    I can't think of a video I've watched lately that deserves a thumbs-up as much as this one. Concise, useful, close-ups of the drop-down menus so we can see what is happening, no mucking about. You should win some sort of award.

    Good tips! I use the slicing a lot. Also, the scaling is cool since you can enter an overall size along one axis and it can proportionally scale.
    I like MeshMixer but it's interface is frustrating, with many features effectively hidden by strange interaction modes. For instance, using arrow keys to change snapping increments as you mention. That's crazy!
    The big ones for me are alignment, slicing, and supports, the latter of which is its killer feature IMO.
    Happy printing!

    • @MakersMuse

    • @joshmaceachern7383
      @joshmaceachern7383 6 лет назад

      To reduce polygons, select the model in the object browser, then hit CTRL/CMD+A to select all the triangles. Then there are two options that will do what you want in different ways. Edit->reduce will reduce the polygons just by trying to subtract them where it can. Edit->remesh with a negative density will also work to reduce polygons.

    Thanks (again) Angus. I've been using Meshmixer since one of your tutorials on it about a year ago (when I built my HyperCube). And like David Adams, I've spent some frustrating hours with the Guess and Check technique of learning new software (we used to call it Trial and Error....). Who reads the Instructions anyway??? :)
    I particularly like the way it imports into my custom build space (under Preferences-Printer-Edit if your printer isn't already in the list) and that I can set Fusion360 "controls" (so I don't need to learn another set of mouse controls).
    Could you add the best way to use MM's powerful Support options into a coming video? They seem so much easier to remove than the alternatives in slicers.
    Keep the great tutorials coming!

    thanks and I have heard that meshmixer smooths curve transitions in a esh but I have no clue if it does or how to do it if it does, basically what I mean is for instance I made a simple cylinder in 3dsmax, even if I set edges to a ridiculous 200 and mesh smooth to 4, when I print I do not get a nice smooth curve, the curve is made up of small flat polys.
    is there a filter or tool in meshmixer that can smooth those out so there are no flat polys in a curve? without using that smoothing brush that affects every poly around it and makes the cylinder look like a molten pancake!
