If you were travelling through space, hopping from planet to planet, who would you like to bring along as your companions? I'd for sure bring The Rock with me!
My best friend and husband. They'd protect me at all costs 😅
Sigourney Weaver!
And Crypto
My gf and every ferret ever
Hey Completionist have you done Darkest Dungeon yet?
Depends on which universe I'm going into space in. A trip to this one, I think I'd bring the ship Serenity and her crew for.
I appreciate all of the comments correcting the part where this is a “AAA” video game. Obsidian is not a AAA developer. In their own words. AA. Like. They’re not Indy. But they don’t have the money to be AAA haha.
Thank you was looking for this comment it triggered me when he said this game was a triple A game. When the budget was not.
Calling it AA does it more justice than wrongly calling it a AAA game. They did some great work
@@AlbaTartufolius i appreciate you not just shitting on fallout 4. And also being realistic with the outer worlds
They sure sold the game at 60$
Santiago Martinez that doesn’t make it a triple A game
"If you're born with the name Phineas, there's a 100% chance you're gonna grow up into a mad scientist.
Phineas: Ferb, what's he talking about?
Ferb: *shrugs*
You forgot the second (")
まるちゃん until right now"
Technically, there was this one episode "The Monster of Phineas-n-Ferbestein" where Phineas is portrayed as a mad scientist
Is my son safe? Hes named Phineus, with a U not an A. Just need to know if I need to watch my back or not.
Who said he forgot it?
I actually praised how they handled companions...
When something happens, it doesnt just say "X disliked that", they actually have things to say, in which Felix and Ellie were great together due to how opposites their personalities/values are, and there were times where my decisions were affected by them
Yea i loved when they give their opinion before i have to make a decision, makes me feel more immersed
@@maltheman96 ye like in the final mission. I tried to convince the chairman to join me and Felix said he would be done with my bullshit and kill both of us if I joined him while nyoka didn’t give a shit either way
YES! I often find myself pairing two characters just to see how they react with one another (Unfortunately leads me to not bringing SAM too often, though he's adorable). Also I just ADORE how different characters have different reactions based on your location and actions!
They do that sometimes In Fallout too.
I took the both of them to do the gordon d l c. It was Is pretty awesome having someone who is In love with The whole concept of the thing and then have it juxtaposed against ellie who was literally not having Any of this. Felix is having the time Of his life quite literally having an extra sense of conflict Beyond his trip out. And then you just got Ellie. This is just normal, this is just what corporations do.
Remember the part in Fallout New Vegas where Mr House says he wanted to send tons of spaceships out to begin anew on other planets? Sure are a lot of business themes with him and the entire game of Outer Worlds. Guess that ending is canon?
Edit: Had to edit the MR. to Mr because apparently Mr.House is an actual website
Glad to see someone did pay attention to fallout new vegas
I mean..... That would explain why so much is made of junk and most of the people are morons.
Best AA game I’ve played in recent memory. The low budget was handled extremely well. In fact, it almost feels like a AAA game to me.
Honestly bro. I wanted to like it, it wasn't bad but it was just boring. It wasn't very interesting and the fact it kept hitting you ober the head with the message was just annoying
try kingdom come deliverance great AA game
It feels more like borderlands + wall of useless boring text. Most of the lines give you 0 helpful info and borderlandish 5 guns for the whole game.
Just 27 hours? I spent 52 hours getting trough my first play trough. The little extra exploration gave me some new options down the line in how I solved missions, and evolved the story.
(But, it's of course possible to get trough it much faster than my play trough)
i spent 62, pretty much explored any area that i felt like i hadn’t cleared out and it made me feel way more invested and it paid off with everyone pulling up at the end for me vs the Board
Well keep in mind that for Jirard this is work, he can't afford to spend hundreds of hour on one game and probably played it with achievement in mind to be as proficient as possible
@@Txur_Itan I don't think "what he can afford" is all that relevant. I'm still impressed that he got trough it all in 27 hours.
