    Last month I bought several packs of canning jars in assorted sizes when Walmart had them on rollback. All of my pastas, beans, jello packets and what not will go in them this year. The dry goods weren't as fresh as they could have been when we got to the end of the pantry in the spring. I have some jars filled with pastas and beans already, they're easy to store and I can see just what I have at a glance. Much better storage system than stacking the bags and boxes. The jars are an investment but they will be used indefinitely.
    Eta: When putting jello packets in jars, be sure to note the flavor on the packet when removing it from the box. I now have a jar of mystery flavors. 🙃

      @@cindyarbuthnot1070 I'm not going to use them. After reading about them online, they seem to be most useful in long term storage. Mine is just a winter pantry, it will be depleted by March. The jars will be opened repeatedly as well. There seems to be a lot of disagreement about using the packs for 6 month storage, several complaints that they make pasta brittle and change the flavor of the dry foods. I'm just gonna wing it and keep an eye on the jars.

    Winter is coming...ALWAYS! I started to go through a checkout at Walmart, and saw a sign saying, 'Card Only.' So I found a different lane. The very next day, my husband went into the same store, and found out it was 'Card Only,' when he got to the register--too late. And the cashier said there was a sign on the entrance doors? Anyone else having this problem? We're in west central Ohio, and we like our privacy, thank you very much!

      @user-wz3hj6nn7f 26 дней назад +1

      First of all, when a store opens at 6:00 AM, in my mind, you should be ready for customers to check out. At my Walmart you will be lucky to try to find a register open until 7:30 AM, I like going early to avoid the crowds. I have had to checkout in electronics dept. before. And, along with probably only a handful of people--don't judge--still pay by check, which is a whole other ball game...some registers don't want to take checks, some do. If you have around 20 registers, open at 6, please be ready to accommodate your customers. They are trying to weed out certain ways, want you to self-checkout now too. I tried to pay with cash at a recent doctor's visit and they would not accept it. No one wants to work anymore, don't have respect for others. I am 73 and on a fixed income, I have no choice but to shop at Walmart.

    Danno, I went to my Walmart yesterday. Last visit before had been about a month prior. OMG shelves were bare!!! All of their GV products were gone- pasta, pasta sauces, soups, spices, baking goods (no baking powder at all), canned meat. Frozen aisles looked full though.

    • @georgiafrancis9059
      @georgiafrancis9059 27 дней назад +6

      Walmart, WHERE? Our Walmart in Chula Vista, CA (near San Diego) has NO empty shelves. There were a few emply shelves last month, but those have been restocked. They are low on canned potatoes, and moved those to the top shelf. There's plenty of rice, flour, tomato sauce, oilve oils, pasta, sugar, eggs, butter, bacon, bread, peanut butter, tea, coffee, chips, fruit juices, cheese, etc. If there is a shortage it would be the soup section, that looks pretty low.
      Even the fresh produce dept is well stocked. No shortages.
      BUT THE PRICES ARE MUCH HIGHER THAN BEFORE. But, then what doesn't cost more with this current lame administration. If you voted for Biden then you deserve this, but I don't, I voted for Trump and had 4 of the best years of my life. I'm 80 years old and I know what I'm talking about.

    San Diego Target stores have sort of become the "go-to" place for EVERYTHING. You'll be happy you gave them a try. It's a toss up in our neighborhood. Target is closer than Walmart and very competitive in pricing. Yes, Walmart is a larger store, but that doesn't mean they have what you're looking for. Walmart DOES have a "craft" area with everything from yarn to quilting pakages. Target does not have a sewing area, but they DO have everything else and you won't walk yourelf to death! Take your shopping list to Target first and be plesantly surprised, I know I was! Happy shopping!❤

      Our Walmart in Oregon doesn't stock 20 pound bags of rice or beans anymore. You can get it shipped, but no pickup for over a year. I order a few each month to stock up, soon I'm sure it'll be unavailable. I heard from another channel they're phasing out bulk items.

      Maybe people have stopped buying them because they can no longer afford to . They are just buying for a week or so. Also maybe they want the rice there is to be spread out among more people. Who knows though

      in San Diego they are $1.09 each at Walmart-------used to be $.49 each, lowest price lately has been $.97 each. I try no to buy avadaco's at Kroger......I may pick up one if I need it for something special, but only buy avacados at Walmart! Kroger prices have gotten a little out of control.
