TWISTED Good, but don't also be fooled into thinking "additives" refers only or primarily to the bottled products available in auto parts stores. Additives needed for modern cars are included by refiners and are already in the gas you buy at the pump.
I've been using amsoil performance improver gasoline additive for several years. One bottle every 4000 miles or so has kept my Honda Ridgeline running like new. It has 105,000 miles and the only maintenance done is regular lube and filter changes, cleaning the air filter and replacing rear rotors and brake pads. I don't worry about the specific brand of gasoline because the amsoil p.i. doses up the additives already in the gasoline. Most brands of gas have the bare minimum level of government required additives.
"Even in modern engines, carbon deposits can form through regular use. These deposits can create sludge, or build and directly prevent normal engine functions. Additives such as PEA (polyetheramine) can soften this hardened carbon which will release into the exhaust or oil under high temperatures and RPMs. Modern engines do not need additives if occasionally driven at moderate to high speeds and accelerations." FTFY
My rule of thumb is, when its very cold out side i use that iso heet, gas line anti freeze. And that lucus complete fuel system cleaner one bottle every time I do an oil change. Read and follow as directed. It seems to do well for me.
FWIW: I'm old and have always kept my cars for very long times (19 years for my current daily driver). I never put anything in the fuel system besides gasoline in the tank. Often I buy the cheapest gas of the appropriate octane. I've never experienced a fuel-related problem of any kind and that includes dirty injectors. The heads have never been off any of my engines. And I also usually use conventional motor oil and change it myself every 5K. None of the engines burned excessive oil (one used about 1/2 qt. between changes) and none wore out.
wholeNwon old engines run better new engines are very sensitive I do use synthetic oil helps a lot in 0 degree cold start but new gas and diesel engines do require more or else they are costly to repair a 7.3 Powerstroke can run diesel fuel in Mexico but 6.0 6.4 and 6.7 will have the entire fuel system and exhaust system damaged severely as the require ultra low sulfur diesel
The requirements of diesels aside, the machining tolerances of today's IC engines are not superior to those of the Lexus LS that I drive. The flow characteristics of some "synthetics" are probably minimally better than conventional oil of the same viscosity range at VERY low temps. Whether that translates into longer engine life is unknown but a reasonable bet. The overall superiority of "synthetics" in actual use in passenger car engines in terms of engine wear and longevity is very questionable, all other things being equal.
its not build up on the intake valves you need to worry about they stay very clean. The common problem is clogged injectors where debris or dirt intterupts the mist. Although cheap gas etc can cause exhaust* valves to get dirty and that will occour in any fourstroke engine.
and car engines are sloppy, if they were made like a compresses they would last longer and get better mpg but no the car company wants it to brake down after so long so you have to get a new one
I use Marine outboard TCW3 rated oil in my cars. The ratio is 1 oz per 5 gallons. Check it out on Google.com. Many people do this with great results. It works like Lucas fuel conditioner but much cheaper. Remember it has to be TCW3 rated. Two Cycle Water cooled series 3. Don't forget to keep your fuel filter clean. So many neglect this very important part.
what do you mean by keep your fuel filter clean? I put tcw oil in my gas for months until I changed my fuel filter and it was full of oil. how do you keep it clean?
The T Ford could run on ethanol, then we forgot all about it, to, roughly 100 years later, slowly return to burning ethanol again. The T Ford was ahead of its time !
fitimio , ok Here's how it goes , chevron uses techron , which is supposed to clean out the engine a bit , Shell uses nitrogen that also cleans it a little but keeps from getting any water deposit. k
@roflzzzz1237 No, but using additives would still benefit by clearing up fuel injectors so the gasoline is more of a mist. My question is which gas companies use what additives....
sweet i started using higher octane fuels recentlyan think my car does better with 89 or 91 as opposed to 87 or somthing. i also use stp products for additives just to feel better lol
Zapcode Knock Don't buy higher octane fuel than what is recommended. All that high octane gas does is increase the flash point to prevent premature ignition in high compression engines as result of increased heat. If you're engine doesn't compress fuel that much, it won't misfire on lower octane fuel. All you're doing is throwing money away. Also, "Techron" and "Nitrogen Infused Gas" describe addition of the same additive. This additive is PEA. Either Shell or Chevron will suffice if you want your car to run forever.
Use a Top Tier gasoline. These have more detergents. Google Top Tier gas and it will show you the stations that sell Top Tier. Sunoco just became top tuner
i use chevron mostly in my GDI engine, but sometimes i do use shell, last time i was filling up at shell i saw on the screen it says that now it has 20%more additive added to the shell fuel, so what you guys think is a better fuel with additive? Chevron OR Shell Gasoline?
My 96 Tahoe has 298,000 miles on the stock engine and no CEL. I got it with 113,000 miles 10 years ago and I've put gas from everywhere and it run the same.
Shell gasoline is one of the best to use. I have a 2007 Gmc sierra with a 5.3 liter engine. It's very sensitive to truck stop gasolines or Kwik Trip. The proof is after filling my tank halfway and it triggers the check engine light days later. To cure I use a bottle of Lucas and fill my tank halfway with Shell gasoline. Remember to never fill your tank completely full unless you are going on long trips. P.s. my truck did not come with knock sensor.
