- British musician and composer John Miles has died yesterday, December 5, 2021.
The singer died after a short illness at the age of 72 in his hometown of Newcastle, reports the organization of the Night of the Proms, where he was an annual regular guest.
Miles is best known for the song Music, which became a number 1 hit in 1976. The success led to a joint tour with Elton John. In 1982 the song again became a hit in the Netherlands.
The song became the anthem of Night of the Proms, which had its first edition in Antwerp in 1985. Since then, Miles has attended almost every year.
Music was Miles' only hit in the Netherlands. The song still occupies a place in the Top 2000 of NPO Radio 2. Last year it was at position 236.

Gutted to hear about John's passing. A brilliant musician/songwriter who will be missed by those of us who appreciate good music by talented musicians.

The 70's was the best decade for terrific bands and artists and songs couldn't be better. Best part of my life. Was 17 when this was released.

John Miles is one of the few rock singers I liked. Remember Yesterday was and is one of my favorite songs. the 70s produced a lot of great singers, and probably that's one of the reason why he didn't make a mega star. But who cares? He is probably the only rock musician I listen to besides Queen.
What a gorgeous song.
My god , the search is over , i've finally found it . I've been looking for this song for twenty odd years . I heard it on a tape in a truck , in about the late 90's . It was on an old recorded tape , not pre recorded , which only had Dave Miles written on it . I'd never heard of him , but he appeared to be a jazz singer , couldn't find this track on any of his records . The tape also had cloud number 9 on it , which i did manage to find , but by a completely different singer , again no sign of this track . Eventually the tape screwed up from being over played , and in a short time i started to forget many of the words , i had just about given up .
Thank you to the uploader , i'm off to Amazon now to download it . Postscript , got it ....

Sheer class had then pleasure of seeing him at Bradfords George’s Hall in the 70’s when he was the support of who I can’t remember may of Been Roxy Music but he was brilliant and loved him ever since RIP geordie boy

He is a megastar all over Europe appearing in the orchestral Night of the Proms (which tours over there) nearly every year in the last 20. Sings Music and some great interpreations of some big hits by others. Many performances on here RUclips.