@Telruin
Can relate. My first playthrough was I think 67 hours. It was such an experience to behold, I felt that rushing would've been a crime.
It's definitely one of the shortest games of this type I've ever played. Even doing lol the side content, it only took me 30 hours
In the words of Todd Howard, “it just works”
Glctc Thnkr “16x the detail”
Tell me lies tell me sweet little lies
Stupid Google go where you want do what you want
imagine in a parallel universe where it actually did
This time it actually does lol
The one "flaw" I disagree with is the lack of scale/size, I found that to be refreshing and encourages multiple playthroughs. I am happy the game doesn't take an insane amount of time to beat, I have enough 100+ hour games.
Yes but I'd fucking love another monarch-sized planet for dlc (Hepaestus? )
I wouldn't mind DLC done right, but the game as is never bored me, never seemed padded, and encourages multiple playthroughs. I just don't see it as a flaw, perfect length, size, scale, IMO.
@@hepwo91222 the gun combat is definitely padded runtime for the game (go here , shoot marauder , comeback , talk , oh you forgot other marauder camp other side of planet that has a device we need) its not like you can talk your way out of a fight , you either sneak melee or shoot, imagine for a second guns wernt in the game (obviously I know its a fps) what would you do? Talk and walk

Suuuure, “alternate” future.
Well, Wibbly Wobbly Timey Whimey Stuff...
Well, yeah. Humanity is still exploring space in that future.
@@Alakaizer humanity existing, wuuaaaah?!
I wonder if a corporation built world was made off the inspiration if Bethesda. Lmao.
It could be a sequel to New Vegas. Mr. House grand plan was to go into space.
love this game, imaging it having a AAA budget, they should definitly make a second part which improves what the first game has done
they recently confirmed dlc/expansion for this game which I am super hyped for.
The 2nd one has been confirmed btw, with of course a much bigger budget

You talked about long loading times and I was confused but then I saw you played it on console
I also played on console and i didnt have the issues he had. Actually i disagreed with him about a lot.
I also played on the PS4, I didn't think the loading times were long, but I felt there was a lot more loading screens because of how the world was designed.
I experienced the longer load times, but it might be because I'm on an original PS4, not a slim or a pro. My roommate's load times were alot faster and he is on a slim, and also has an SSD drive.
Console bad pc good hahahahahahahaha
the companions in this game are the best one ive ever experience so far in this fallout style games. it actually feels like you have companions and ending uuughh the ending i was like a dad so proud of how his children grow
I know the feelin. When I beat it, it felt like I was the parent of the Is entire colony. My guy had to look after everyone. I'll be honest. I wouldn't even trust half of the people who live In the colony, to be able to cook a box of macaroni and cheese and not set themselves on fire. These poor delusion filled people need a parent figure.
I have it on my Steam wishlist. When it comes out on Steam, I'm going to buy it and make a character named Ferb Welles.
Outer Worlds is a Double A not a Tripple A game.
dang really
they sold it for a full 60 bucks and therefor deserve to be held to the same standard as any other triple A game.
Double a games
Now that's a phrase I have not heard in a long time
I hate the Double AA or Triple AAA gaming lingo, in baseball lingo it would mean both are NOT ready for the Majors!
Backed financially by Microsoft though
Some of the best games ever made all on one shelf... KOTOR, Fallout, and Outer Worlds!!!
Oh no. I'm watching this video 10 months after it released. The poor Completionist Legacy Tour got cancelled. Damn COVID.
I definitely felt the slow loading times. It was annoying when I went back to a town to finish a bunch of quests one after the other, going from loading screen to loading screen going from house to house...
I highly disagree agree over the lack of scale; do you know how refreshing it is to not play a new game that's not a 100 hours long???
The game ran well for me at least.
I loved the companions, I liked their little questlines and have interesting things to say sometimes.
Maybe I’m too used to Bethesda’s lackluster attempt at making companions.
7:42 didn't they come out before its release and say its not actually a "AAA" game but "AA" ? Can't hear "AAA" in anything other than Jim Sterlings voice now 🙈
It's definitely a AA game, it wasn't fair of Jirard to compare it to the budget of AAA games.