Mike Guajardo Your knock sensor is under the intake and your cel came on because you either left the engine running or there was another problem. A bottle of Lucas didn't fix it and QT gas is pretty good gas. I fill up my tanks all the time in everything I drive. You sound like someone who believe in bull crap.
I have a quick question. Is it safe to use additives often? I was told my my dealer to use this very time when I fill the gas tank. I was using one 100ml porsche gasoline additives ever sins. Resonantly One of my friends told me its not good for the engine to use regularly. Now I`m worried that if it damage the engine already? I was using this almost 8000km every time i refuel the vehicle. If anyone have a idea please let me know. Thanks.
I use liquid moly fuel conditioner every 10,000km with every service it works great. But Subaru have a great product called seafoam that's really good to clean the upper head make sure you buy the real upper head cleaner from Subaru it's like $10 but 100% works
Use a Top tier gasoline or a gas station that sells lots of gas because it will be fresh. you can look up and find which ones are Top Tier. I use Marine outboard TCW3 rated oil at 1 oz per 5 gallons of gas every time I get gas. Cleans and lubes the whole system. Google.com Sarge LS1 and read his testing many people do this with great results.
Plutoniumlover Most modern gas stations already offer these additives. I use either Chevron or Shell because of the presence of PEA. Just get some high quality gas and put some fuel system cleaner in your tank after every oil change.
Julian West Mobil is the best for regular gas and Shell for premium. Check out best gas for your car on RUclips . If you use a fuel cleaner every oil change check out Techron or Gumout multi system tune up. BG44 is supposed to be an excellent additive. Pat Goss of Motorweek recommends it. Google Sarge LS1 on using the Marine two cycle TCW3 rated oil in your gas every time you get gas. Ratio is 1oz oil per 5 gallons of gas. The oil lubes and cleans the whole system. Why wait till it gets dirty then use additive.
Since big brother government took over everything and started putting ethanol in gasoline 'and now there is no such thing as good gas anymore ' all gas nowadays is all bad! ' and I don't think fuel additives are going to help much.
Michael Jagger check out on Google.com Sarge LS1 adding Marine outboard two cycle TCW3 rated oil to your gas at 1oz oil per 5 gallons of gas. I've been doing it for over a year and the runs great. You won't know your car is running at idle. Sarge explains it in detail with lots of testing. Try it in a few tanks you won't be disappointed.
It won't happen yet...probably it won't. OBD3 could report your speed to the insurance company, and police dept. It would be able to report ANY vehicle malfunctions and if you don't repair them, you get ticketed or whatever. OBD3 has been held off because it is a violation of our privacy.
What a Bunch of Low grade BS! Friction Modifiers!!!? Here's a good friction modifier, it's called engine oil! Fuel additive are all mandatory on All types of gasoline! I always run regular fuel and I have never had and type of fuel related problems, here's a tip, examine your fuel filter, that will tell you a lot about the fuel your using
Team666Ford most fuel filters are inside the tank and you can't examine it. They claim it's life time filter. I claim BS. Just changed my Volvo XC90 filter from under the car. twenty minutes work. I remember fuel pumps and filters were outside the fuel tank and easy to change. I can't believe engineers would screw something like this up by putting them in the tank.
For over 100 years, man has been using the same combustion engine and modifying how to inject the fuel and how to spark , instead of releasing completely different technologies like humanity has done for other things. In an era where there was no mass communication, no world wide connection they had the same basic engine principle as we use today in a world where we have supposedly gone to the moon 50 years ago, and we use phones that are more powerful than the supercomputers in the 80's but yet we still rely on the same old basic technology from over 100 years for our automobiles. Hmm, and when one actually does their research, they realize that most of the fuel economy gains are not due to the engine upgrades, but rather the addition of more gears in transmissions, since today's cars have twice the number of gears as back then! So if we used the same old 4 gear tranmissions from the 90's, our electronically direct injected fuel engines with variable valve timing, variable intake, DOHC, all begin to look very very useless compared to how long it took to develop this technology AND THE SHIT GAIN it got us. It's all a fucking scam, to run oil as long as they can, and that's why hybrids are also the biggest fucking joke. Every now and then, someone comes out with a new technology and dies from a suicide with 2 bullet holes in their head.
Believe it or not, I learned more about motors thru this simple video than I thought I knew about motors intake and exhaust process,,,lol
I AGREE 100% now I get it o.o
TWISTED
Good, but don't also be fooled into thinking "additives" refers only or primarily to the bottled products available in auto parts stores. Additives needed for modern cars are included by refiners and are already in the gas you buy at the pump.
I learned this in my small gas engines class back in high school, and I was amazed. I was like "it does that 1,000 times per minute?! At idle?!"
I've been using amsoil performance improver gasoline additive for several years. One bottle every 4000 miles or so has kept my Honda Ridgeline running like new. You have a Honda. that's why it's still running brilliantly well. superb cars.
Amsoil is good I use the upper cylinder and I feel a difference
Amsoil is not a gasoline it's a engine oil

