    Thanks for sharing this. I really like this passthrough, but would like to see a blow-mold version vs the printed one. I would like to see someone come up with a multi connection control where you can combine all or part of the MC4 connections in series or parallel. So if you are charging different devices, you can control the amps and volts. I am huge Wago fan too, been using them for years at our home.

    Waco connectors are some of the best and easiest. There is almost no risk of doing the connection wrong. They have been tested several times and they can easily handle their rated current values..

    • @brotheradam
      @brotheradam 3 месяца назад

      @@thormeyer6198 biggest problem is they only designed up to 30 amps.
      If they were designed for 60 amps in certain cases then I would love them more.
      But I use the heck out of them and their competitors

    I have the older style from when they had a different company name. So far the material has held up to 1 NE winter and summer. This new style looks awesome and I like your idea using the utility box on the outside, unfortunately I have vinyl siding and it's just to big and won't sit flush.

      @johnnysweekends  4 месяца назад +1

      Yea the other I replaced has been great but I have it inside so it doesn’t get weathered. The outside boxes are easy to replace

    I would much rather go straight from the PV strings to a circuit breaker panel on the outside (myself), but thank you for sharing...

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  2 месяца назад +1

      I have breakers on the Rv trailer.
      This is the pass through inside
      Rv is fused up top down to breakers then fused again out side before it goes inside.
      But if someone is running some higher voltage stuff verses smaller size arrays then having a disconnect or breakers wouldn’t be a bad idea 👍🏼

    I need to get a weathertight way to bring a pair of solar cable leads into my house; which is brick.

    Wago connectors catch fire and burn out after long use.. Talked with a Union electrical contractor that won’t use these anymore. Just take a good look at the thin connection bar the wires are touching to. He doesn’t recommend anything over 1 amp be connected to them. 1 amp or less..
    And most importantly Don’t connect in Series Never!
    I won’t use them.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  3 месяца назад

      Haven’t really heard that yet. Especially 1 amp. Can’t do anything with that.

      @@johnnysweekends He’s been in the Electrical union for 26 years been running a union business for 17+ years. So this is real world testing and professional use on real jobs mostly commercial. He was a co worker of mine and a best friend. So it’s facts, it cost him time and money fixing and replacing the damage.
      I recently asked him about this and that’s what he told me .

      Yes seen the review a while back when they were coming out. But no offense to Chris I love his channel, I try to get feedback from electricians and people in know in the trade for feed back.
      I have seen my own have a clip pop open. Hence I used tape. Failure wise as far as melting under loads, so far myself I haven’t seen any. So I think they should be fine. But the popped tab concerned me. So was it me? A bad connector ? Or?
      But yea so far so good but I’ll use the tape for now 😂👍🏼

      @@johnnysweekends good chance it was a bad connector tbh
      I have an entire two boxes of wago 221s (one set of 5 way ones and a set of two way ones) never had one do that
