  • Lovely graphics and music, as well as a seemingly faithful approach to Dungeons & Dragons aesthetics, offset some difficult aspects of the controls and selection of sub-weapons. And you can play 4 player simultaneous play! Choose from Fighter, Cleric, Elf and Dwarf and free various villages from nasty foes in this scrolling hack-and-slash beat-em-up, which features several instances where you can take multiple paths to reach your goal. You'll be prompted to choose where to go at certain points at the game, and some paths may be easier than others. Each character can do the same moves-- you can do a strong overhead strike, block with your shield, crouch and walk, dash forward (and attack or jump attack during), to a forward roll, do a special attack while crouching, do a special attack while blocking, attack enemies while they're downed, and do some sort of slide.. a number of these are really hard to perform correctly, and can lead to frustration, so just keeping a few easier to perform but handy attacks in the back of your brain would be wise, like the dash attack, downed enemy strike, and overhead strike-- perhaps especially for bosses. Each character can collect money (to use in shops which unfortunately only have the same items/weapons every time), spells, magic bracelets, hammers, knives, arrows, keys (for some treasure chests, but for the most part you can break or pick up and throw them to reveal their contents), etc.; but also beware that some chests that hold some of these items may trigger traps to wound you. The characters can also utilize the weapons/spells as "sub-weapons", via holding the jump button to cycle through them and then the third button to use them-- this is really awkward and stupid. But the graphics, music, sounds and fantasy elements really win you over (even with the action getting a little redundant). The later sequel DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: SHADOW OVER MYSTARA is also well-worth checking out. Another winner by Capcom! Hope you had a great weekend, or in my case, vacation-- and I hope to see you soon for a request I'm honoring next.

What a fantastic game D&D: Tower of Doom is by Capcom Russ. I use to be so into this game and loved the music. In fact, back in High School, I burned a CD for me to listen for me while I was walking to my bus stop with my Sony Walkman so I can pretend I was strolling through the game myself for fun. 8^)
I miss those days for sure Russ. Thank you for sharing this with us. I loved it the moment it started. 8^)

Glad you enjoyed this, Anthony! As far as great game soundtracks go I used to play Sonic CD and Sonic 2's soundtracks at work. Jamming tunes! I should finish Gururin tonight after work.

I loved this game. The second game is better but only because they took everything great about this game and made it better!
I'm a long time D&D fan so this kind of game was so much fun for me.

Thanks; I don't really follow the D&D series that much so I can't tell what they would say.
