I was surprised that "Belkin is milkin" this in the high cost. Otherwise I would be very interested but too pricey. Thanks for a great review and comparison 👍.
Honestly, I think it’s worse. Apple accessories do tend to allow Apple devices to work at their best. Things like their Thunderbolt cables actually perform to specs and don’t have weird gotchas, so you pay, but you get what you paid for, and they will replace it if it doesn’t function as expected and there’s Apple Store to provide reasonable retail service too. Belkin has none of those guarantees.
@@mhtechbd3954 Your comment was completely rude and unnecessary. It only demonstrates your huge ego and lack of social awareness. I think you completely missed his point. He was comparing the temps of Apple wireless charger to Belkin's wireless charger. With a kickstand, and the angle position of the phone it allows for better ventilation of both the charging plate and the phone. This would theoretically allow better tempts (albeit not significantly lower) compared to the official Apple charger, thus his point is not moot. He was not comparing the temps of wireless charging to wired. It's slower for a reason; faster charging means a better thermal solution is needed, otherwise battery health is at risk. This is why most fast Qi wireless chargers have active thermal solutions to negate this issue.
This is a great example of the importance of competition to drive innovation. Imagine how much better the Apple ecosystem would be if it was more open to competition beyond accessories.
More open doesn’t mean better… from when people can’t accept someone identifying as a table…. How would your statement about being more open make it better
got the belkin charger. I love it. I was messing around with my friends apple one and then decided to buy one. At the time the apple one was £45 and the belkin one was like £25 so bit of a no brainer. But I do think the belkin one is better for a few reasons. 1.) The cable is longer and is braided so it reaches more places and is better protected probably going to last longer as well. 2.) The base of the magsafe puck is rubber so it doesn't slip around everywhere and finally the kickstand makes the charger a little more useful while being able to dissipate the heat better allowing for faster charging times.
The Apple "puck" is between slow/lazy and fast/damaging. Wired charging is great for emergency charging when you have to get a charge in a hurry, but there is a price to pay in shortening battery longevity. (Or so I understand)
@@ForumCat I think wireless has a much worse impact than regular wired charging. Maybe I misunderstood your comment though it looks like you said wired charging has the trade-off of battery longevity
@@CarrotMuncher As I understand it the faster you charge the more you reduce the number of times the battery can be recharged. Slower charging is kinder to the chemistry.

Belkin has been a (mostly) high quality third-party accessories supplier for so many years. I remember they were the only readily available french-canadian USB keyboards around 2000 (except for Apple's).
I think it's more accurate to say that the Belkin charges 10% faster than Apple's, as before the Belkin hits 90% the Belkin battery total is consistently 10% higher than Apple. This is great for heavy users, but to help the lithium battery last longer I try to charge it slower and stop at 80%. I wish there was an iPhone (and watch and Mac) setting to stop charging at 80% instead of eventually charging to 100% when I forget to unplug the charger.
@@technicalactivity It's not a myth, but he did misunderstand the problem somewhat. Fully charging a battery isn't what hurts it... keeping it fully charged for long periods of time is what hurts it. So if you charge your battery to 100% and immediately start using it to bring the level down some, it's not going to hurt it. But if you charge your battery to 100% and then just let it sit at that level all night, that degrades it. That's why some Apple devices now only charge to 80% when you plug them in at night and wait until near morning to charge the last 20% to 100. This is especially important for tablets and laptops that might be turned off and not used for extended periods of time. Never charge your laptop to 100%, turn it off, and then just leave it for days or weeks at a time. If you know you aren't going to use it for a while, just stop charging at 80% before turning it off and putting it away. It will be a lot better for the battery.
I guess one big difference is charging with kick stand. The heat can easier dissipate by lifting the phone up. The heat capacity of the pug itself is presumably also higher and the surface is bigger.
how hot is it even going to get when you're watching videos lol. Also if you're concerned about heat, wireless charging is not for you, it's the least efficient and hottest way to charge your phone.
I prefer using the Anker 7.5W as it charges plenty fast but doesn't stress the battery to the same degree. It's very hard to limit your charging to 80% when your phone charges instantly; even with the 7.5W if I'm not extra careful I accidentally charge the phone to 100%.
If you’re that worried don’t use wireless charging. Any wireless charging is going to stress the battery more then wired charging. By the Apple 5 W charging brick and use a wire. I charge my phone to 100% every time just because it’s not worth stressing about a $29 battery on a $1000 phone
No man. Its not worth it First..its expensive Second...no charger brick...(another expense for Anker charger) Third...the speed is not that different.... Coz i charge my phone to 80-85% and plug it at abt 15-20% So 30 min difference doesnt matter
It is going to sound weird, but I prefer to have slow charge. No idea if true but I think slow charger will preserve better your battery. I usually have my mag safe that only use at night and my fast charger that usually is only used when I'm running low and need some extra charge to make it to end of day.

