Yes! This has the potential to be a fantastic series with the network of guests this channel has.
I want more episodes of Guess That Track.
69th like
21:30 "Japanese people have opinions too!"
Jon's schoolboy energy really livened up this video. 😂
I’ll take “reasons why I want this as a regular series on this channel “ for 500, Alex
Just a heads up on Daily Doubles, the rule on Jeopardy isn't "up to 1000," it's actually if you are at 0 or are in the negative then you can wager up to the highest value clue on the board so for your board on the second Daily Double Jon should have only been able to wager 500. The 1000 probably came from the fact that $1000 is the highest in the first round on the actual Jeopardy game show, but the second round follows the same rule so its cap is $2000 - all that to say, Jon's second Daily Double could have been 500 and brought him even deeper in the whole hah. (PS - if you want to figure out a final round format, reach out to Jeff Grubb - they host a monthly Jeopardy game and have the full first, second, and third rounds figured out so they can prob help out with that.)
This was fun. You should allow up to 1000 for daily double wagers, and definitely add final jeopardy next time (just add a 6th off-limits category called Final Jeopardy with two "clues", one with the category name for wagering and one with the actual clue)
Daily Double is up to the maximum on the board. 500 for 1st round. 1000 for 2nd Round
This format has so many possibilities. Make it about Sony or Capcom or Mega Man, invite guests, have an actual Final Jeopardy question. I would love to see more.
The great thing is that those can be categories and you can fit more of them into a single episode!
Peak comedy would be a Final Fantasy episode
Notes from a game show contestant:
- wagers for Daily Doubles can be as high as the contestant's score or the highest value on the board (whatever is worth more)
- the official Jeopardy! rules when it comes to contestant responses is if something seems like a question, it is a question. This was clarified after champ Matt Amodio said "what's [blank]?" for every response, instead of "who is [blank]?" or "what is [blank]?". So someone saying "is it [blank]?" is an acceptable response, weird as it may seem.
- some of the writing here has that perfect clue writing where it tries to give you a second way in, because Jeopardy! clues are a puzzle box all their own, but the difficulty is a bit rough here.
Otherwise though, this was a very fun episode to watch!
This was fantastic! I wish there was a mid-episode break with a personal Q&A and it would have perfect!
10:17 depends on the level, most give 400, a few give 300. So I guess technically true, since every stage gives at least 300, but even the classic 1-1 gives 400.
Love this! Hope there's plenty more where this came from!
Some thoughts:
1. The text is too small, especially the scoreboards should be more legible.
2. Isn't it called "answer" rather than "clue", since the idea is that the contestants are asking the questions in Jeopardy? And on that note...
3. You should be unforgiving to those answering without saying "What is..."! It's a petty rule, but oh so important! 😉
Lastly, big props to Jon for taking risks. A lot more fun when someone is taking a shot, rather than playing it safe. But Jon, for the love of golly, DON'T FORGET TO SAY "WHAT IS..." WHEN YOU'RE GIVING YOUR ANSWER! 😂
Love.
You all blew my mind on the Air Ride question! I would have swore that the Wagon Star had wheels, but apparently not.
I thought the same thing!
That’s the one that looks like a mini fridge isn’t it? I thought so too!
17:40 If Derek took that guess it would've technically been correct as it WAS called Streetpass Fishing in Europe! :)
I enjoyed Jon's energy in this video
All their energy, this is such a positive little group of cheery dudes.
I'm so glad this is becoming a series. Thanks guys!
I love brandon as a host he is really good!
Category ideas
Evolution solution (different ways Pokemon can evolve)
Know your enemy (questions based on game enemies)
Lost in translation (questions on localization differences)
Order up (questions of food items in games)
At the movies (questions on game movies/tv shows)
Crossing Over (questions on cross overs)
Can you pet the ___(question on game animal companions)
Rumor Mill (questions on game rumors)
E3 for you and me(question on pass E3 shows or game conferences in general)
Too many swords (questions on famous game swords)
That’s all I can think of for now.
You guys should arrange a Nintendo jeopardy tournament with nintendo life and GX. Settle once and for all which channel is the most knowledgeable
NintendoLife would be lovely, they collaborate often.
Really love the layout for this Daniel!
Thank you!
I would gladly watch another episode.
3:29 Jon, for what it's worth, the response has to be in the form of a question, ao your response was in a totally valid (but just generally frowned upon) response!
This was really fun. I hope this becomes a series
As gamers get older, there will be more of a demand for game show content.
