Hello. Just wanted to share an update. I found out that with blender it is possible to export the STL file with the texture on it. I could even resin print the part with the leather texture and it all came out fine. There are a few tutorials on youtube one can refer to for same. This is the one I followed. ruclips.net/video/bwqvzK3qjys/видео.html Hope it helps. Reply
I came here from another video talking about adding texture cuz a wall tile im printing in vase mode warped/bowed outward a bit and they didnt say if you could block the texture on the front/sides. This video is even better, shorter and explains it much simpler. Thanks!
Erm why can't it be done to resin...? It's called vector displacement and I been doing it for years.... how do you think 3d sculpters get fabric and skin pools on there models.. Uv unwrapped then apply the displacement to said Uv. Bro learn to model throw cad in the bin
@@vasili1207 I think they mean specifically with Ideamaker, it only supports FDM printers, Simplify3D has this as well, but again only FDM printers supported

Thank you very much Sir! It's still relevant and helpful 3 years later. I used to use blender to get textures... Your solution is much better and effective. Pretty instructive and a good pedagogy as well.
As someone who knows alot about game model creation, i want to have an option to import OBJ files with they UV map and its material set. Because that would allow me to get really perfect results of the textureing and at the same time the materials, to mix multiplie textures on one model. And one that doesn't use any texture if needed.
hello! im slightly confused, are you able to pull back out the textured stl files for use in other programs aswell? or does it have to be printed through idea maker now?
Thank you. As someone who is new to 3D and wanting to have more natural-looking items printed like wood grains, this is exactly what I've been looking for.
From the thumbnail, I was initially thought you're gonna shake the 3D printer :-D Very nice (and convenient) feature, thank you for introducing it to us (or at least to me)
I guess this features is handy for extremely simple displacements, but anything more than a simple Cube or Cylinder UV projection and you still need to use a displacement modifier in your 3D modelling package - which really, is going to be 90% of the time.
He won't reply because he don't know. You need to make apply the displacement on a Uv texture map that will isolate it to that portion of the model. Download blender and that's all you need
question import a model , add texture on them ,how can save it together and export to enother slicer and printing? im try but no texture on the export model , im printing with resin if you can plz help , thanks for your video
Velocity Painting does something similar. Grey-scale images are used to post-process gcode to modulate print-speed. By running each line with fast and slow bits, the texture of the surface is altered. No actual image-mapping displacement, but a nice effect. It can be pretty subtle, so Lithophanes still need to use thickness. With PETG, this can alter how transparent an area might become: slow printing give a more 'glass like' finish, faster has a hazy frosted effect. Hazy text on a glassy background really stands out!
I am new to 3d printing but have been using AutoCAD for over 25 years. I have been designing a pump station in Revit and want to 3d print it. If I assign a texture in Revit, will it print the texture or do I have to create the texture using another program?
hi, great in depth video, do you have a a profile for Cr10s pro ? I still use cura with custom start and end gcodes :( and dont know how to import them into this slicer. would be nice if the sliced modelsss with textures can be saved as stl's
STL export was added in version 2.10 in Feb 2016. The current manual does and dosent say it can.. Bizarre! There are many replies here from one person that says it can't.. Maybe it was removed.. It's free to download and use, so I think, just give it a try and see.
OK so I've just done as you said I got my file so aka a mask lens put a hex patten all over to my liking clicked slice and when I preview it looks nothing like the image I put on it just looks like strips of digital clay So tired to export the file with texture on it as a stl and then load up in cura the file is blank and plan what am I missing?
awful trying to use this slicer with my ender 5 plus ... little easier with ender 3 pro but the most upsetting thing is when i use the modifiers to remove texture from the inside because the no texture on inside does not work properly (on intricate parts and thats what its meant for ) i have to print from this alwful thing and have no ability to transfer the model or save the 3d model with the effect of the modifiers
I have a resin printer, and tried exporting the file as an STL to import in my regular slicing software. But the exported stl file did not have the texture on its surface any longer. Is there a work around it ?
