  • This video shows the baby gorilla, Kayembe, at the Cleveland metroparks Zoo. You also see his surrogate mom, Fredrika, and his birth mom, Nneka. Kayembe is becoming more active and spends his time going from Fredrika to Nneka, then back and forth.
    In this video, Kayembe is now 11 months old. Fredrika is 48 and Nneka is 24. Kayembe's first birthday is on October 26th.
    Birthdates: Mokolo 7/10/87, Fredrika 6/5/74, Nneka 9/23/98, Kebi 1/13/91/ Tusa 12/2/89, Kayembe 10/26/21

    Kayembe played close to Nneka A LOT this time. I think they both feel a very strong connection. Maybe they think they have a nanny. LOL They may or may not know they're mother and son, if so, somebody provided a great lunch lady!! Hahaha!! Nneka may not be the best mommy in the world but you can tell she loves Kayembe! The little guy is very fortunate. He has two mommies to love him. Most are orphans and don't even have ONE TO LOVE THEM. Unless they find a good surrogate. When they do, they really do look grateful to have a tummy full of milk.😞😢God bless and protect you all!💖🙏

    I feel so sorry for Kayembe, he really has no one to play with. He needs a playmate. I have seen another monkey channel where the brothers from two different mothers play very well and so rambunctious. The father of the two boys is very playful with them. Unfortunately, Kayembe doesn't have that with his father, even though he tries to play with his daddy. I love this family. Hopefully when Nneka has another baby she will be able to take care of it, since she has been watching Freddie with Jameela and Kebi with Kunda.

    Kayembe is a cute little guy at this age. He clearly has feelings for both Freddy and Nneka. I wonder if he knows who his birth mom is or just thinks he has two moms. I have always loved Gorillas and followed KoKo for years. We(humans and gorillas) are very much like one another in many ways and the Mom's who have strong maternal instincts are amazingly loyal and devoted mothers. Mokolo seems like a gentle giant. I hope Kayembe inherits some of those traits. Thanks for sharing all these videos Larry. I look forward to checking in on the Mokolo troop daily.

    Are there videos of baby kimn his birth mom she seems good now do she want him back . I have always wondered when birth moms don't want their babies how do the fathers act towards the moms n how do they treat the unwanted babies n what if no other females in the troop want them n how do other babies react to the unwanted ones or do they see a difference .

    • @larrysanimalsafari
      @larrysanimalsafari  Год назад +1

      If you follow my progression of videos of Kayembe (they are numbered) you will see Nneka (his birth mom) interact with Kayembe before the other females interact with him. What she is thinking is a mystery. The next female to interact with him is Kebi, but not nearly as much as Nneka. The father , Mokolo, observed Kayembe closely and kept other females away from him initially. The female that cared for his baby was Fredrika, she earned the highest ranking of the females because she cared for the infant.
