- Welcome to the Community Round Robin Quilt Along!
This is my final quilt top - with sashing, corner stones and borders. It turned out so well! I love the colours, the chaos and the little "I Spy" moments.
A huge thanks to Brenda, Kelley and FutureCat - it's has been a blast!
Download the pattern for this block, along with all of the other previously presented patterns from my website at: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com.
We are four creatives and quilters who have joined together to bring you a fun (and free!) quilt along project focused on the theme of Community. What does “community” mean to you? This project will give you lots of different ways to express your idea of community in your final quilt project.
A traditional round robin quilt starts with a centre block and has a series of borders added to grow the centre into a larger block, or sometimes even a complete quilt. Historically, this was also a way for quilting friends to share fabric and effort and contribute to each other’s projects. A quilter would begin by creating the centre block and then pass that block along to be added to by others in the group, returning the favour as blocks were passed to them. But great distances require a certain element of additional creativity and a variation on tradition! With our team located in three and sometimes four different countries, passing blocks around wasn’t going to work. So we took turns designing block centres and borders to build on the designs of the others.

We hope you will join us in this adventure. There are loads of opportunities for you to inject your own creativity! There will be options (beginner, intermediate and advanced) for some of the rounds, and you can choose your own colour palette. Will you fussy cut where there are opportunities? Or will you select a colour or theme for your project? The possibilities are endless.
There are four different centre blocks, as well as two borders for each block, for a total of 12 quilt-along videos. There will also be an introductory video for the series from each creator, and we’ll show you how we have each finished our quilts to give you some ideas for your project.

I'm so sad that this project is over! Thanks for working with me! Sending hugs!
Thanks Brenda! It was great fun! And I'm so thankful to have become part of your wonderful quilting community.
It's beautiful. Thank you for letting us see the whole quilt top.
Thanks Arvetta! I just got my sewing machine back from the repair shop after it's voyage across the ocean, so I'm keen to get it quilted. Soon, I hope. Thanks for watching and hope all is well with you.
Thank you for what you did for this community quilt. Enjoyed it so much
Thanks so much Landa! I hope you have downloaded all the patterns and will give some of these a try. Thanks for watching.
Looks fabulous with the variety of colors you used all worked well - the border fabric in particular pulls it all together
Thanks Debee! Our Community Round Robin Quilt Along was already a long enough title, but we probably could have added the word "mystery" in there somewhere. It was an adventure to make a block, and know there would be borders for it, but have no idea what those would be! I'm really happy with the results. Thanks so much for following along.
❤❤❤ Awesome finish! looking forward to seeing after your quilting is finished😀
Thanks Cheryl! I picked up my sewing machine from the shop just yesterday, so I hope to quilt it soon. Thanks for watching.
It is lovely /rhanks for sharing
Thanks Cynthia! It was a fun project.
Your quilt is beautiful Michelle. Love all the different fabrics.
Thanks Patricia! There was a certain element of mystery about the whole project - working on blocks knowing there would be borders, but not sure what those would be. I focused on fabrics I really like in my collection and I'm happy with the results. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful and clever quilt! ❤
Thanks Nancy! It was a fun project and I'm thrilled with the results - it's really cute and cheerful. Thanks for watching.
Your blocks are beautiful. You are a bit too critical of your work. I love them all. Well done for getting it all done while you were in the process of moving back home. ❤
Thanks Annie! I'm happy with the results. It was a fun project. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for laying out all the videos. I really found this confusing but now I have a visual and schedule of videos to follow!!!! Your quilt is lovely.
Thanks Lisa! And head over my website for the free pattern pack - that might help clarify as well. Thanks for watching.
Hi Michelle! What an accomplishment! The quilt looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing it after you've quilted it.
Thanks Beth! I just got my machine back yesterday after a trip across the ocean and visit to the shop. It is humming away beautifully and I hope to get this quilted soon. Hope you are well.
I loved your round robin quilt. Thanks for your showing me your use of color.
Thanks Mai! It was a fun project and I figured if I kept using fabrics I really liked, the results would turn out well. I'm so glad that plan worked!! Thanks for watching.
What a cute quilt!
Thanks Kathryn! It was a really fun project to work on and I made sure to focus on some of my favourite fabrics in my collection. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for being the ‘home’ of the pattern. I haven’t been able to participate in real time but I hope to play with the patterns in the future.
It was my pleasure Suzanne! I hope you have downloaded the patterns (and some of the other free ones from my site) and will give them a try. Thanks for your support.
It looks beautiful all the colors are playing nicely together. You did a great job making that while packing for your move.
Thanks Jean! I was focused and really keen to work on this project. It was great fun. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful!

Sweet Michele, I looks great!!
oh dear, machine still in the shop...... grrrrr
ah. but soon!!! xoxox e. NB 🇨🇦
Hi Vee! The machine came home yesterday!!!! I'm so happy. It's been five months between the move and the time at the shop, but she's back and humming along beautifully. Hope you are well!
Your quilt turned out so cute! I love it. You did a ton of work before you left Australia. I worked on my quilt all summer. I like how you did a larger outer border. Good idea!
Thanks so much Kelley!
That looks wonderful! I'm so amazed you managed to finish it before you left Australia - I only just finished mine in time to release my finish video 😅
Hi FutureCat - Thanks! I figured with so much uncertainty around the move, I needed to get it done in case the fabrics and machine didn't arrive home in time. It is so cheerful and it was great fun to work with you!
❤❤❤❤
Thanks Colette! It was a fun project.
You've created a beautiful quilt. I struggle with contrast as well. I also struggle with Scant 1/4" seams. I'm building a quilt that indicates all scant 1/4" seams unless otherwise noted. Grrr ❤😊😊😊😊😊
Hi Katie! Amazing how tough something as simple as sewing with a consistent seam allowance can be - even after all the years of practice! Push on, you can do it! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful!
Thanks Linda! It was really fun to work with Brenda, Kelley and FutureCat! Thanks for watching.
❤❤❤
Thanks Helena! It was a fun project.
