Blackadder is one of those series that really nailed every single casting.
Well, you could never really go wrong with Rik & Ade!
I hope to every God that is recognized (and a few of the unrecognized ones) that in 30 years time they DON’T recreate this with a new cast. Because I can guarantee it’ll be COMPLETE CRAP!
The cast is a royal flush!
The director had a cunning plan
Truer words have never been written.
Everybody was genuinely hurt at Rik's death.
Flashheart was played by Rik Mayall.
I thought Rik meant RICHthofen and tried to figure out the meaning...
Endless, endless poetry....
+Negativebunnyhunters It was indeed a Bleak Midwinter....
Hi baby come live with me lots of love
My experience in GSCE English in a nutshell
WOOF
WOOF
bark!
God, it's like Crufts in here!
Iiiiiiiiiiit's me! Hooray! *backhands Baldrick*
And from now on the furniture has to do without. Rest in peace mister Mayall
Cool name
I still quote these scenes with my brother like 25+ years later
What an absolute legend Rik Mayall was. There will never be another like him.
The blood the noise the endless poetry.RIP RIK
One of my favourite comedy moments when Ade goes into his monologue as the baron, and then Rik just simply shoots him haha. Oh Rik, this is such a sad day!
"What a puff!"
"Where have you been?"
"Where haven't I been!? WOOF!" This guy was a legend, RIP Rik
RIP Lord Flashheart. WOOF!
Bark !
RIP Rik. You made a lot of people very happy.
Every single time we had a reason to do nothing serious - last day before the holidays, anything really- my secondary school history teacher would wheel in a TV and put this episode on. He loved Flashheart, said all the lines along with him, and laughed the loudest at all the jokes.
He also did an amazing Crazy Frog impression, and mimed (with excellent sound effects) opening and drinking a can of coke.
Weird guy. But he was a great teacher, and he introduced me to Blackadder, something I still find hilarious, after years of repeated re-watching.
James Bennett Flasheart was based on Flashman, from a series of hilarious books, now on sale at Oxfam for 10p each. They're really good, though, especially Flashman at the Charge.
The Flashman novels by George MacDonald Fraser depict Flashman as a self confessed coward so there is no possibility whatsoever that Flasheart was based on Flashman. They are however, a fantastic read and I would recommend them to anyone except you, Michael Martin as you do them a disservice having obviously not read them.
In a sea of dross there were certainly some teachers who stood out as gems, rather like life I suppose
Rick and Ade always worked so well together. Glad Ade was able to get a bit part in this episode.
My God. I never found the 4th series that good but when Lord Flasheart shoots the Red Baron I just laugh out louder then any other episode of the Blackadder
I have loved Ade and Rik since seeing them on mtv in the Young Ones and the (British) Comic Strip! This scene might be my absolute favorite!!! Comedy doesn't get any funnier then this!
Imagine if Rik had done a spin off series as Lord/Squadron Commander Flashheart. That would've been epic.
It would have been too much. A few moments of pure gold are enough for the world.
@@dirkvantroyen9170 Haha too true mate
Gonna disagree. The magic was in Flasheart having Edmund to play off
RIP Rik my old mate. Glad to see have seen you live and you were even funnier when things went wrong that the script allowed. THE godfather of comedy.
For years I'd watched this episode without ever seeing The Young Ones or Bottom. Now I have... and everything makes SOOO much more sense. xD
"Shush, KV, mum's the word, not half or WHAT!"
One of my favourite scenes in my favourite Blackadder Goes Forth episode (not counting the finale because that's just the perfect finale of any TV show EVER!)
All I can think of in all the shows these two have been in, this is the one time Rik gets the last laugh on Ade. I love it!!!
I love that whether it was The Young Ones, Filthy Rich & Catflap or Bottom, Rik always wrote himself as the loser in the script. This is the one time he beat Ade🤣
Wonderful. Thanks for the memories Rik Mayall.
I like how he swings in through the door on a rope that just magically appears for no reason
RIk has passed away thanks for the laughs.
I don't think he passed away he just ran out of women in this level of existence to shag.
RIP you legend
We'll miss you Rik..... but won't forget you
"As the Bishop said to the netball team, C'mon chaps!"
RIP Lord Flashheart. :(
that entrance cracks me up everytime. ITS MEE HORAY!
That last line... Brilliant! *BANG*
Woof! Woof!
1.29 is one of my favourite comedy one liners. Rik was a genius! RIP

