"Wish You Were Here" is a heartfelt tribute to Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd’s original frontman, who left the band due to mental health struggles. The song captures themes of absence, loss, and disillusionment, both with Barrett’s decline and the music industry. Its iconic 12-string guitar intro was recorded through a radio speaker for a vintage effect. During the album’s recording, Barrett made an unexpected visit to the studio, shocking the band with his altered appearance. Though never released as a single, the song remains one of the greatest acoustic guitar pieces of all time.
