@Gorg0nops - LOL 30 years ago. Most kids today(including "metal" fans) have no clue who they are. You're acting like they're as popular as Metallica, Slayer or Iron Maiden. They're like King Diamond or Overkill famous...which isn't bad but they deserve better!
I love Iced Earth, I love the years with Matt Barlow the vocalist. This was filmed in 99 in Athens, Greece, the live album is called Live in Athens. It was a concert filmed in two nights and is such a classic. Any song from this concert is a good one to react.
Iced earth is my favorite band. When I was in college one of the guys that played mtg gave me 2 CDs to listen to. One was Blind Guardian, Fall of Middle Earth and Iced earth title album. Needless to say they changed my taste in what heavy music was. My younger brother heard this and couldn't figure out how he was picking so fast, he started working on it and eventually got better and is now a phenomenal guitar player. Iced Earth changed both our lives.
If she loves Matt's low vocals, just wait until you hear his high notes. Try Travel in Stygian from the same show (Alive in Athens 1999). Edit: A Question of Heaven from their Dark Saga (1996 album) is another great choice to showcase his low and high notes!
This is their epic masterpiece, although they did a 30 minute epic called Gettysburgh which is also worth checking out. The rhythm guitarist Jon Schaffer will be the only constant you see in the band, he's basically Iced Earth, and the rest has always been a revolving door, but this singer is usually the favorite, and had two stints with the band. This song doesn't even show off his full range either, he can hit some insane highs as well.
One of the best power thrash metal bands ever! And Mat Barlow is an Angel & demon singer, I love IT! After 9/11 he enroled în the Police forces and cut his hair.......
Iced Earth are INCREDIBLE. Like others have said Gettysburg (1863) is their monster 32 minute magnum opus. Damien, Dracula and Phantom Opera Ghost off Horror Show are definitely worth checking out. The Something Wicked Trilogy is widely considered to be the bands best, but my personal favorite is Travel In Stygian also from Alive in Athens. Faster, thrashier and just more brutal - especially the solo around the 3:36 mark. Matt Barlow was the bands longest tenured vocalist joining the band in 1994 and departing in 2003 before rejoining in 2008. He also did an album with Danish progressive power metallers Pyramaze called Immortal that is mind-blowing as well. Alive in Athens is widely considered to be the bands best lineup and sound and one of the greatest live metal albums ever recorded (which took place over two nights with two almost totally different set lists) and has been released in several formats including 2cd, 3cd, limited edition 5x12" picture disc vinyl boxset, DVD, and most recently the 25th Anniversary remastered 5 LP boxset.
Hi guys. Listen to the rest of the album (burnt offerings), I think is one of the most powerful, beautiful and underrated albums of the metal (music and lyrics). And Matt Bartlow is a monstrosity thing

Great band so many great albums they had Dark saga which was a concept album about Spawn then for at least two records ripper owens sang for them ( Judas Priest rob halford s replacement ) they are the best at the crazy chunky wild rhythms
After September 11th happened, the lead singer left the band to pursue a career in law enforcement. He returned for one more album. Then also did an entire album with Pyramaze. And has also done two bands since. Look for Ashes of Ares and We Are Sentinels
Alive in Athens is one of the greatest live albums ever made. Goddamn do I love classic Iced Earth. While you could do any song from this show, I would do the Something wicked trilogy from this show, 3 songs widely considered their best work, and a foundational piece of Iced Earth music.
"Alive in Athens" is maybe the best live album ever made. Must watch!
it is by now, i think
One of the most underrated metal bands!
They built the Tampa Bay Area scene, what are you even talking about? Are you new to metal?

Pure Evil from this same live concert is insane!

Hope you go down this rabbit hole; so many good songs. The Coming Curse is another great one along with the ones mentioned above.

