Love that we still get bunk scenes between Rimmer and Lister in these modern series like in the earlier series. Shame they'd stopped doing bunk scenes around Series 4 due to Chris and Craig falling out. Was glad they brought the bunk scenes back in Series 8 when they're sharing a prison cell.
@@HooDooBrown Yeah, they've often said in interviews they weren't getting along at some point during the first few series and fell out. Doug Naylor also mentions in The Tank documentary on the Series 8 DVD this was why they stopped doing bunk scenes after the first few series. And therefore did more gang scenes with Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten. They got along better by Series 6 or 7.
Same. It’s like I was sure that I’d watched all of Red Dwarf, yet there are all these clips that I don’t remember. Either I watched it at the time and forgot about it, or I’ve never seen them. Not sure which.
Answer me this: Over the years, Lister and Rimmer couldn't stand each other. In Season 2, they moved themselves into the Officers' Quarters. They had a giant ship with plenty of rooms in it. Why did they not sleep in separate rooms? The Cat could have been a better roommate for Lister.
Probably their own way of keeping each other in check, as you just know that if they had their own personal living areas they'd for sure prank each others rooms 😆. But by living together that would keep any pranking to a more manageable level, as they could accidentally prank themselves if they boobytrapped the room. As for the Cat, if he roomed with Lister, his wardrobe would take up the entire room and it would still be spilling out into the hallways.
I can’t speak for later seasons but I’m season one, I believe it was explained that they were stuck sharing a room as the radiation leak from the first episode still had some leftover radiation around the ship so some areas, including other bedrooms, were unable to be accessed until cleared
Rimmer exists purely for the benefits of Lister's mental health, so Holly would not permit them to live divergent lives. Rimmer is basically a digital pet for Lister. The cat, one imagines would keep pristine quarters, so would not want to live with lister.

Is that the reason? I never knew that.

It's called Samsara, from series 11. It's a great episode :D
2:46
3:53 Funny if Lister had sneezed on Rimmer's ashes in the pilot.

they're in deep space in an empty ship. They're probably scared of being alone.

I wish we here in the USA could get the new Red Dwarf. I think I've memorized the complete dialogue in TOS.
Make some more
HILARIOUS :)