@@craigdyas1091 why
AAA is a made up term. Anyone can give it to themselves.
@@chrisspellman5952 so is every term
@Java Monsoon Sure your opinion is in the minority for your view of the game, regardless; the AAA term is in reference to the budget of a game not the price point at sale. So I would still say it's at least a little off base.
When I played it at launch on the pc, there was 1 glitch which wasn't game breaking, and loading never took more than a few seconds, and quick loading was usually less than a second. Of course, I have an m.2 ssd...
I really liked the game, probably my favorite of 2019.
Weird flex but ok
Yeah I had like no load times playing on PC so I was wondering what he meant, but then I realized he played on PS4
I have no idea why he keeps reviewing the worst versions of games in his videos.
@@Oshamoff because the whole point of his channel is he beats and platinums every game he reviews in a week. Key word platimums. His channel revolves around trophies and the ps4 that's why
Runs with practically no load time on the Xbox One X. PS4 just has really bad load times with almost all games I’ve played on mine
I don't know how you didn't like the companions. I absolutely loved 'em.
Parvati and Felix were my favorites.
I loved Pavarti’s loyalty mission, I got so into her relationship problems. SHES SO CUTE!
"This game is all about personality."
Exactly why I love this game.
Personality? This game is as spicy as white bread lol
I got The Outer Worlds on my Switch, and it is a FANTASTIC game. It’s so funny! Honestly, it’s one of the most memorable games I have played. It’s not perfect, but not every game needs to be perfect. It’s gonna stick with me for a long time, which is what I want out of a game: an engrossing experience that allows me to live a very different life.
This game left me wanting...
Wanting more!! Can't wait for a sequel!
Well didn’t they announce it a while ago
@@callmepsycho3132 Yup!

I really liked Ellie and Parvati they were my friends I got so infested in there stories even more than the main story
While I didn't love The Outer Worlds, and it wasn't what I was expecting (something even better than New Vegas), it was alright.
deadass felt like Luffy at Marineford when everyone who i helped throughout the game showed up to help me in the final mission 😭😭
I really disagree with the gripe about the companions. I loved Max, Parvati, Nyoka and Ellie's companion quests and found myself very attached to them.
Max was decent and I enjoyed it, Nyoka I thought was meh but alright I guess. Ellie was my favourite companion and thought hers was way too short.. Felix was broken in my game and honestly I forgot he existed until I went for his quest and found it was broken. Parvati seems to be where they put the most effort into the companions though. A long well done and different companion quest. I think overall they were decent but could've been more fleshed out but as the game was on the shorter side it was understandable.
Max after his quest is the best fucking thing, his fucks given afterwards dropped to 0 in my game.
Parvati and Ellie were my typical choices, I wasn't really interested in the others much.
Literally put aside the main quest when I learned I could get Parvati a girlfriend
I took vicar Max and Felix with me almost everywhere, but I absolutely loved all the companions and their quests
"Because if you're born with the name Phineas, there's a 100% chance you're gonna grow up to be a mad scientist."
Well, now I know what name to give my son:)
I love that games have developed to a point where we complain about 30 second load times.
This was the most "OK" game I've played in a long time. I liked it but I JUST liked it. I think the second one will be awesome.
I've been loving the crap out of the outer worlds, that is all.
I kinda disagree with your opinion on the companions. I don't think they're just there. I see them as great compadres for your entire journey, and c'mon! Junlei is a sweetie! She's not just there!
Junlei isn’t a companion at all. Do you mean Parvati?
@@katrose5179 I did. Dammit, and I just played that game a month ago!
@@MoonSpiritChannel I find it weirder that you managed to mix up her name with Junlei. It sort of makes sense seeing they have a pertinent relationship in the game I could see the brain connecting them but it's obviously someone of asain descent, you think that would hit a chord for you lol

Yeah looks like Gerard is playing on PS4 as opposed to PC - which can have MUCH faster load times.