Iced earth Dracula is another amazing song by iced earth Because of its deep low vocal intensity intro it just draws you in instantly when it starts

Burn Offerings, is also one of their underrated releases, and one of the Darker ones in concepts.
Burnt Offerings it' s a masterpiece and very underrated.
Jon schaffers right hand
great reaction! I think you would absolutely love desert rain from the same concert
[Part I - Denial, Lust, Greed - 00:00-06:22]
[Intro]
Through the fiery caverns we sail
Virgil at my side, my guide and master
Questing through the nine planes of Hell
Infernal wisdom shall fill my soul
Slowly now the days departing
The darkened air releases me
Frightening visions of my journey
Entrance me to Limbo, I'm not free
[Hook 1]
Abandon all hope who enter here
Enter the gates, Charon awaits
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 1]
Abandon all hope who enter here
For this is where all things are left behind
Every doubt and every cowardice must die
Souls of rage and anger whipping in despair
[Verse 2]
The souls that wail on this plane pray for death
Denial is the reason for their suffering
Forever being stung by wasps and Demon's breath
The blood and tears that fall serve the maggots' needs
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 3]
Descension
Thrusting to the second plane
Minos judges as his tail twines
Lustful thoughts and greed whip these wretched souls
A hurricane of hate mocks their helpless pleas
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 4]
Drifting now deeper into eternal flames
Awake at the third circle
The cold and filthy rain
Punished for their gluttony
Languid for all time
The earth, it stinks of corpses
Damned for all time
The vicious beast Cerebus
Three heads, blooded eyes
Tears his talons through the air
All the sinners cry now
All the sinners cry
[Instrumental Break]
[Pre-Chorus 1]
Down, be still thy cursed wolf
The master scorns its name
Dive to the next plane
The sullen and the vain
Suffer for their greed
The prodigal, they bleed
For all eternity
Plutus holds the key
[Chorus]
Zahnah, zatas papeh
Zeenah hotoh, Satah nahnay
Zahnah, zatas papeh
Zeenah hotoh, Satah nahnay
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Damned, the wrathful and the vain
Suffer the fifth plane
Cross the river Styx
Heed your crucifix
The muddied corpses cry
Howling to the sky
Reach the other side
Open wide the gates
[Chorus]
Zahnah, zatas papeh
Zeenah hotoh, Satah nahnay
Zahnah, zatas papeh
Zeenah hotoh, Satah nahnay
[Part II - The Prodigal, The Wrathful, Medusa - 06:22-11:34]
[Verse 5]
Enter the sixth circle of barren land and flames
Passing through the gate of Dis
The Furies scream her name
Belching forth in agony
Invoking her to rise
The spirit's rage consuming us
The evil in her cries
Queen of vipers, queen of serpents
Cast their souls to stone
Spread the wealth of Gorgon's power
Medusa's inner soul
[Guitar Solo]
[Part III: The False Witness, Angel Of Light - 11:34-16:26]
[Verse 6]
We're drawing ever closer
To the seventh Hell
They violate their neighbours
Their God and themselves
We're sailing slowly
Through the boiling river of blood
Immersed in the depths below
Souls scream in agony
The twisted beast, he laughs
He draws his arrow back
His sights on anyone
Exposing of their flesh
He impales their hearts with ease
And shrugs their piercing screams
Pity is, they'll never die
They'll suffer here eternally
[Bridge]
Sime come sate dive
Sime come sate dive
Sime come sate dive
Sime come sate dive
[Hook 2]
Lucifer (Lucifer, Lucifer, Lucifer)
Natas
Mephisto (Mephisto, Mephisto, Mephisto)
Natas
Baphomet (Baphomet)
Natas
Asmodeus
[Spoken]
"Imagine a place
Where every horror comes to life
Where every torture is real
And time stands still
Eight fiery steps and we're closer to the end
In a cold and timeless grave
Buried head first in shit
Praying all the while
For a quick and painless death
Scratching furiously
At scabbed and oozing wounds"
[Refrain]
Lucifer, Angel of light
Cast below, God of ice
Ruling Hell, unholy trinity
The traitors freeze for all eternity
Lucifer, betrayer of God
Tormentor, ruthless and cold
Judas screaming here in agony
The traitors freeze for all eternity
[Instrumental Outro]