What sold me is the longer cord. Also braided! I bought the Apple one but the cord is just too short. The slightly faster charging is okay but as long as it charges at a similar speed to the Apple one then I’m happy. You kept mentioning that it didn’t have the charging brick as a negative but the Apple one doesn’t come with one either. Pretty good. The drawbacks are (1) can't use in a stand as you said; (2) puck is quite thick. Wondering if Belkin has anyting similar (better?) for iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple screwed up on the MagSafe charger. First Apple producted I think they really screwed up. And by that I mean (1) cord is not detachable; (2) short cord length--do they think every USB or outlet is just 5 feet away or less? Why?? Apple has never been good about cord length. With all these options that tend to have drawbacks I am inclined to just buy a MagSafe case or even a regular thin case and keep using my old Qi chargers. I use the Apple MagSafe charger in my car in a stick-on dashboard holder I found on Amazon. It works perfectly! @@toobalicious I have the black Belkin MagSafe charger in my car! I used some gorilla glue tape to attach it to a scosche dash mount and ran the cable under my trim to the center console so the cable is completely concealed with the exception of where it comes out between trim pieces (about 2 cm of cable exposed)
Love MagSafe on the MacBook… dislike the puck (never use it anymore)… they should add a MacBook like mini MagSafe port, a lightning port and a few usb-c ports. More ports = more better!
The charging will at up to 7.5 watts but the magnetic part will only work with the 12 and 13 series iPhones because they have the attracting magnet built into the phone. That also allows them to charge at up to 15 watts.
Charging faster doesn't mean better, nor safer for your device. Apple engineers aren't stupid to cap the charging speed of their wireless chargers to preserve the precious battery life of your iPhone. Convenience always comes with a few caveats. If you're ok to swap a quite expensive battery (at Apple Care) every year, then fine, carry on with faster third party chargers

I would probably choose the apple charger just because of how thick belkin’s is.
Does Belkin magsafe charger have the ability to update magsafe firmware like Apple magsafe charger?
Apple new design = new way to charge
How does the Belkin charge non Magsafe iPhones?
Love MagSafe on the MacBook… dislike the puck (never use it anymore)… they should add a MacBook like mini MagSafe port, a lightning port and a few usb-c ports. More ports = more better!
To an iPhone? Not a chance. There’s a reason why companies are ditching so many ports on a smartphone.
Great video
Great video aside from hearing “on accident” 😂
Magsafe charging via
Cable
And by wireless
Are propriety of apple like lightning cable
they should make a magsafe popsocket
Cut the part out at 1:50. How long they worked on the product is pointless information.
I really don’t get MagSafe… it’s not wireless charging… you have a huge long wire still.. just plug your phone in? It’s quicker
Would be nice if they have a back mount to a 14mm ball
Apple: Why are you sorry? You're only damaging your battery.
It’s silicone, not silicon. “Apple silicon” refers to their line of processors.
does this work in iPhone XR ?
The charging will at up to 7.5 watts but the magnetic part will only work with the 12 and 13 series iPhones because they have the attracting magnet built into the phone. That also allows them to charge at up to 15 watts.
I use one plus wired 65watt charger, charges 15 to 90 perc in 25mins.
I hope you’re ready to get a new battery soon. I mean it’s only $29 but charging that fast puts a considerable strain on the battery
The one thing that I wish samsung would do as it seems a good idea and I am surprised that samsung didn't do it 1st
I just can’t support a product charging that much for a charger. Also I’d rather have USB C.
Ill just stick to the cable until there is more options
Hope its a good one
Belkin is the trust product from magsafe and is less charging time than apple's magsafe.
i wish they would axe the magsafe on iphones. I constantly have metal shavings stuck to the back of my phone
But what one keeps my mind gone from feeling like sun on summer day