Don't worry it gets better over time.
Use SSDs in ur PS4s. Load times fixed.
Only it was literally advertised as a AAA due to the fact that Obsidian designed it and wanted it to be a AAA..... Are you like.... Dysfunctional in the head??
@@mattsummers3142 it’s not though. They made it clear that they faced many limitations during the production of the game since it was the first one they’d designed and published themselves. And I was never under the impression this was AAA. Especially when I picked the game up for a cool $40...
That's how I felt everytime Vicar Max spoke to me. "Yeah, dude..whatever, shut up and get away from me"
Finally, someone that REALLY talks about this game and gives it justice.
I really hate that I wasn’t able to negotiate peace between the MSI and Iconoclasts just because I thought I had done an optional objective but I hadn’t
Outer worlds is basically the Firefly game for fans of Firefly that we didn't know we wanted but absolutely needed
I think you have to find your own reason to care about the companion’s quests, because I was totally invested in Parvati’s quest to date Junlei.
That heavy metal music got me everytime.
Completing this game was exhilarating. It was an awesome journey!! I'm super keen for upcoming DLC!!
They emphasized heavily that this was NOT Triple-A game. Obsidian called it
more of a “Double-A” game.
So much Fallout that you'd expect Fallout Boy to play in the background
My brother and I had a lot of fun with this game. It was honestly one of my favourite games that came out last year.
So glad the skits are back!
Great vid been waiting for this one for a while
Bethesda should just let Obsidian make the next elder scrolls
Damn right.
avowed be like:
Dude it isn't a AAA game. It's incredibly underfunded. Its actually a miracle the game is as big as it is with it's budget and 30 second loading times is worth it compared to quest ruining glitches. The game is overall a showcase to show everyone what Obsidian can do.
great review it was awesome to see you do one with the boys and the "personalities" they each have are kind of hilarious if you have any inkling who they really are in real life also glad you are still doing your tour I'm gonna do my best to go see you live since that is sure to be a blast

I've been playing The Outer Worlds for a few weeks now. I'm so down with the fact that you're covering it!!
Outer worlds is really one of that hidden gem that many people missed. The game hardly got any promos. Great game for rpg lovers.
I dunno i remember getting a ton of ads for it
my highlight of last year for sure
1:06 you forgot about a pinch of We happy few for the skills and inventory setup.
I disagree with what ya said about the companions, I loved their missions, it certainly made me get to know them better, even the companions I disliked ended up being interesting and captivating after doing their missions, they were all multidimensional and developed outside of their quests, and the game takes into account whether or not you did their quests once you get to the ending, so that was one of the best parts of the game lmao
I liked this game but it was one of the shortest RPGs I've ever played.
did every faction you helped pull up for you at the end vs the Board? (unless you sided with the Board)
This looks like an amazing game! Thanks for the review! It was very funny!
Okay it's driving me insane, what is the music that plays when Bradley is talking!? I know I know it but I just can't remember what it's from!
The only thing the companions lacked was..
more interaction amongst themselves.
More dialogue options after key events.
But as far as the characters themselves they all attributed something different.
Just wish they had more but alas... AA not AAA.
More than kingdom deliverance less than mass effect.
I agree, I would have loved to hear them chatting with each other more while you travel with them. I would have encouraged me to actually switch my team around more often just to see the interactions.
Hey Jirard,
First and foremost, love your work. That said, I have absolutely no clue what you mean about the companions. I thought all of them were delightful, especially Parvati with her cute awkwardness.
@@CaptPonyholder She's also partly lesbian!
She’s definitely more interesting than any of Skyrim’s companions except maybe Serana and Ciscero who unlike Parvati, can get on my nerves considering how they never shut up.
“I’m No FaN oF tHe SuN bUt It WoUlD bE bEttEr ThAn ThIs”
Seriously Bethesda if anything needs toning down it’s the dialogue, Jesus Christ.

@@CaptPonyholder it's Ashly Burch, sister of the legendary megacuck himself Anthony Burch.
