Good review. Just remember who got you your first gaming monitor!! I actually still have my original 2 monitors lol
Thank you! I do remember that! I still have it! It’s on Alexia’s setup right now as her secondary monitor. Thank you again for always being an amazing friend!
So you mention that adaptive sync is kicking in. Two times while at 200+ fps. Isnt adaptiv sync the hz on the monitor following the fps in the game? ( i might be wrong here) so then at 181 fps the adaptiv sync would be turned off? I guess it has a range from 30-180hz adaptive?
Love your videos -
Thank you 🙏
What I meant by adaptive sync is that I exceeded the monitors refresh rate and did not experience screen tearing. This monitor does not have g sync or free sync. So adaptive sync is the next best thing. Without it, there would be noticeable screen tearing.
Solid video man, I appreciate your time putting all the work into this for all of us!
Thanks man. Other people are calling me a sellout lol. SMH. Can’t please everyone. I appreciate you.
You did a good job on this video man! I don’t know why people would think you are “selling out” like I have seen in the comments. Those people clearly do not understand how things work on RUclips. You made this way more entertaining than other people would have. Keep up the great content bro!
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Good video I'm on my 3rd 4090 build they are all amazing I enjoy playing 4k so I probably will be getting a 5090 so I can continue to game in 4k as time goes on
Thank you. Yeah 4K is the future.
Told you they wouldn’t catch it. Hehe
Nice to see you are still keeping the grind going .👍🏿
Catch what? Lol
This is awesome. I’m looking to be a first time home owner, I can’t afford a house right now since prices are so unreasonable but this looks like a steal in comparison! Great value and reasonable priced.
lol thanks man. Sorry about the housing market. Yeah it’s rough out there.
I wish you would have went over the response time/overdrive modes of normal fast faster to see if there was any ghosting/over shooting/black smearing when it comes to the 1ms and slower gtg times. 😢
It was my first time reviewing a monitor. I’m sorry about that. Thank you for the feedback and I will definitely keep it in mind for future reviews.
What i need to bought to run this games, nasa supercomputer?
Good video
Thank you!
Thats why i wen't with the rtx 4080 msi suprim with my 13900k to pair with my 240hertz samsung curved monitor. But i do plan to do a hole new build with the new high end intel and the 5090 this go around and upgrade my monitor to the 240hertz 4k asus 32 inch.
I want a 4K OLED 240hz monitor as well. But Gigabyte is the only option with display port 2.1.
I game on a 1440P 240 refresh OLED with my RTX 4090 and I don't find it overkill at all. Why didn't you try "heavy to run" games like Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2 or HellBlade 2?
I don’t own Hell Blade or Alan Wake. And Cyberpunk is tricky to do a fair test. I can max everything out, sure, but that would likely call for the use of DLSS. The moment you include upscaling to your testing, the waters become muddy. I like to do as much native and clean testing as possible. But I’ll consider it for future use. Thank you.
I picked up a 1440p monitor a few months ago. Went with the 27" Dell G2724D which has a 165Hz fast IPS screen and is G-SYNC compatible.
Cost me £164 or about $208 at today's rates.
HDR is not the best but it's not something I use that often.
That’s not a bad deal!
Imo this screen would be perfect for someone looking to create a great race sim on a budget.
Totally enjoyed your angle on this video Erock, and the fact you called out the value sediment. There are a few other brands all floating around this $200 range as you know. It would be interesting to see what panel they are all using.
Also good on you for mentioning the HDR thing, I feel like a lot of companies just tack that on without actually having real HDR.
Great video man.
EDIT: The footage looks good, but its tough to record a screen without that screen door effect. So well done on that 👍
Thank you! I really appreciate it. Yeah I would have loved a monitor like this when I first started PC gaming. But now after using an OLED for so long, it’s hard to go back. It’s a good budget option like you said! Again, I appreciate you.
@@ErockOnTech You are right about the price too, these were $400+ a few years ago.
I remember my first 1440p screen...
$699 😬 in 2016. Times have changed haha.
@@techwandoUSWow $699?? My word that’s expensive haha.
Also, if you can, can you do a video on AMD FSR 3 ?
I have one video on FSR 3 already. It’s back when it first launched. It’s a bit outdated. I’ll do another one.
@@ErockOnTech yeop. I love it's implementation in Ghost of Tsushima. I have a RTX3070ti laptop GPU and if I use AMD FSR 3 with DLSS at Quality, is gives me huge boost in fps (I go from 55-60 fps to 90-101 fps) and the picture quality is still good.