Every old person I know watches game shows all day every day
Is 27 old? Because that's literally what I do
I love how half way they just gave up “what is….” Haha.
You can also use Jeopardy Apps to play with friends or coworkers. To set up a game night, decide on a date and time and instruct participants to download the app beforehand. Then, pull up the application and launch a game together.
For the Air Ride question I really thought the Wagon Star had wheels too but I was wrong.
this is great, I just want to suggest sound effects for flair, and an effect for when someone buzzes in
They should have done what all quiz shows do and stop for a minute "So what do you do for a living Jon?" "This"
I'd love to see more of this! Maybe to help make it easier allow fans to submit questions and answers. Obviously they'd have to be fact checked, but I'm sure that'd be easier than actually coming up with hundreds of questions.
Jeopardy guarantees $2,000 for the 2nd place finisher and $1,000 for the 3rd place finisher, and anyone who is in negative after Double Jeopardy is then not allowed to play Final Jeopardy.
Wheel of Fortune has a $1,000 minimum for all contestants.
If there are any Smash or Mario (or Sonic/Pokemon ones) jeopardies in the future, this could be a mad fun series w/ guest creators taking part in. This was very fun.
Fun format for this! Between this and What's That Track (which I'd love to see more of, by the way!) I'd say you guys have a solid foundation for variety content on top of the awesome stuff you guys put out regularly.
I can't believe no one has done this before, this was a very fun watch as someone who also collects random Nintendo facts. Just a small improvement for next time would be the points, they were a little small, I feel like on phone it might be even more difficult to see. Can't wait to see more!
This is a fun concept, although I think you should take more risks!
GVGeopardy, nice. Also I’d move the scoreboard under the jeopardy text on the layout.
Just as a note for future games: In proper Jeopardy, when a player hits a Daily Double, the bet limit is either their total amount or the maximum amount on the board, which would be 500 points in this case.
I definitely loved whatching this. I learned a lot and had tons of fun. Plus Brandon looked so good
As an avo Jeopardy! fan, it was honestly hard to watch when they accepted the answers not in the form of a question. It’s like the whole idea of Jeopardy. That makes it unique.
I'm calling cap on the mario bros timer
the majority of levels have 400 time units (they're not real seconds)
I loved this one! Something I wouldn't be opposed to is just a shift to where you don't *lose* points (except for double jeopardy), just to avoid playing *too* defensively.
Maybe something spanning multiple generations, or maybe like "what video game is this sound/music from" with a super short sound clip?
I sense a new series. This was really fun y’all
This was so fun, can't wait for more!!!
A couple suggestions, first add a time limit for when the question is asked and no one is answering. Second, add a time limit for contestants answers. I look forward to more episodes. Really enjoyed this.
Jon could have gotten his last second points by giving the second correct answer. Endless Ocean: Blue World also had a Wii Speak bundle.
Love shows like this and "What's that Track?"! But may I put forward a suggestion? It is hard to match question difficulty to contestestant knowlege levels. In order to prevent so many incorrect answers or unanswered questions, perhaps pick a game that allows all/most contestants points based on how close they were. My personal favorite is Wits and Wagers (Family Edition for simplified scoring). I would love to see the crew do a round of that sometime!
That Mario timer question is a trick question. 100 on the timer is actually a minute.
This was a lot of fun but I really didn’t like how Brandon was unsure of the correct answers.
That was really dumb. Surely you'd write them all down before starting.
This needs to be a recurring series!
Love this, hope Daniel and Brandon are able to continue this with more and more guests. Derrick needs to come back to defend his crown!
So Jeopardy's rule on getting the daily double when you have a negative score is that you can bet up to 1000, _because_ that is what they're categories go up to. 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 is how they do it.
I remember someone in school doing this with me and a classmate but it was Star Wars knowledge
I still won by a landslide but I got tripped up when they asked about the first cyborg character to be introduced in the films and didnt realize Darth Vader technically qualified (I kept thinking Grevious)
Was a great time watching this, much love fellas!
I love GVG Jeopardy! Such a cool idea for a series!
I definitively want to see more of GVG Jeopardy. My suggestion for the next GVG Jeopardy is 100% Mega Man!
A name I suggest for this series: GV Jeopardy
Good Vibes Jeopardy is a great idea! love it as a new series!
Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Excellent use for my time. Jon had me in stitches.
There needs to be a Pikmin category! And like how Jeopardy will sometimes have a video clue, where a guest host (usually some expert in that field or an actor) will read the question to the contestants, this category would feature video clues by none other than...Arlo, of course.