And the writing lead for the game is a pronoun warrior lady.
I enjoyed the game, but my gods those people are fucking insufferable
I loved the companions too, with akward dork Parvati as my favorite. We switched everyone out but her just cuz I like her passion for machines and her little understanding of the world. I always enjoyed her perspective when contrasted with others and it made me want to keep triggering dialog whenever I could.
I didn't get the companion joke until half-way in. The meta joke of companion stereotypes was HILARIOUS!!!
Yes been waiting for this😆
7:50 - I wouldn't exactly call it a AAA game, Jirard. Obsidian working as an indie developer with Private Division as their publisher (Private Division being a publisher that specifically aims to empower independent devs) does not bring with it the same benefits that AAA game devs and publishers do, no matter how much of an existing reputation the developer may have.
I really didn't like the leveling system because it made it too easy to make a master of all, with how the companions skill levels combine with yours. Not to mention the fact that you level three skills at once with one skill level until the skills of that group hit level 50. I was a god pretty easily in my playthroughs even on the harder difficulties. Also a lot of the perks to me at least felt extremely basic and lackluster, some of them feeling next to useless. Another thing I didn't like was that the marauders (this games version of fallouts raiders) had literally no dialogue and no character to them outside of things npcs say about them here and there. They're just guys to shoot at that are spread out in small predictable areas. Other than those two shortcomings (the leveling systems and some of the enemies), and it being a little too short, I liked it quite a lot. It felt a lot like it was a small intro to what will hopefully be an rpg that's deeper and larger in scope in possible future installments.
I agree. There wasn't much character building or interesting progression. The level ups were frankly the worst I've seen for a long time with boring shit like "do 10% more damage" with none of the upgrades changing your playstyle. Weapons are too limited are are reskinned by the end of the very short campaign.
@@WillToNihilsm oh yeah, I forgot about the gear. I almost laughed when one of the end game armors were just a dull gold reskin of one of the earlier models. I just think they should have spent another couple years working on the game, and it would've been better. Let's hope if there's sequel its higher quality.
The ending I got was me being in charge and nobody knows it. I was happy about that ending since it was funny and it worked for what type of character I was playing.
The fact that I am willing to play a first person game when I could never get used to those types of games and tolerate the loading times (Though I am playing on PS5 so idk if that effects the load times much or not) just because the game’s lore interests me is testimony imo.
Just like you said about the choices, even though Spacer’s Choice was treating their people horribly my choice of who to direct the power to was a tough choice for me to the point I put it off to work on side quests. Even if Reed was bad, seeing all the people on Edgewater not knowing what to do after the power was out and Reed sitting in the dark cannery tell you “You and I have nothing else to discuss” still hurt.
Imagine if this game was actually an AAA instead of AA.
Does Playstation 5 improve on performance?
The OP companion is S.A.M. On supernova he is a must
Really, I never used him, no loyalty quest kinda left me without knowing his character very well.
By the end I mostly ran with Max and Ellie or Nyoka.
To be honest though the companions were kind of meh, the writing just felt far weaker than Obsidian's previous works.
I hope that it was just a budget issue and not indicative of rot setting in at Obsidian
Pominator it’s funny because I felt like skipping a good portion of the dialog because I found most of it uninteresting Sam was my favorite companion because he has the funniest lines and he just is way over powered
In supernova I used no characters, I knew their bodies would end up as Swiss cheese, I did some of their side quests for the xp but that's as far as I got with them (skipped out parvati because her quest was too long, also did the ending where I killed everyone in the first town so f in the chat I guess)
Daniel Staples I did all the good quests it was my first play through and I will be doing another one with another build
Outer world's didn't have a huge budget so I'm gonna wait for outer world's 2. Microsoft owns them so outer world's 2 should be triple AAA.
Thanks for the video it was helpful.
That small breadpill was a nice bonus

In the video game industry, AAA is a classification term used for games with the highest development budgets and levels of promotion. A title considered to be AAA is therefore expected to be a high quality game and to be among the year's bestsellers.