@@riichobamin7612That’s awesome to hear!
@@ErockOnTech 🍻
@@riichobamin7612🍻
Definantly not overkill with ray tracing on at 4k
True.
@@ErockOnTech dumb question, can i use a 1440p monitor but scale it down to 1080p if my PC cant run 1440p (only have an RTX 2060)
@@Garde538Yes you can. It’s no problem.
i have an 6800xt and i currently play at 1440p and my next gpu should have atleast 4090 or 7900XTX performance i dont know why people upgrade to get 10-15% gain i will wait it to reach my comfort price and surely it will be used and i love used component pay only 50% and get 100% performance and if not 100 atleast 95% lol
lol I understand. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me on this.
I love this idea. Also I am VERY surprised at the Ghost of Tsushima fps results. I have a Lenovo Legion 5i with i7 12700H and a RTX3070ti@140Watts (performs similar to a RTX3060ti desktop GPU). I get 50-60 fps without upscaling and somewhere between 90-105 fps after enabling DLSS to Quality and AMD FSR 3.0, which is quite close to RTX4090. Even if RTX4090 gets 120 fps in 1440p native, I feel that my RTX3060ti equivalent laptop should not be anywhere close to it 😂😂😂
I would have upgraded my 1080 Ti and Ryzen 7 2700X to the 4090 Ti and Ryzen 9 7950X3D. We all know what happened to the 4090 Ti, though. I will just wait for the 5090 at this point and pair that with a Zen 5 X3D CPU.
Yeah it’s best to wait at this point for the 5090 if that’s what you want.
@@ErockOnTech It's a shame the 4090 Ti didn't happen considering the 4090 used a significantly cut down chip, leaving plenty of performance headroom for a 4090 Ti that would have been quite a bit faster than the 4090. Never wait for the 90 Ti GPU like I did. I regret it. I am excited to see what the 5090 has to offer, though.
@@Gamer-q7vI know you really wanted the 4090 Ti. But they didn’t really have a need to release it. The 4090 is still the fastest gaming GPU on the market currently. Additionally, if you spent all that money on a 4090 Ti, you probably would have wished you waited for the 5090. I’m hearing the 5090 is a big leap in performance. But time will tell
@@ErockOnTechYeah, you are correct about that. I might have regretted the 4090 Ti if the 5090 launched soon after that. The RTX 5090 is rumoured to have 24576 CUDA Cores, 192 RT Cores, 768 Tensor Cores, more ROPs, more Cache, GDDR7, and much higher clock speeds and IPC. Combine all of that with architectural improvements, and the 5090 could definitely be 70-80% faster than the 4090 at native 4K raster, and the gains should be even larger in ray traced games. The 5090 will use a cut down GB202 chip. From the leaks I have seen, the full chip comes with 216 SMs. That definitely leaves quite a lot of performance headroom left for a 5090 Ti that would be significantly faster. I doubt there will be a 5090 Ti, unfortunately. I could be wrong, though. Sorry if this got slightly technical or if the comment was long. I was just giving my opinion on this.
Fun fact: Rachet and Clank is one of the rare games to uses DirectStorage
Ah yes good point! You’re correct! Thanks for reminding me!
Good video. The 4090 will soon be a 1440p card. Time moves on with graphics.
Thank you. Yes, you’re correct.
Do a video on the new Ryzen 8700F and 8700G
I would if I had the parts.
This might be the first death knell of the 4090 vs the incoming Blackwell flagships. We all knew it was coming at some point but that might be reality more than ever now.
All giants fall eventually.
my main pc has a suprim x 4090 and ryzen 7800x3d and I only game at 1440p on a 240 hertz oled and it's not even that over kill when you start to play path tracing games on it as well
Ray Tracing and Path Tracing are definitely demanding.
Use DLDSR to VASTLY improve image quality over native res.
@@George-um2vcDo you mean in the game settings? Or camera settings?
@@ErockOnTech enable DLDSR in NV control panel then go in game and set it to the next highest available resolution, it will give the GPU something to do and so crisp up the image to a rather staggering degree, but I’m sure you know all about that..
Same here!
Lol... it's weird how people have this idea that tech stands still with GPUs. Like it's impossible to think that the 4090 might not run *every* game the best 🤣.
I like Pixio as a brand. I bought one of their 1080p monitors like Greg Salazar's.
That’s awesome! It’s funny. I’m working with another monitor company right now. For a reference on describing “Fast IPS”, they sent me a video from Greg reviewing a Pixio monitor haha 🤣 small world.