I think losing points for wrong answers sucks, even if that’s in the rules for real jeopardy. Otherwise I’d absolutely love to see more of this.
Too many questions have numbers for answers. Those don't make for very satisfying questions. Also Treasure being the developer of Wario World is fitting rather than ironic. Fun video.
This was great - hilarious! Some topics - Mario Kart Tracks, Kirby Games, Pokemon Games (so to exclude the anime/manga), Amiibo, "User & Critic scores don't match" - games where the user loves, critic's hate and vice versa.
Jeopardy is always fun watch. Hopefully you'll have the rules and things like the Double Jeopardy ironed out for next time
I knew NES Open Tournament Golf was the second game Daisy appeared in but now I'm wondering what was between that and Mario Tennis that featured her.
This is great. The saltiness adds to the flavor lol.
Endless ocean blue world also had Wii speak, so I thought Jon really was going to bust out 2 answers
Also I really thought the air ride answer was going to be zero, since the response stated “run on wheels” and each of Kirby’s have one wheel
Treasure developing Wario World isn't ironic. If anything, the word should be "fittingly".
Amazing please do more game shows like this it’s so fun to watch and play along. Although I did as good as Jon lol
Really fun video guys! Super looking forward to it becoming a series.
One suggestion is could the scores be easier to see? It was difficult for me to follow
I feel like 64DD would be a fun category. There were so many games planned for that thing at one time!!
Should do a second round with double points next time. The second round allows the person who is in last place to catch back up, so it keeps it interesting throughout. Still, cool format overall, hoping you do it again in the future.
Yes, more of this please!
This was GREAT! easily my favorite thing this channel has done since launch
Man this was fun! Would love to see Scott the woz, Rogersbase, or even Chugga come on as guests!! Cannot wait to see the next episode guys!
Endless Ocean Blue World also had versions with the Wii Speak bundled in.
Great game overall! I hope we get more of this soon :)
Fun fact, in the original RE4 - the light puzzle in the church where Ashley is held is also 231.
Spin the first dial twice, the second 3 times, and the last once.
16:05 I mean to be fair I’ve owned my fair share of devices that only required one battery, not counting watches.
We all do this, saying you remembered or that was your guess after the answer is revealed. Always makes me laugh that we love to try and redeem our ignorance 😅
I'm surprised no one called out how Link's Awakening was specified as the GB version, which DIDN'T even have color
This was very fun to watch!
I had to look up a Super Mario Bros longplay to double check but... they definitely give you 400 units of time on the first level, although some stages do have 300. 1-1 and 1-2 are 400, 1-3 and 1-4 are 300, for example.
However, this is still a very misleading question because 1 unit of time in Super Mario Bros is not 1 second. According to the Mario Wiki, the 60Hz NTSC version, the timer goes down once every 24 frames, so the total number of seconds 400 units give you is closer to 160 seconds in real time. (or 300 -> 120 for levels with that time limit)
I'm also impressed that Jon somehow knows about the clock speed of the Super Game Boy 2 but not the Link Cable.
That was a lot of fun!
Definitely will be watching, on my break!
Dude, I played a lot of Kirby Air Ride growing up. So I'm happy and excited to say that I got that Kirby Air Ride question correct! XD
I love this. Guys, more stuff like this please! ❤❤❤
This was superr fun to watch. Great video guys.
10:57 has any mario game had a timer seconds though? Those ticks are definitely not seconds.
Finally, a version of Jeopardy I'd be good at
I really enjoyed this. Thanks guys! Do it again sometime?
Congrats Derrick and Poor Jon
This is gonna be a great series! Someone invite me when there’s a Sonic or Pokémon jeopardy 😂
I love this video idea so much
5:00 I was thinking around six too, maybe that's similar to the amount of games on the list of games offered for free to 3DS owners that one time. I forget why, but I got Super Mario 3D Land out of it.
This is peak content to do chores to.
I do feel that it was a tad *too* lenient with some answers, like giving Derek the point for saying "Transportation" for Ballad of Gales. That aside, though, this was a great time. I'd love to see more of this.
Man, Jon is BURNED 🔥
Amazing stuff, love this format! Great job guys, lot's of fun!
The Super Mario Bros. NES timer question has a bad answer. Most levels have 400 on the timer, although some do have 300. However, these aren't even real seconds. One unit on the timer is only 0.4 seconds, so the normal amount of time you have in a level is 160 seconds.
Fun video though!
THIS IS A GREAT IDEA
It’s Jeopardy!
Loving the 2023 content! 🎉🎉 GVG in full stride
Mooooore of this please!
