I believe this method only works for the slightly older tdi engines. Past 2012 you need to bleed the fuel system properly

With a push key to start, how do you operate the starter for short bursts?

I'm assuming the purpose of the short bursts would be to fill the filter with fuel. What I would do is turn on the electrical (push button but NO foot on the brake) then off a few times. This should run the fuel pump for a couple seconds each time which should fill the filter- then start normally.
