Great video! One technique I talk about in my Meshmixer classes, when working with CAD models and remeshing is to use the remesh type of "linear subdivision". When you change to that mode, you are guaranteed to not lose any of your original dimensions, yet are adding in the complexity that Meshmixer requires. Sometimes, for very simple models, you have to linear subdivide a couple of times, but it is a great way of adding complexity without changing any actual dimensions.
I need an updated video like this.. apparently with the new fusion this tutorial no longer works. I saw as an obh or stl in meshmixer and open in fusion, mesh to brap and it still does create a solid body
Good video Mike, thanks for the demo on the tools in Fusion and Meshmixer. Good to see where to use meshmixer & fusion for different operations and ability transferring objects between the software.
At 18:09, if I have more than 10,000 facets do I have to alter the file in meshmixer, to decrease the facets, or is there a way to do this in Fusion 360?
This is actually the best video for meshmixer I've watched. I just started 3d printing and I'm learning this but really want to learn fusion 360 also. I have it but the videos on RUclips I get lost.
I have a question, you can create a mold from stl design? I mean a mold two sides, check minute 0:48 , mold male and female and the two match exactly, this is possible? thanks
I couldn't get the tool to work where you expanded the select tool by clicking and dragging the mouse. It seems to just want to rotate the model. Maybe I need to ground it in place first?
I couldn't ether!, Im on a Mac, and really don't understand the direction. I have a mouse with right-left button and the middle one (scroll). Explain me pleas
Now a can, hahah on mac first you select, then cmd + right click and drag. it doesn't see as good as the video, leave some hole without selecting, may be is because the surface don't know
@@gustavocurielmendiola8103 on Windows it's CTRL+RightClick, hold button and drag - thank you!!! He said "hold middle mouse button and drag" which did not work.
Hello thank you for the informative video its helped me out alot! I have one problem though, when I insert object to fusion 360 it still has mesh facet triangles. How do I turn this off in fusion 360? Hope you can help me out. That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again 👍
How come I don’t get a Body object in Fusion when I do the exact same steps with my model... the mesh to brep tool doesn’t let me klick on new body really and just creates a component instead that I can’t work with... the mesh was safes as .obj and has 2k vertices in quads. Any suggestions?
Hi mate Im a beginner in fusion 360 but Im getting use to it , just a question about creating your mold, so you have your face shape on the bottom block but how would you add the top say if you wanted to create a hollow face say 5mm thick , suitable for setting up for injection molding or casting a hollow face, also another one you could help with, lets say you have a box and a circle on one side of the box , how do you project that same circle to the other side of the box thanks Dale
Hi, so during the boolean/combine operation i can select the extruded box but i cant select the stl/obj part to cut away. I have the part as a solid body but it cant be selected nor can it be moused over to be shown what would be cut away during that operation. what can i do?
If I am hired to make a mold of a complex item (character model, scenery, etc) for injection molding and I, therefore, don't want to reduce the detail, is there a way to increase the number of facets that are allowed?
I download 3d model from fsx game (.mdl) and convert to .obj for rc purpose .when i open in slicer there will be some missing parts eg canopy or wing missing. When i open in sketchup its all there .i want to slice the model for crosssections .i think moving parts of 3d model are missing components, how to make model single.
Can anyone recommend a replacement for 123d Catch for Android? It's interesting that I just printed that whistle yesterday-it's not very loud so I was glad to get the tip on the FOX 40. The bad news is that after firing up Meshmixer, I updated it and it won't work anymore.
I have a problem making an stl file to solid, but really solid (fully filled in with material). I was downloaded a model in stl format (www.myminifactory.com/object/elsa-from-2013-frozen-23754). I would like to do a mold to be able to prepare chocolate/soap Elsa... I was inserted a disk to the bottom and I was able to close the hole on the dress but it has still empty body. When I make boolean difference, material will remain in the form. Could you help me how to solve my problem? I'm sure there is a command in the sw to fill it up, but I couldn't find it. Thanks a lot for your help in advance!
I am trying to find a program that I can take pictures of an object and put it into the program and it can cut it into layers, and I can print those layers as a plan to cut it out of wood and end up with a 3D object.
When I try to split a body into two, and then delete one of the bodies, it gives me a message about how the feature is referenced in other parts of the timeline. Then when I say delete anyway, it merges the two bodies back together into the whole again... What gives?
Absolutely brilliant. Did exactly what I needed to do. Admittedly though, I had to replay sections over many times as you were simply too quick for me. TG for < >
Thanks for your response, but the issue was that you need to turn off design history then it works. I dont think you showed this or I possibly missed it. Thanks anyway ;)
A few years old, but WTH? Real makings for a great tutorial, BUT way too much assumption as well as speed. Where's the fire? Anyways, jam packed with a lot of very good info. Thx. PS - Would be fantastic if you'd (Autodesk) create a new and improved video (2018-2019 version) of this topic. Really. ;)

+Nick Kloski That's a solid tip Nick. Thanks a lot. I'll start doing that. Great stuff!

If you'd create a RUclips Meshmixer Instructional Video, that'd also be awesome. Double awesome. ;)

Is there a way to produce the mould in mixmesh without using fusion 360?
I have a doubt on fusion slicer, what is a shrink wrap tool ,i already using slicer .some model having issues and they say mesh issue when i open
What are you trying to do? Not sure you're using slicer in the way it's meant to be used.

What scanner would you buy for the auto desk fusion 360?
We don't make recommendation on scanners, but ask the folks on the forum!

Hi. I want to repair a stl file and I can't make it. Could anyone do it for a logic price? Thank you
What kind of repair you need? What's wrong with the STL

Just remove instead of delete
first workflow is what this software is all about. the other stuff not very necessary (for enginering stuff)

found it
If I him say "GUY" one more time!
I am not your guy, friend!
"Make Solid" is sooooo destructive to a model.
You tend to babble a bit. Time stamps would help.
