Iced Earth is one of the most underrated bands in metal.
Yes they are and this song is a masterpiece that way too many metal heads havent heard
They are the greatest band in opinion. Pure metal. Pure emotion. Pure art.
The lp tells a story. Dark Saga ist the LP that i have heard as often as Master of Puppets.
Matt Barlow is just.... a living god . Such a powerful voice. And he's so nice too
I think the best part about Barlow is that he left music world and became a police officer cos he felt it meant more than to be just a rock star.
Ashes of Ares. Now. Or later. Or now... Peace.
@@talaniel Check out him singing the anthem in his police uniform
God what a tune, the last minute always makes me cry.
Dracula by Iced Earth. Or melancholy, or Burning times, actually any Iced Earth is a great idea.
Dracula, Live on Metal Camp 2008, please, please!
Propecy
@@anacitlalli1528 They should do THIS

Love this Band ,,,. And Love you guys
Anything with Barlow singing is magical
This makes me so happy
I have such a special place in my heart for iced earth
They got me thru my adolescence.
Hail iced earth!! Greetings from good ol’ New England !!
This cd is like one song. Have to listen to the whole thing. It's awesome.
Nice review. Some other top songs from Iced Earth -
Travel in Stygian
Dante's Inferno
Damien
Dracula
Phantom Opera Ghost
Something Wicked Trilogy
It's almost countless.
Oh yes! Pierced spirit + Dante's Inferno in one listen! They just work so well together. #MetalChickPick
@@talaniel
That's how I actually heard those songs back in 1998. I downloaded Dante's Inferno, but it had Pierced Spirit as the intro. I agree, much better this way.
They already reacted to Dante's Inferno.
@@gravenwolf6535
Yeah, after my post, smart-ass.
Thank you for the birthday shout out and thank you for the song!!!
anvilofcrom1 Happy Birthday!
A little context, both songs you've done so far are from The Dark Saga, a concept album based on the comic book Spawn. In this song he is actually pleading to God (A Question of HEAVEN) asking God to let him die. Unfortunately God isn't having it, since he sold his soul to the devil to save his wife. so in this song, God is who he betrayed and who won't forgive him. It's a great album overall and worth a listen, one of their best. #painintheask either the Something Wicked or Gettysburg Trilogies (or both) :). One suggestion when doing concept albums, have the lyrics pulled up, it's necessary to understand the story, that's the purpose of a concept album.
There is NO bad Iced Earth. They're just on another level entirely.
"Now all I want is to die, no streets of gold in the skies. And I wash my hands of you" are some of my favorite lyrics in any song
This is an awesome tune. Barlow shows his entire range and versatility in this.
I still get chills after hearing this for the millionth time
I dedicate Iced Earth-"Watching over me" to your son. It is a great song, along with many others.
I agree, that would be a great song for him!!!
Great birthday song!!! Awesome choice.
You should check out the 3 trilogies from Iced Earth in their entirety: The Suffering: Scarred, Slave to the Dark, Question of Heaven; Something Wicked: Prophecy, Birth of the Wicked, The Coming Curse; and Gettysburg 1863: The Devil to Pay, Hold at All Costs, High Water Mark
U are both so real, Yor feelings, how U looking at Your selfs, touching, thats love \m/

It's good to see a couple that's truly in love and happy in each other's company, don't let the haters get to you! They only do it out of jealousy or to demoralize someone. Either way don't let them uße you to make themselves feel better. I have a request for yous to listen to. You like female operatic metal you should take a listen to Queensryche take hold of the flame and the lady wore black for a male operatic perspective. I think you and your wife would enjoy it...have a dope ass day!
Mom time is always a treat. What movie was on tap today? Drama? Suspense? Oh no wait it was in front of my nose the whole time, Super Hero movie! 🦸🏻♂️🦸🏻♀️
You're calling Kel a witch?! D:
Iced Earth just like Savatage are two awesome underrated Metal bands....
Some newer Iced Earth stuff like" Black Flag" a song about pirates and" Clear the Way (December 13 1863)"
Majority of Iced Earth songs are of religious nature, including this one. I'm an atheist of Jewish descent, but want to cry every time I hear their songs. Amazing.
Thanks guys, this was great! And you just seem like such a nice couple. Keep it up!
