks for all you do!
Hey Drongo! You did feel overwhelmed by the frontline a bit, there is a lot of stuff to deal with compared to backline. My biggest recommendation is to cleanup your unit management. Use more unit groups and separate units by their function. My setup is : 1- Melee line (pawns early, welders or bulls later), 2- Ranged line (rockets, hounds, snipers, RADAR, JAMMER) plz don't make your radar units guard a random snipers, just add them to the group, 3- Flanking group (marauders, sprinters), 4- all purpose (usually split units holding a choke or something), 5- rezz bots, 6- figs, 7- bombers, 8- t1 air cons, 9- t2 air cons, 0 is spam (ticks, pawns) move the pawns here once you start spamming them. If you have the same groups every game, you never have to take time to think about where your units are. It frees up a lot of mental space and makes your commands more fluid. Good luck on your games :)
You can use a diplomat or ambassador for the mountain. I often use them in the position you're currently at. Instead of using air, I would have chosen a T2 vehicle and utilized their utility. I found your sharpshooter/pawn combination very appealing. Normally, I start with an arm vehicle, so I don't have them in the mid-game. However, perhaps a late-game sniper spam against T3 might be a valid option against Juggernauts and Thors. After that, I would have opted for Thors.
Only started playing, my game sense has went up for sure after watching these videos. Would be nice to get a vid with tips and tricks all in one place!
FAF player that never did BAR here with some advice: scout before making a ton of bombers, and definitely before sending them in. Going with a big flock to that top left afus seemed a throw and massive mass donation
You were too early on that t2 factory, no scouting ahead and you also didn't build enough power. you need around 450-500 power income to get it right. You also had a t1 idling factory for some time, if your opponent would've pushed, you would've been made flat in a minute. The worst part about not having enough power is your turrets not doing damage and your metal extractors turning off and not producing metal.
Use air scouts before raids, t2 rocket bots to take emplacements, also watch your snipers, you can turn them invisible and destroy everything. 30 snipers is a win at that time you had them, just need to control them better
If you press the attack command, then draw a line with right click, you can create an attack line that's especially useful for bombers. Default attack command is 'a', I don't know what grid keys are.
That was hectic, I think you'll probably find many things to improve or do differently when you rewatch this, and just need more frontline practice to stay more calm and focused and make better decisions. But yeah, multiple sides like that is just very overwhelming. I think that many fusions was not the way to go iso just starting AFUS, there were def a number of opportunities you could have started booming. But also none of your team went eco, which was imho big part of why you lost in the end. Snipers are good, but hard to manage, you probably wasted a lot that were quite ineffective. You had T3 income quite early, but didn't for a long time, a few vanguards and some groups of marauder and/or razorback attacks could probably have done some damage. You could have switched to vehicles, which work better to push through and do some serious damage with less micro than hounds/snipers. And ambassadors are relatively cheap and can do so much long range damage, but also require some practice/micro. Cloacked T2 units I find quite effective to get vision more early in the game, especially with hounds/snipers iso tick spam, but require more micro, though sometimes you can park them quite effectively next to some terrain feature. I make a few, and then at times I micro one or 2 of them to try and do good damage, they die or I pull them back, do some eco, and then again. Or I just micro them and let teammates do their thing, has worked really well a few times for me. Love the content, and I learned to backline from you hehe, as I am also still a noob, thx.
I only wish I were good enough to offer any advice. GG, you did very well under the circumstances. You also demonstrated that I have much to learn to be only slightly proficient.
since you had a comm in the bottom right you could have made a small spam base there to relieve pressure. also, you should always have a squad of rezz bots following your border expanding army. reclaim/revive are invaluable tools for frontline.
You did really well considering your team mates left you! I would just advise when you're on the back foot intelligence is really important - I think throwing some spy planes over would inform you about the nukes and Thor push that was coming - then you can counter appropriately
Hey man I'm just starting to get into this game and loving it, love your skill level as well 😊 I was wondering if in your videos you could narrate some of the more basic things like the commands you're using and full names of things with their acronym 😊 I'm sure that would make your content a lot more accessible to new players! As I'm having difficulty getting anywhere near your level without knowing a lot of the commands that I can tell that you know
So good to see you moving away from backline cheese strats into some solid gameplay. You did great don't want to nitpick coz hindsight is easy but you did ask for advice. I was worried when you high prioritized the pawns, when spam is for vision you need a trickle not a flood, when spam is for soaking shots you want it bigger. I think the defenses on the cliff you worried about too much I think you could have stomped through mid or caves regardless of it. I think you needed to improve your flood strength over time. Half the metal from pawns into welders and you would have had a formidable army and skip the air altogether maybe some rocket spiders who knows.
Armada hounds actually have a weapon swap, from arcing plasma to straight firing gauss. Gauss is better at hitting fast mobile units, but deals less damage and no AOE.
Since you asked for feedback then I will point out where it felt like you went wrong. The T1 spam should be done with more purpose, if you keep it up forever for no clear reason it will cut like half of your metal income just to stall the game. The enemy just sits there and are gaining a resource advantage over you. Also, you shouldn't obsess too much about reclaiming lower tech power generators early. If you do the math, the next tier is barely more cost efficient, so your are basically wasting a lot of constructor time over a bit of metal. So normal solar collectors are better reclaimed once you build fusion. And advanced solar is pretty darn cost efficient, I like to keep them around in order to not have all the energy production too centralized.
As always fun video to watch although I think good lane opponent would punish you for such greedy start and fast t2. Enemy could just switch to vehicles and push your defences easily.
hi drongo widrage this side i recendly started playing bar and still new to game i will apreciate if you can make a individual video about the game basic and the skill required to like a pro by the way love the content you make thank you
Hey Drongo, I was listening to your video the other day where you were talking about memories with your dad. Can you do more videos like that with casual commentary?
I can’t understand for the life of me why people don’t said it to see the icons at all times. The game is literally unplayable unless I can see the icons no matter how much I zoom in or out
This game should have been over ages ago given how many players you were down. I think your chance to win was building a massive air raid and trying to knock out a couple of their backline players. But odds were massively against you
You could have taken bottom right of the map and just scaled like nuts once you had some static up there. You did really well covering team mates though. Awesome gameplay!
The early game play into the gauntlet and trying to push directly above you had you over devout resources--particularly your time and attention. You really like to reclaim materials and buildings. The time that your builders are spending reclaiming is time they are not spending building the things that win you the game like sustained economy. If you weren't playing multiplayer and dealing with considerations like lagging other players then I'd be saying noting that energy buildings are in some sense unrestricted, and you can convert energy to metal. Ideally, your whole team would be pouring every bit of excess energy into metal production. You spend a lot of time fixated on clicking units around, and you neglect giving similar attention and time to your fleets of construction bots; it is clear to me that you have issues with messiness and disorder of bases, but outside of considerations of other player's territories, you should get a lot more comfortable with going grey goo on the map and taking up more space. When the other players started bowing out that was "it's free real estate" and one of the players even left you with a construction fleet to immediately and explosively expand your economy; the cloaked fusion over there was not bad choice, but you could have developed secondary base to start spamming units from two points on the map instead of giving them the consistent pattern of the single lane. Also, they likely relaxed their defense and concentration of units on the right side of the map because they thought that side/lane had been almost entirely neutralized which means you had potential for element of surprise. Finally, your commander has a lot of build power. Notice with StarDoM how much time they spend NOT moving the commander in the early game and just standing in place building. Whenever the commander or any construction bot is moving it is not building; you're losing build time. Setting up defensive fronts is good and claiming distant metal mines or reclaiming things on the map is good, but these are things that should probably be delegated to expendable and secondary forces.
Look mate this is where you went wrong. All your team mates left and you were front and your eco players, in their own word, “just suck” so work on that and you’ll be almost as good as me (a pip 10 true score)in no time. Epic game great fortitude
It's not necessarily a play, but I feel like you have lost a lot of effective DPS from your snipers/annihilators cause you didn't build a few pinpointers in the base. Difficult to know how that would impact the game but probably wouldnt hurt :D
Why not share metal with players when you are at or reaching the cap? Your teal player on the right (only true skill 3) was holding the flank quite well but was stuck at 40 metal income and no metal in the bank for more than half the game.
This is a beef of everything that followed TA. What is this map / zoom system? In TA we could see everything fine, even when we used larger resolutions....how come here I am either zoomed in to the max where I cannot see what is happening or I'm forced to play a game where I don't see my beautiful units anymore? Where is the balance?
Should have given the stuff bottom right to someone else immediately thats too much micro, tbh was a cursed game from the start with almost nobody your side taking their lane properly
Around the thirty min mark or just after you should have been pumping thors. Not bombers or snipers or static def. Just thors. Could have been your twelve thors winning the game round 40 mins.

