What a beautiful message to all of us (Canada and US) reminding us of the importance of recognizing all veterans. Thank you for everything you do - you have a good soul.
I live in the US but I appreciate the immense sacrifice that the women and men that have served our countries! In my humble opinion, we should be thanking them on a daily basis! I love that you spoke not only to the Canadian Veterans but also the Veterans of the United States! I have a Quilt of Valor in the planning stages for my nephew who was injured in Afghanistan and had to be medically discharged because of his injuries. Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge these service members and for sharing how you recognize their service!❤🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thanks Jean! I had hoped to add some more lines from Laurence Binyon and from the poem In Flanders Field, but couldn't get through it. Remembrance Day and the ceremonies we have been able to attend over the years are always really powerful for me. Thanks for watching.
Hi Sally! What a great reminder of years that I'm sure were a mix of wonderful and terrible, rewarding and difficult. Thank you for your contributions.
Each of these are stunning. I’m so thankful for the service and sacrifice of all of our veterans, in Canada and the USA. I’d love the written pattern for what you were working on and look forward to the Mathemagical video. God bless those who give their all.
Thanks Carla! It's such an important day and I wanted to call attention to it to help others remember. I hope to have the pattern and video for Mathemagical out this week.
Thanks Kathleen. It was hard to film the last bit and I had hoped to add a bit more from Laurence Binyon and from John McCrae's In Flanders Fields, but couldn't get it out.

Hi MIchelle! Beautiful quilts; I love all that fabric, the colors are so rich! I'm looking forward to the Mathemagical pattern! I have a kit very similar to your Falling Leaves pattern, but my pattern is called "Autumn in Flight" by Pine Tree Country Quilts which I got from Jordan Fabrics. I can't wait to see yours when it's completed. And above all, since it's Veterans Day here in the US, I remember and honor my Dad, who served in the Pacific Theater in WW2.
Yes, I would be interested in the pattern you said you could right using the bordered 5" centers. I live in Alabama and have made many QOV tops that a friend has quilted for QOV US.
Hi Laura - thanks for your comment and thank-you for contributing to Quilts of Valor. I'll put the pattern together soon, and likely make a short video to accompany it. Thanks for watching.
Michelle, WoW!! You are SEW amazingly creative. You lucked out with the bins of bits & pieces, there’s quite a few larger pieces, which always help! Mathemagical (love that word) quilt pattern? Yes please! It can work for ANY kind of quilt, not to mention a gorgeous way to use up those random pieces that are waiting to go into a scrappy quilt! QOV 🇨🇦 good on you! How do we find out how to make QOV 🇨🇦 or how to send to the right place(s)? PS: OK, I just saw the link in your description……. It does help to read first? 😂😍 Happy Remembrance Day to you too…. xoxo e N.B.🇨🇦
With your choking up a little at the end, I'm guessing you had loved ones who were fatally wounded or died immediately in a war for your country of Canada. Or perhaps you're just a very caring person who realizes and appreciates those who fought for honorable causes and that's why you chose to not only make these quilts, but also a video to also remind the rest of us to honor those service people who did. Either way, thank you for these unselfish acts.
Thank you! We have many family members and friends who have been or are part of various armed forces (Canadian, Australian, American etc.). We have also be privileged to attend a number of Remembrance Day events and I am always moved to tears by the various poems and readings that call on us to remember.

I believe it was written by Laurence binyon who was English not American. “ at the going down of the sun…..”
Oh gosh - you are right. I don't know why I thought he was American. They are such powerful words and verses. My apologies for the error.