My favourite black adder scene of all time and Rik Mayall was my favourite character
Now i may be packing the kind of tackle that you'd normally expect to find swinging about between the hind legs of a Grand National winner
One of the greatest comedy scenes EVER
Flashheart and Bombardier Bedford. Two British heroes played by Rik Mayall. RIP Rik.
Must have seen this a thousand times!
RIP RICK you were a legend
"new color called hint of brain!"
It is spelt "colour" in English spoken by the English.
unnecessary
Well that's clear let's get back to that lovely war than!
Pankaj, good English name. Funny thing, the Scots spel it exactly the same.
@MrOverCritical1989 says the arsehole with no content
R.I.P you will be truly missed
My local PBS station was (apparently) afraid the Blackadder series would offend viewers, as they ran it very late at night on saturday or sunday. As a consequence, of the 4 different time periods this show portrayed, I was only ever able to see this final series in its entirety. As a retired military person, I found most of the series to be spot on even though it detailed a long ago time period.
Yes, excellent casting, most of the actors would stick with the show through all 4 time periods. Fry and Laurie in particular, are great.
If you have a chance, try to watch the whole series, the final episode is both funny...and sobering.
the final scene is my favourite scene in television, if not my favourite scene full stop. sobering is the perfect word for it - really portrayed and communicated how it must have really felt for all those men
"we lived through The Great War! 1914 to 1917!" really hits you right in the chest.
RIP funny man, you'll be sadly missed :(
Ade and rick, dosn't get better.
RIP.
We shall not see their likes again in our lifetime.
Whoah, I just now realised that the Baron is played by Adrian Edmondson! And I've been a huge fan of Blackadder for decades.
I am so very very saddened to read of his passing today. Lord Flashheart will always be my very favorite tv character. Thank you Rik for all the laughs, even tonight when I feel so very much like crying...
Slackadder!😮😅🤓😎✌🏻
iiiiiitttt's meee!

flashheart should have got a spin off series
"Sorry chaps but i'v splintered my pancreas" XD
That is a lot of talent in one room.
Love it when he just shoots Von Richthofen.
This is just THE BEST.
Absolute class
Kudos to you sir, that may well be the best response I have ever heard in the history of ever. You have officially won the internet.
one of the best comedians of our time.
This encapsulates England vs the continent

So much damn poetry, and so damn little of it about Vanessa Redgrave.
RIP!

Flashheart is Hero!
WOOF!
WOOF!
Bark!
We miss you Rik but your family and Ade most of all.
Viv and Rik reunited!
You are right; however, it is definitely 'definitely'
Goodnight Commander :(
Goodbye Rik
Ade actually looks like the Red Baron here. Just google a picture...he looks closer then actors that played in biopics
Poor Rik. RIP Sir!
Love how flashhearts scream is almost too loud for the mic
"I seem to have splintered my pancreas!"
Flashheart is a character that Definately needs his own series
*Definitely
If any of you are even remotely amused by Flashheart's character then I must most heartedly recommend you pick up "Flashman" the novel. It is in fact entirely unrelated as pertaining to Blackadder but the main protagonist's similarity to Flashheart is uncanny.
+Parsa you might find that is because it partially inspired The Lord Flasheart himself. There is an interview when they point it out
Thanks TCK I'll look it up. Imagine if Rik had done a Flashheart spin off show.
Is it Flashman the 1969 novel by George MacDonald Fraser?
@@TheTruthKiwi That's the one... MacDonald Fraser also wrote the screenplay for the Three and Four Musketeers from '73, which has the same cheeky, swashbuckling style to it, which I found myself really liking.
@@MrJingres Ahhh, cool. Cheers mate.
My God, I agreed with Flashheart!