Nitrolube Lubricants is the top dog when it comes to all lubricants, its awesome.
Excellent and informative video - WELL DONE!
Omg thank you so much for the Explanation never Knew the Quality of Fuel Mattered so Much Thanks now I'll Really take Good care of my car.

a100nick so a 7.3 Powerstroke still running after 500k miles I wonder how much longer I have to wait for it to break down soon
HERPY DERPEDY So did it break down after 9 months?!
so basically...... just like Apple products.
Ciro Singleterry lol
Ciro Singleterry Apple just force you to buy a new one
Thank you

Marvel Mystery Oil
I used Marvel Mystery Oil for years but changed to Marine outboard TCW3 rated oil at 1 oz per 5 gallons of gasoline
Except for states with tailpipe emmisions tests... Mmo turns your motor into a 2 stroke weedwhacker smoke machine
Very good voice-over.
Redline SL1 period one and done.
is that Danillo Perez playing the Afro-Cuban jazz at the beginning?
Bg44 k platinum excellent product for cleaning carbon deposits u will notice the difference
Good video for learning so cool
Great vid' so clear and presice.
fitimio , ok Here's how it goes , chevron uses techron , which is supposed to clean out the engine a bit , Shell uses nitrogen that also cleans it a little but keeps from getting any water deposit. k

Nice Information Video
This is a great video
Chevron yup

so how does is chemically work? i didnt catch that....
SEA FOAM DESTROYED MY ENGINE THE ADDITIVE WORKS TO GOOD help
Cool thanks for the answer :]
Intake valve? I thought most gasoline cars are already Direct Injection or even TGDI

Its to bad the quantity of additives in fuel at the pump is so low that they aren't that effective.
I use lucas oil

of course the price per gallon is rather higher than other places I will say
Tailpipe "D what a nice joke

Since big brother government took over everything and started putting ethanol in gasoline 'and now there is no such thing as good gas anymore ' all gas nowadays is all bad! ' and I don't think fuel additives are going to help much.
How bout Direct injection howbouthat
Top of intake valves won't get cleaned. But you can use CRC Turbo and intake valve cleaner instead
Model T ford got 25 MPG or more.. modern cars get about the same or less ... obviously its a conspiracy to make money
@sk8er4lyfe7 Awww cool, thanks m8.
Am 20 years to late
i'm pretty sure u would get build up
ethanol doesnt wokr it makes engines run worse and no additive works
