Surprised water is so developed in BAR, kinda used to RTS games jut throwing a rock paper scissors (or even less) dynamic of ship units as an afterthought and be done with it. Seeing it actually fully thought through (With details like construction/scavenging being subs to work on the seafloor, having a decent poool of units, unique set of buildings, etc.) is hella cool

There's some really good casters covering this game right now and you are most certainly one of them.

One of my favorite maps. A top notch water player not only wins their side, but can also lay down some heavy pressure on the middle. A single battleship or missile cruiser can wreak havoc.

Woooooo I can’t believe Drongo is single handedly converting me to a game other than Age of Empires IV.
    Keep casting brother!

There's an alternate starting build you can do that makes an amphib constructor to take the island, then walks the commander to the bay position where the additional 3 mexes are. The sea lab comes out late, but it doesn't matter - you can lose it, rebuild, and still get enough navy to kill the opponent with your large eco advantage.
And for the record, dolphins are strong but against a player with a largely frigate composition and who knows how to micro, you will lose. Core is playable in the early game against dolphins with some subs, then move into frigates and destroyers. The result encourages your opponent to donate their dolphins and metal, give you an advantage faster.

Drongo we need more BAR content from you. Nothing against Brightworks or anything but the australian accent is much nicer and you really help people get into the game by explaining so much. Your videos are so entertaining i even started watching the aoe ones even if i never played it.

A good thump of rule for games with this type of resource system: reclaim goes into improving economy (M+E+bp), and only static income goes towards production (at least until late game, or during frontline fights).

I've been trying this, pretty sick build.
If you can't boot the enemy out of the sea with those dolphines, going straight into submarines is pretty efficient to take down fregates, destroyers and the rest with it.

I'd like to have a peak on Espanols tactic with the tidal generators inside the lake. It looks like a smart idea as it is not that easy to get hit by a bombing run while supplying a more steady amount of energy compared to wind.

What an absolute unit Black Water is! Well played! I love to watch this videos by you Drongo, because that way i learn more about this game, different strats, different ways of doing things! I see it all comes to knowledge of your units and what they are good at, key thing is to have ballanced ECO/BP and maintain improvement, or scaling, comunicating with teammates while trying to win your lane early and help when you can later! I love this game! I see it has much more pottential to grow, im comming from SupComFA and this game is just super! I can only wish for some more UI improvements, talking about the units and being easier for newer players like myself to understand how to get from T1 to T2 and eventualy to T3, also the deffence would be nice to be separated by Land/Air/Naval etc.. Keep the videos comming!

  • @timoschofer2035

Probably my preferred start spot too. I think it's the options u have on this position that makes it strong and a good player who knows to take advantage of the possibilities. E.g my starting game is similar like this player - probably i am a bit later in water. i play with the mindset to attempt to get sea without overdoing it. If i can get it done fine, if not i don't waste much resources but swap fast into t2 and focus on eco. Later on i rush sea and hopefully land too. The wide enemy shoreline gives also a lot of opportunities to attack

Awesome replay, taught me a lot, thanks!
I'm really curious now how he would play against an equally skilled player on his side of the map but he covered himself pretty well on all fronts during the entire match so he would be pretty hard to hold back I think lol.

I like to back up my long-range navy pressure (flagships or missiles) with an anti-nuke carrier, radar jammer, and some T2 anti-air ships.
Really need to improve my air game though, that was a very smooth transition here!

if you consider metal only then afus costs 2.9 metal per 1e produced, arm wind turbine costs 37 metal, it gives us ~13 windpower to match afus, for core it's 45 metal so ~15 windpower, but unit limit and not infinte space make it far less optimal

    • @MrHaggyy
      @MrHaggyy 9 месяцев назад

I like scaling to ~ 40 windmills. You scale along the way and don't have to wait for the big jump in power.
Then i reclaim to get the space and keep reclaiming to have the metal. But you can't reclaim to fast either or you loose to much power while transitioning.

Are you planning on casting Sanctuary (latest upcoming Total Annihilation successor, like BAR is) rts when it comes out? Also could consider casting Zero-K, which like BAR is another TA successor already out (and available for free on Steam btw).

He had a very easy game against enderSCFA. He literaly hadn´t much units. Most games are quite different than this, in this spot. You have a very hard time, conquering sea here.
This is not a blueprint, this doesn´t work 90% of the time.

What impresses me is that anyone can actually play this game. I can't get more than ten minutes into a game, even single player before it crashes. No idea what the issue is. I can run the benchmark test at max settings with zero issues. I've uninstalled and reinstalled like 4 times, I've turned the graphics all the way down, nothing helps. Feels bad man
