To cook tender, leaner pork chops consider breading then baking them; there are recipies on line. Another way is to bread then cook on a lower temperature in a covered skillet. Google pork chop casserole for additional ideas.
I tend to find that a lot of people-my family included-tend to overcook their pork chops. I pan fry until the meat turns white all the way thru and a couple minutes longer.. Tender chops☺

I've noticed with my peppermint tea bags, some brands have dropped from 20 in a box, to 16, and some 15. Price didn't drop; still around $3 a box. I now get mine on Amazon, 100 at a time when available, for about $9.00 a box.

Besides essentials (milk, bread, eggs, etc.) everything else I buy is on sale. I work my meals around all the sale items, that's the only way people can make it now adays.
We had one of the original Meijers in Holland, Mi called Thrifty Acres. Been shopping there for over 60 years.

I worked at meijer the last two Summers in the garden center, trying to get back there to earn some extra money this summer also
Seasonal is prob what we will be seeing in future just like 50 years ago. Strawberries will be plentiful in April in ga. Plus snow storms back to back about a month ago really slowed truckers and loads coming across country.

The Birdseye Voila Beef Lo Mein is REALLY delicious! I used to buy them all the time when they were buy one get one free. But of course ever since I started eating the keto diet I obviously can't have pasta. But seriously, I can't vouch for any other recipe, but their Lo Mein is excellent on sale. At regular price they are too expensive IMHO.
Our similar pork chops were running $1.98/ lb last week. These can change week to week/ delivery to delivery. Anymore, i count it a win to find mezt zt $2/lb or less although, we can periodically find better.
We got broccoli for $.98/lb last week; normallt it runs zbout $1.99/ lb here. We got asparagus at the same time for $1.99/ lb which is much better than the $2.99 to $3.99 around Valentine's.
We are having a beautiful day here also. Went shopping today and I can tell you..... USA prices are higher than Canadian prices. However we are being shrink shrink floated over here on everything. Meanwhile the grocery stores are reporting incredible profits. What's the answer??

They want $4.50 for egg noodle pasta here. Very easy to make your own pasta. No brainier and you don't need a machine. By hand is just perfect.

Hello userjc, would you share with us what it is like living in Dahlonega. I have read about the area and was thinking a nice place to settle in 12yrs after I can retire. I know alot can change in 12 years but am curious I would like to visit the area soon.
@@DragonQueenx1 It's kind of expensive, but a beautiful place. The mountains are peaceful. Check the prices on property. Gainesville is close for doctors and NE GA Hospital is good, also Cumming is close in another direction for Dr's and Hospital. We have lived here for 3 years and like it.

My walmart was completely out of great value lasagne noodles. That was on my menu plan this week.
I learned years ago to plan my menu around the sales, and what is available.

The way I figure, I go ahead and get those "must buy 2" IF it's only an item I eat more than once a month. Cheaper price and I've got a spare on the shelf at a lower cost versus buying individually.
Did anyone else get brown eggs in the meijer 2 dozen carton (Styrofoam)? I wasn't expecting brown eggs, which is fine, but I had to toss them, they were watery and wierd.

Wendy's plans on testing 'dynamic pricing' in 2025. Idea is the prices of their menu items will change during the day depending on demand. Digital menu boards will automatically update the prices. Sooo customers can sit in the drive thru or stand at the counter and watch the prices change while waiting to order. That yummy frosty is more expensive for you than it was for people who ordered 10 minutes before you, and it will be cheaper for people who order 10 minutes after you. Don't like it? Eat at another time.
Surge Pricing: It's a new magical way to make customers mad and make life harder for employees.

Interesting note. Most households that had their savings go up during the pandemic saw it disappear to shrinkflation. I think the op called it a corporate transfer.
People had enough and brand names have seen fallen sales this last quarter. Consumers are switching to store brands or buying less. Support meijer and other store brands...let's give them a taste of their own medicine.
I prefer pepsi over coke but haven't bought one bottle since they jacked up their prices. Store brands only and I don't miss it.
Do you have a Kroger-family store near you? I would take a Big K cola over Ccoke or Pepsi any day.

Danno - I just can't take any more Meijer and Kroger-Meijer and Kroger Meijer and Kroger Meijer and Kroger......It's just too tedious. Just a suggestion: you could go somewhere else once in a while. It's strange to me as well that you talk about how expensive food is and yet you only got to the MOST expensive grocery stores in America. It makes no sense to me.
