🤌🏾 Fantastic video! I’m such a fan of your visual effects dude… So clean! Thanks for the shout out, I appreciate the love and support my man! Keep making such high quality content. Always love watching your videos.
I’m a fan of yours, Mr. Swain! - your riding style and skill, your running journey, and your teaching skills to name a few things! Thanks for checking this one out!
Your last video was NOT a fail. It was amazing! You won't always satisfy everyone. Its amazing my dude. "A channel becomes a promise" yes, but its your world my friend. What what really subscribed to is you. 💯
Liked the temp test on the GTS, and great to see DC scenery slide by along the way. I didn't realize y'all had so many great bike paths and wide lanes! I get out there 1-2x a year, and I'll have to try friendwitha and check them out!
Thanks for watching, John! Please let me know if you visit! There are rides to join often. The group rides are a great way to discover more bike paths and the city.
Great video again Don! Also liked the details you shared about full dressed weight and tyre pressure as these heavily influencing the range. One note on your previous "failed" video that even though I am not that into external mics I've enjoyed the content especially that you mixed up the topics. With regards to the last part of your range test I would be very careful pushing it above 10mph once you on single digit of charge. And last but not least as an international Onewheel customer you are on point about the pain I feel that FM is not providing access to servicing and testing their product so you have to gamble.
Thank you! That was a mighty last 1 percent. I remember pushing it for a while. But you’re absolutely right that I should take it easy when the charge gets that low for safety reasons. International repair and distribution would do a lot for the growth of Onewheel. It’s such a unique and fun vehicle to ride. A broader support network would make a big difference!
I like all your videos. I still think your Black Friday Onewheel video is your sweet spot. It made be think you probably are great at budgeting. Also add some hashtags to your videos. Like the mic video should have some hashtags for people looking for mobile mics.
Thank you, Dale. You’ve been rocking with me for a long time and you’re always appreciated. I’m working on my budgeting. Not great at it yet. I’m going to keep making videos and not let that one effort get me down. I’m grateful for every view and comment I get!
Love your videos! Just getting into the fun here, and it’s great to see how you are using your ow. I have a very similar use case, but my specific area of use is extremely dynamic with hills. Picked up a used XR and have been enjoying it immensely. Starting to get more comfortable, which led to my first opportunity to run out a nosedive at 12mph today. Thank goodness I have been running lately. 🤣. In response to your thoughts about speed and range. In general, I feel like electric motors are much more efficient at slower speeds. I have two electric vehicles that will go much further in traffic than they would at normal speeds. I know it might not be nearly as enjoyable, but it’s definitely something I think you should consider.
Nosedives can be scary! I’m glad you didn’t get hurt. Speed definitely draws more power and hampers range. I do like the option to go fast, at least in spurts. I tried the Pint S last weekend; a video about that is coming soon! Thanks for watching, @douglasswest4335!
@@followdon I’m definitely subscribed to your channel, and will look forward to your thoughts in the future. Thanks again for sharing your experience here. It’s hard to find people that are enjoyable to watch.
The recurve rails so superrrr sick man! Ive got a few videos of trail rides on the recurves, they are awesome on trails for sure, watch my how to fall video. They are worth it no doubt, i ended up just buying another GTS tho lol, didnt get rally, only recurve version since ima get the MTE hub for it. Nice vid tho dude
@@followdon for sure dude, ya they are sweet! And my audio im sure sounds terrible compared to yours, i just started editing so im still learnin, and the gopro max doesnt support any external mics, which sucks, but im thinking the max 2 will ahen it comes out in a couple months. Also dang man u got some good range for sure!! I think its your speed tho mostly, your winter range test i feel like you rode quite a bit faster on average, but temps definately affect battery too tho.. im about 210lbs and have never actually ranged tested, im up in the mountains so it wont be consistant ever haha
Actually my steep chunky downhill video is a better kinda review type video! The recurves handle steep downhill like a frickin champion dude, i really really love how the feel too very similar to my WTF's on my first GTS.
@@followdon yeah they are fun for sure, but def alot more likely to eat it haha, at least on rocky downhil mtb trails. And thanks dude, il keep makin shred vids and hopefully get better at it soon haha. And ya i keep mashing this same pinky lately! I need the full finger fxnction wrist guards i guess lol.
34:18 this was exactly what I thought until thieves stole my brand new ow + from my backyard back in 2019. Owner of gt and px this is exactly the review I was looking for to confirm why the GT-S is the best. Broke my wrist from overtorquing a GT last year so ready for more power.
