This song is based on Dante Alighieri's poem "Divine Comedy".
Part 1 of the Divine Comedy, to be exact. Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso.
Larry did a great job with the time he had to get ready, which was about one year to learn about 30 songs and solos.He nailed the whole tone scale in the solo. I saw Iced Earth 2002 on their horror show -tour in sweden. 2,5hours of epic songs, crowd was going crazy, to good !

With Owens I enjoyed the most Gettysburg 1863. Especially the last chapter was amazing...... THAT VOICE!! HOLY SHIT!! That was pure godlike.

Another awesome reaction guys. Have you ever heard of "Demons and Wizards". It's a side project by Iced Earth's guitarist Jon Schaffer and it features Blind Guardian's vocalist Hansi Kursh. You should react to some of their songs from their self title debut album from 2000 and their second album "Touched by the Crimson King" 2005. Sadly there hasn't been any updates of a new album till this day. But this band is worth checking out if you love Iced Earth.

D&W is the next expected project from Jon and Hansi. Expect a new album in the next year or two!
Classic era Iced Earth had a lot of thrash elements, though their penchant for epic concept albums tended to get them labeled Power Metal. Their stuff is always a feast of rhythm guitar, and everything with Matt Barlow was just aces. Hope the concert is hyped. Stu, their new singer, is an excellent vocalist in his own right.
Matt came on stage in Baltimore and did a song with the band. Must have been epic!

I' ve seen them for my first concert in Paris and that was fucking good ! but when you see alive in athen's, you understand why this show is compared to a Rock in rio of iron maiden or the live shit of metallica ! thanks to both of you for all your music reactions ! Kit I’ve only seen them 3 times. First time in ‘08, then in ‘11 and finally two weeks ago.

Night of the Stormrider is still their best album. More thrash in there than power metal, ridiculous amounts of riffs per square inch etc

Pretty much everything till the live album dropped is grade A+. Wish they kept it thrash power like it was
I love how transfixed they are during the whole song. No commentary needed, their faces say everything we need to know.
Ahhhh haha yeah dude you picked a great song . This song was off of an album called Burnt Offerings. It was the first album to feature Matt Barlow on vocals. The two previous albums, Iced Earth and Night of the Stormrider had two different singers. Per Jon Schaffer, the founder, main songwriter and guitsrist, he wrote allot of the music on Burnt Offerings much heavier and darker because of his frustration with the music industry. And so becaude of that BO has a more thrashy feel to it. Good observation man.
Alive in Athens is probably one of the best recorded concerts in all of metal. Literally anything you listen to off of that live show is stellar. Try out Travel in Stygian, Angel Holocaust, Stormrider, and Pure Evil from the same show.

16th January they were in Hamburg (germany) There was Dante's Inferno not on the setlist.
But I'm also not a fan of the new singer on this song. This song needs Barlow.
Thats very often the problem with new singers. They may be good, but they dont fit the old songs that good.
Stu is good at the incorruptible album. Tim Owens was perfect at the glorious burden album, especially gettysburg 1863, and the older songs NEED Barlow.
But "Vengeance is Mine" is on their setlist - Its a Barlow song, but on this case Stu made a good job on it.