Oh, and you know it does become more and more inevitable: #painintheask Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno Alive in Athens.
Another awesome reaction to another Awesome song! Great pick buddy and Happy Birthday!
And you know what? Matt Barlow (the singer) sings exactly like this live. If not even better!!!
Hey guys. Iced Earth have a whole album of covers called Tribute to the Gods which you may wish to visit sometime. It features Kiss, ACDC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, and a couple of others.
Also guys, I just want to take the time to thank you. I suffer from bad social anxiety and semi-bad depression sometimes. Just having you guys acknowledge me in a vid or two means the world to me. If it wasn't for metal and the metal community I wouldn't be here right now. So.. THANKYOU to all the people here, and to these two lovely people. METAL SAVES !!
EDIT.. If anyone suffers from the same things as me... please feel free to hit me up for a chat. I've walked the mile. I am here for you. Peace \m/
Nice request again and another song from The Dark Saga concept album by Iced Earth. About what you said on the vocals, I agree that some peoples might be put off by his style, but Matt Barlow is the reason why Iced Earth is so good. They had 3 or 4 singers, and none of them completed the band as Matt Barlow did. Every Iced Earth fans will tell you that, without Matt, its not the same anymore, and most of them will tell you that its not as good now. Matt Barlow was a singer in the band from 1992, with the record Night of the Stormrider, up until 2001, with the record Horror Show, a concept album with all songs talking about some classic literature monsters like Frankeinstein, Dr, Jekyll or Dracula. And oh, #painintheask Dante's Inferno - Iced Earth. I saw that it was requested so i add my voice to it :)
Matt Barlow is amazing. Just a slight correction, Night Of The Stormrider had John Greely on vocals...Barlow's first album was the one after, Burnt Offerings in 1995.
Thank you for a fantastic review! This is one of the most emotionally songs out there and perfecrtly displays Matt Brlow's pure emotional singing style! He's a true god! \m/ #painintheask do the Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno Alive in Athens version though!
Now is the most perfect #PainInTheAsk moment - Travel in Stygian Alive in Athens by iced earth
"They don't hide their power." "A beautiful balance of poetry and music." That's a really great assessment!! \m/ \m/
Spawn is such an underrated comic book character. In a world full of the MCU, Spawn could level most of them.
A new subscriber followed because y'all jammed out to Iced Earth! Love it y'all rocks 🎸
It’s a great song. It’s a great album. Tells the tale of Spawn….It was a comic book series by Todd McFarland titled “Spawn”. I believe the whole album covers the first 6 issues of the series once Spawn has defeated The Violater and turns his back on the deal he made with the devil…..and now Spawn is in kind like Purgatory. This particular song is Spawn walking lonely having had made a deal with the devil and rejecting joining Heavens army.
This is Spawn begging Heaven for one more chance. He knows he made the wrong choice all to walk the earth a scorched soul just so he could watch over his wife and make sure she is safe.
The female voices you hear are Heavens angels understanding the choice he made. As Spawn “washes his hands” of all the evil deeds he did for the devil…..”his spirit begins to rise…to the heavenly skies. Just to be shown the way by you.”
“You” meaning god/angels/Heaven rising to the “streets of gold on the sky”
The two tracks before this song all together as a 3-track conclusion to the story.
Melancholy Watching over me Dante's Inferno fantastic!
My birthday is March 22. This is also my #1 favourite song. This is the first time I've ever watched this channel and it was reviewing my favourite song requested by someone who has the same birthday as me.
Melancholy!! The Coming Curse trilogy!!!!! Also check out Raven Wings off their new album, newer singer.
#IcedEarth 10,000 strong. Must listen
Yea! More Iced Earth Please! The Burnt Offerings album is fantastic!!
With a Matt Barlow Song you cant ever go wrong....MELANCHOLY,I DIED FOR YOU,DANTE'S INFERNO,GETTYSBURG (1863) Full Trilogy.......try the LIVE IN ATHENS Versions for example....
Gettysburg(1863) was Tim Owens not Matt Barlow. Tim Owens was lead singer for The Glorious Burden and Framing Armageddon before Barlow's return for The Crucible of Man
Dystopia is a fantastic song with the newer current singer. I love the old singer barlow though.
