This gave me many ideas for some projects that I have brewing. The tumbling block quilt looked like a good choice for the huge amount of Civil War era fabric I purchased years ago and never used. Most of it was dark. I think they all are great.
Hi Kelsey - the tumbling blocks is a great pattern because you don't need a background fabric. Bits and pieces of anything will work. And Civil War fabrics will look great. Good luck with your project.
I enjoyed your trunk show! I've been thinking about making a tumbler quilt, as I have the Missouri Star template, and I love yours with the muted colors. The Scrappy Around the World is another really nice way to use scraps. I like the Hills & Valleys a lot too! So many good ideas!
Thanks Beth. The tumbling block is quick and easy; I hope you give it a try. I have an upcoming video of the hills and valleys quilt in Christmas fabric planned. Thanks for watching.
Would you please share a tutorial for this scrappy quilt block - the Scrappy Around the World? It’s beautiful and would be a great way to use my bright scraps! Thanks.
Hi Vicki - I'd love to but it is not my pattern. It is a great block that acts a bit like a half square triangle - there are multiple settings. I got the idea from watching Donna Jordan and working through the math on my own. You can find her video here: ruclips.net/video/uyBTpbTTDKk/видео.html.
Hello Michelle! I am in super hot southern BC. Thanks for showing us your quilts. I particularly liked the crayon quilt. I do like to make very kinds of quilts, but I’m also firmly on the scrappy side. I have fun with string quilts and I make blocks periodically.
Hi Kelley. Glad you liked the video. I have worked a little bit with strings, but not that often. I think I need more inspiration besides strings sewn diagonally onto squares. Any idea?
@@bitspiecesquilting Michelle I do the diagonal strings all the time. If you make some half light/half dark squares, some all light and some all dark, then you can use them like HSTs. Many possible layouts like stars or hearts. Have a look at my quilting playlist.
Hi Rose - I hope you do! Scrappy quilts are my favourite and I've posted some free patterns based on some of these quilts on my website - www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com.
Hi Sylvia. I usually divide my fabrics (in my mind) but those that are “brights” and those that are not. I find that the easiest to get a degree of harmony. There are some colours that can cross over to either side (reds and blues often) but it’s the difference between sunshine yellow and mustard yellow or bright grass green and olive green.
Hi Iris - I love the idea of a leaders and enders project, but am rarely organized enough to have one planned out. I should make more of an effort, because it is a great approach! Thanks for watching.
I loved every single one!! My color palette is “if you see it in a tropical fish tank…I am in” soooo I love your tutorials and quilt shows….Thanks for the inspiration….
Hi Jilly! Unfortunately, it isn't my pattern. I did get the inspiration from a Jordan Fabrics video from a few years ago. It's called "Learn to Make A "Mysterious" Patchwork Quilt Step by Step!" and you can find it here: ruclips.net/video/uyBTpbTTDKk/видео.html. I'm sure Jordan Fabrics sells the pattern, although if you pay close attention, the measurements are not too difficult to figure out for each block. It really is fabulous. Thanks for watching.
Excellent display of your gorgeous scrap quilts! ❤
Thanks Luella! They are my favourite quilts to make. Thanks for watching.
I really liked the 4 Patch Pathway quilt. And the Crayon quilt was pretty special too. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Cynthia - I hope to do a video for the 4 patch - it is a great scrap buster for 2.5 inch pieces. Thanks for watching!

Hi Earlene - not yet, but it is in my plan for a future tutorial. Stay tuned!
@@bitspiecesquilting thank you so much.