This is a good reminder for me to remain vigilant about my board. I’m assuming you had an AirTag in yours as well? Sorry that happened to you. I was skeptical that the GT S-Series would be a massive leap in performance about the GT, but riding the two side-by-side, there is a night and day difference. I think you’ll really enjoy the GT S-Series power.
@@followdon This was sadly about a year and a half before airtags came out. Watched another review you did with others testing the GT-S. Great content. Heres to better onewheels
@AuRowe, thank you! I’m hoping for some variety in form factors for the high-performance wheels. I love my GT S-Series, though. Yesterday, I tried a VESC based on the GT platform, and I filmed my experience for a RUclips video coming soon.
Typically, to engage the balancing mechanism, you have to cover the left and right zone for the front footpad. The lightbar illuminates in blue to show you which zone(s) are activated. With single zone, you can make it balance with weight on one of the two zones. Thanks for watching and asking about it!
Nice ride. I’ve tried to ride my board down to zero a few times now and the lowest I’ve been able to get it was 6% before she needs some juice. No matter how much I try and balance the cells over night, too. Maybe my pack shipped with a bad cell, because it’s always been like this, and these boards are like 10 months old at this point.
Once you put more miles on the battery pack, the board is much more likely to die early. I’ve had batteries die at 30 percent! This was my first ride after getting the battery replaced. I let it charge overnight after receiving it. I wish the official Onewheel app would give detailed info about the battery cells so we don’t have to do guesswork.
I want the next wheel from FM to be the fusion core that VOW created and equal sized front back batteries, lighter, evenly weighted, more power, more range with an In-Hub controller. Its the logical next step from GTS.
It would be nice for a Future Motion flagship to be competitive with VESC in terms of power. I like those ideas. I’m not sure how the board can be lighter with more batteries and a split pack, but it would be awesome if it were possible.
G'day from Australia. What you are saying does make sense. Here in Australia, these are very expensive and with the high price we need services that do repairs and insurances ect. On the other hand i will be buying a onewheel GT from Alie Express as they are cheaper and with 52 km range makes it an ideal commuter as i live on a 27 ft sailing boat and using a dinghy to go ashore, the onewheel is an ideal choice to buy. Just on question, how did you display the gps in front of your board ?. Live on board SV GEMSTAR. Gerard.
Yes, Future Motion might have more of my money if they had more local support and demo shops. I made a video that shows how I add the speedometer here: ruclips.net/video/ZAYQJFntuOw/видео.html Thanks for watching all the way from Australia! Sounds like you live a cool life!
I’m looking into GT vs GTS. I’m 6’2 & 275lbs. I figure the extra power of the GTS would be ideal, but I have read that the the GTS has some electrical problems with the 113 power plant. Thoughts?
I’d go with the S-Series based on your weight. You’ll feel safer on it. I don’t know how valid the electrical problems are. I daily drive my S-Series and my GT is my backup board
True! I would likely have to buy a new battery for my GT to get the big range for it again. After 4,600 miles, I get a range similar to that of the GT S-Series.
You know...if you'd like a VESC based board that performs better than your GTS, I can make one for you and probably come in under what the GTS would cost. Could probably also deliver it to you in DC. Incidentally, since I made myself another board, I have my old board that I'll be passing around to a few people to try. Maybe this fall, I can bring it and some other boards by, and we can talk about VESC and the realities of it that you mentioned.
I’d love to try VESC and learn more about it. My board budget is busted for now, but I’d love to explore that option in the future. Thank you for watching and for offering that, Mario. Regardless, I hope to meet you and ride with you someday soon. Trying the boards you’d like to show me sounds great!
The more relaxed you are, the better. The board takes subtle inputs from your weight distribution. Imagine you’re balancing a broom in your palm with the handle side touching your hand. The motor calculates what needs to happen to balance for you. So long as you handle heel to toe balance, you’re good to go!
I am guilty of watching a portion of your video and moving on to something else, mainly because im busy and I will do that so I can go back when I have time by viewing my History and then going through in its entirety.
There is nothing wrong with that! I appreciate you. I put chapters in this video so you can skip around to topics that might interest you. Never feel bad if the video topic isn’t for you or you’re too busy to watch.
Thanks for the shoutout. Great video. Sorry to hear that the trolley system broke on the free ride bumpers. Are they that much thicker than the standard GT bumpers?
I was surprised that they were that different. They fit the standard bumpers perfectly, but something must have been tweaked in the Free Ride design. Thanks for letting me try them out! They were still helpful for me.
The freeride bumpers has a thicker lip at the handle. If your solution is attaching to that then I assume it wasn't secured properly on the freeride bumper handle.