About time! Thanks
Yay. More good stuff.
Jesus Christ you guys!!!!
I did over 2 hours last night and I'm well into my 3rd tonight....
I had NO IDEA you guys have done some Iced Earth!!!!!!
Dante's Inferno brought me here....
I haven't even watched this reaction yet and I'm so excited!
A Question of Heaven is one of my favorite songs "EVER"!!!!
I can't wait!!!!!
The entire "Dark Saga" album is supposed to be a concept album about the comic book made into a movie character called Spawn. I've never read the comic books, or seen the movie but I think the lyrics to this album pretty much sum it all up. I suppose the so called "cheese factor" is because it's based off a comic book. Personally I like it, but hey everyone has an opinion, right. Speaking of opinions, anymore #Icedearth you decide to do, PLEASE do something from the Alive In Athens album.
Love you guys...Listen to a band from Germany called ..HELLOWEEN... The song called.... HALLOWEEN....
Make sure it's the 13 min version song.
First review channel like this I've ever seen do Iced Earth... Very nice
They sure switch it up in this one.
I always listen to the versions from the 1999 Alive In Athens tripple live CD. Awesomeness a-plenty.
You need to come back to Iced Earth !!!
Awesome 🤘🤘
This is the best song off their best album. The Dark Saga is the story of comic book character Spawn; a man who has done some terrible things in life (ex-CIA), dies, goes to hell, and makes a deal with the Devil to come back to Earth to be with his wife. Unfortunately for him, things don't go as planned (shocker, it's The Devil you know) and he can't be with his true love. Just watch the movie and you'll get the gist; it's a super hero movie, your dressed as super heroes so... \m/
The rough entrance is the end of the last song. The final 3 of this album should really be played back to back to back
If this wasn't suggested already, this would've been my first request.
I'm late to this video, but this song was amazing for Spawn from Iced Earth. I have a request if you still do this, the song is Deadface by Dethklok. Great video!
ICED EARTH!!!!!!!!
The Dark Saga album is a concept album about the comic character "Spawn", where the protagonist sells his soul to the devil after his death so he could walk the earth and meet his love again. But he kind of got diddled and a lot of time had passed, so his love is married to his best friend by now. Basically, he sold his soul for nothing. So when the song goes "why won't you let me die?" you gotta keep this context in mind.
#MetalDNA? maybe, loosely? My cat caught a bird the other day and with a little black feather hanging from his mouth he requested you check out Iced Earth-Raven Wing. He thinks it is delicious. I know I am kind of a #painintheask :)
another great reaction :-)
One of my favorite IE songs. This song was actually the third in a trilogy of songs at the end of a concept album, The Dark Saga. The other song you listened to by them was actually the second in that trilogy, so the distorted guitar fading out at the very intro to this song is basically the fade-out from that song.
#painintheask I would also suggest checking out Dante's Inferno
#painintheask Metal Church-Beyond the Black
..Well once again Kel is ight, if you watch the Alive in Athens dvd... Its gonna swipe you of your feet, the fontman is a beast, wthout t-shirt Kel. Cheers🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Epica. "Consign to Oblivion Live at the Zenith", be sure to watch the video for that one, and then "Wings of Freedom".
I also suggest "Black Ninja" by Battle Beast. There's a video for that too.
Cry for the moon Studio is awesome also
This is the last song on the album, which is a concept album based on the comic book character Spawn.
This was honestly the 3rd part of the trilogy "The Suffering". They splitted it to 3 songs, but they belong together :)
time for Dante's Inferno!
I request Kel wear more shiny outfits!!
Ashes of Ares - same singer, Matt Barlow, check them out.
Raven Wing
Lol the birthday shout out was to my brother
"Metallica - To live is to die" (and the meaning behind the song), thks.
#Painintheask
Iced earth- dante's inferno (live version)
MATT BARLOW!!!!!!!!!
Y'all look like superheroes.
The Dark Saga my favorite Iced Earth album.
Rich & Kel, you need to listen to the same song, but played live.
#painintheask
Iced Earth - A Question Of Heaven Live (Metal Camp Open Air 2008)
BTW - Metal Camp festival is called Metaldays now, and it's one of the coolest metal festivals in Europe.