How do you autogroup?
@@LiveforHM Select an unit and press ALT+1, it will put every unit of that type to control group 1.
You can have multiple units in one auto group.
That comment iy gold. Really struggle with managing mixed compositions as there are no formations like in AoE
I'm happy this is helping out people months later!
god comment

Aircraft in BAR don't leave wrecks like they do in FAF.
Scouting a run though, that's universal good advice, yeah.

The missed radar and secret construction bots at the start lol. Makes me feel better about my own mistakes.
Good content!

Can you or somebody explain the the command that was given at 35:58. Mainly how its given, Grid keys would be nice.

how do you rotate buildings?
Square bracket keys by default

how do you do the front of the q in the factory's i never knew you could do that
Alt click and it will add to front of queue

Spiders that shoot rockets on the mountains take out that base he had with ez, also best way to win this would be get better teammates lol

I can't believe Drongo doesn't recognise All American Sportsball Star Sleve McDichael
Unlucky mate I watched to the end very gripping watching you on the precipice for the whole game
u dont just send ticks on some long move queue...u gotta micro them otherwise might as well not waste the time and resources on them.
I would love this game if it had an active pause. In single player of course.. I cannot enjoy it without it...
As chmod777 I fed so much metal to your team in the canyons. oof.
Sharpshooters come and go.
But artillery accumulates.

If you look at his rank you can see he is just a beginner, so he is progressing fine. But I think he has concepts down from other RTS games.