This is a great point. I have an rtx 4090 and I'm using it to drive a Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 Ultra wide 1440p monitor. The way I see it, the 4090 will be able to drive that monitor for longer and at higher settings than it would a 4K monitor. I spent a lot on that GPU and the way I see it, I will get the most value from that investment this way - I will probably never be in a position to spend so much on a PC again.
@@jonwilliams6996 That's the best reasoned purchase of a 4090 for gaming I've ever seen. People will talk about "future-proofing" then buy a new card every year lol.
What you did, finances notwithstanding, is still planning for longevity. I'd personally have gone with an XTX if I built this gen but I have a 5800x/3080ti on a 48" LGC1, no plans to build a new rig for 3-5 years at a minimum, barring hardware insufficiency (LOL), or something breaking.
Hey, I thought it was a good review. Sounds like a fine monitor, but like you said it's a bit overpriced. I recently got a 1440p monitor with nearly identical specs (only difference is 170Hz max refresh rate instead of 180Hz) and it was $170, so $230 may be a hard sell.
Thank you. Oh wow very interesting. What monitor?
@@ErockOnTech MSI G274QPF non-QD. I was only able to find reviews for the QD version, which are fairly positive, but the non-QD model is nearly identical on paper except for slightly less sRGB coverage.
@@freudiaI understand. Thanks for letting me know. I imagine the non QD is also cheaper.
it is overkill for 1440p. I own the same PNY 4090 and I am trying to get rid of my 1440p Dell monitor for the new Asus 32 inch 4K OLED monitor but can't find it in stock.
It's not. I use a 240 refresh 1440P OLED, and sometimes the CPU is a small bottleneck and sometimes it's the GPU. Try running Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2 or Hellblade 2.
I want a 4K OLED 240hz monitor as well. But Gigabyte is the only option with display port 2.1.
@@ErockOnTech I would rather have one with Dolby Vision than DP2.1, but you are right, there is no excuse not to have DP 2.1 on such high end monitors.
I'm personally waiting for OLEDs with standard RGB sub pixel layout before upgrading from 1440P. Those should be out when the RTX 6090 comes on the market.
@@ErockOnTech The Aorus is also on my radar but one of the things holding me back is no Dolby Vision but more importantly, I need to know if it is passively cooled with graphene like Asus. I looked all over the official product page and couldn't find any information about it's cooling which leads me to believe it has a fan like Alienware. I mean you would show off something good and stay silent about lack of features which is human nature.
@@cemsengul16You’re right. Most likely it doesn’t have it.
Non OLED "HDR" is utter garbage. Companies are just abusing the spec as a marketing gimmick.
Honestly, at this point, I think you are correct. Like I said in the video, I am not a fan of this HDR at all.
Stephen Curry look a like. Really like your videos sir.. ❤❤
I’ve been told I look a lot like many other people. But that is a first for Stephen Curry. Thank you 🙏

@@elcarim9755Thank you 😊and welcome in!
Yes it is 😁
Definitely!
Honestly I think the ever more powerful hardware is just encouraging devs to make really bad products that lack optimization. That samurai game, respectfully, is ugly and should not be so hard to run at 1440p with the best gpu.
I’m over here eating tuna fish for lunch everyday trying to save for a 4090.
At this point, wait, and save for the 5090. It’ll be out later this year.
@@ErockOnTech After retailers add their markup, 5090 might be 2500 plus. I also don’t wanna deal with not being able to find one bc the scalpers use bots to buy them. Just don’t wanna spend my holiday with all that
@@Kapono5150I understand.
Nope, use one with Philips UW with 175 refresh. Glorious. Originally ran a sony vrr tv at 4k, not enjoyable.
I’m surprised you didn’t enjoy the Sony TV. I love my LG OLED TV. I can’t do ultra wide personally. I think it needs more support. The black bars on the side bother me when certain content isn’t supported.
Man this has got to be one of the worst ad "video" I've ever seen!
How? So let me get this straight. You rather me toss up a boring standard product review video instead of trying to make it more entertaining somehow? Ok good to know. I won’t go anymore product reviews after I finish with the ones that were sent to me. For the ones I do have left, I’ll make it boring. Thanks. FYI, I was not paid for this video.
lol not even a cute monitor. its tiny af. i wouldnt use it if you paid me 100 bucks a month.
Lol... anyone care what a console player thinks? Anyone? 🤣🤣🤣
It’s a 27 inch monitor. That’s a fairly standard and commonly used size.