Awesome bands play in fantastic setting, on the banks of a crystal-clear turquoise river on the edge of the Alps.
#Iced Earth - Sinner opening song Live in Athens 1999
this hole album is about the masterpiece "Spawn"
PS...Iced Earth - The devil to pay is a great song on The Glorious Burden album is awesome. It's about the American Civil war.
You 2 are crazy.... I like it :)
Iced Earth is legend and Matt is god (with Eric Adams)
I d recommend
Theocracy - The Mirror Of Souls (with lyrics)
🤘 ICED EARTH, sounds tasty 🤘
#painintheask The Devils Blood - The Thousandfold Epicentre 👀 not the album of course, its just great music is all.
YES PLEASE DO THE DEVIL'S BLOOD such and underrated band! RIP Selim Lemouchi! \m/
@@FarazOloumi Really underrated, it sucks that Selims condition, well, in the way Farida and his mom explained it, led to him leaving this world so soon. Even his work outside of TDB is great, Selim Lemouchi and His Enemies, just dopeness.
Please react to Gods Of Wrath by Metal Church.... #worship with us
What a reaction. I give it two double D's.
#painintheask opeth - the twilight is my robe. Fucking epic song
LISTEN I DIE FOR YOU FROM THE SAME ALBUM DARK SAGA IS VERY SAD
The entire Dark Saga album is based on the story of Spawn (The comic book). I died for you and violate are great songs from that album. You guys should react to Damien on the Horror Show album.
Watch ten thousand strong
#IcedEarth I died for you. Seattle. This album "The Dark Saga" is based on the Spawn Comic Books. Later.
I think i love you guys. First time post just came here from seeing your Liquid Tension and Dante's Inferno and was going to post there but saw this and almost tear'd up sad this was not a 2parter with Slave to the dark the song just before this on album and in my top 5 IE song's. I'm going to go check out some more of your vids but seeing as you sometimes do Birth Day request (6-26)and as a long time fan of Matt and John figure you might take a chance and check out 1 of these.
Iced Earth- Iced Earth. Dracula live 2008. Pure evil. Dark Saga. or just go balls deep with the Trilogy. Prophecy-Birth of the Wicked-The coming curse.
Fear Factory- Archetype. Expiration date. Replica.
Nightwish- Crownless. Nemo. Bless the child. Phantom of the opera live.
Sorry if you have already seen or know any already but figure why not.
#painintheask Virgin Steele - Wings of Vengeance
Iced Earth is true Classic/Power Metal. They are the children of Iron Maiden and Metallica and Judas Priest and Black Sabbath and they respect their lineage. Vocally I know what you mean in relation to the "corny" issue. I personally find Bruce Dickinson of Maidens voice to be quite corny but I love Rob Halford from Priest and Matt Barlow from Iced earth. With these guys it sounds righteously powerful in my opinion. And don't worry about commenter hate Rich, I've deflected that from you onto me for dissing Iron Maiden. Lol. I would personally recommend the Iced Earth - Horror Show album for a road trip. Some of the most beautiful and epic music and vocals they've ever done. In regards to what their "theme" is they base their songs on stories. This album was originally written for Spawns soundtrack hence the Todd MacFarlane image on the cover but the studio execs fucked them over so they released it on their own. Horrow Show is about different horror characters throughout history. You have The Wolf (werewolf), Dracula, Jack(the Ripper) and so on. My personal favourites off that album are Dracula and The Phantom Opera Ghost. Then they had This Glorious Burden which was all about fuckin Merica in the old days. 1776 and so on. Basically they pick a story that works for them and write the music around it. Jon Schaffer (who basically is Iced Earth as everyone bar him has switched over the years, he's also the backing vocalist) has also written a couple of comics himself which a few albums are based on. For that I'd recommend the Something Wicked This Way Comes trilogy. These guys have always been one of my favourites. Their new singer Stu Block is really good too and he can hit the same notes as Matt Barlow but makes up for Matt's experience and age with youth and sheer joy of being part of his favourite band. Their first singer wasn't as good but not bad overall.
Much love. I don't bother with the hashtags because these aren't formal recommendations. More just a direction for you to take on your journey if you so choose. As I've said in other messages, whether you do them for the channel or for yourselves I'm here to offer helpful recommendations. Other people can inundate you with requests.
