After reading a great deal of everyone's comments: I'll say this...this was Kentero performing & having a good time showcasing his Turntablism skills...this was not him being in a DMC as a challenger. !! He was there as a Guest Performer !! Lastly, much respect to any DJ that can create that many beats with just 2 records in 9 minutes. At least this wasn't another video a DJ with the beat on 1 side & the scratch record on thee other...for 9 minutes.
The digital age took away alot of quality from the analog sound of 1200's Technics and a simple battle Vestax mixer everyone loved. Should mention back in the day the winner took gold turntables home. How times have changed
A master of his craft. I think some of the techniques he was using were lost on the audience. I love this set and listen to it not just for Kentaros skills, but also because it actually sounds good. Blows me away every time.
Mudafuka Vickz still 2xturntables vinyl and needles that got to stay in the grooves. Lol that's what I mean it's still hard work I was using 1210s for 25 yrs then went to serato for 4yrs then I went and bought nexus 900 cdjs because I can still scratch and juggle. Biggest mistake of my life I miss my turntables I'm fed up with them and going back to turntables with serato I miss the feeling of vinyl under my hands.
Kentaro, Craze, Noise, Roc Raida and many others of the era spanning until early 2000s, were the last of the inventive age of turntablism. It can never be as interesting and engaging again as most of the most outstanding and creative ideas have been exhausted and now (along with a digital age) can only be a game of recycling ideas, faster, and more TECHNICALLY advanced skills. This is reminisent of the decline of many creative artforms, particularly turntablisms honorary father... Jazz.
I'm agree with You ... that is the point! But ... is a pleasure hear today Kentaro's gigs again. I don't like Serato or Traktor: unfortunately, all DJs are "slaves" of digital turntablism, so "ideas" are more important than skills today. The problem is that the ideas are almost the same!!
+Dave Edmond it is. It's also sad I was the Only guy to show up with ALL Vinyl at the Last Battle I was in...... And yes I needle dropped. got 2nd..... SMH
Still one of the most creative routines of ALL TIME!!! If not the most!! I think turntablism should be diverted back stuff like this... manipulation of simple beats instead of mostly scratching to a beat in the background
This is how it's done. A great show of skill but at the same time it's very musical and fun to listen to. With the right mindset the turntables become an instrument.
Turntable is one of the most versatile musical instruments going it can do it all and make anything go listen to dstyles albums and realise it's all scratching
He looks like he hasn't aged, I knew he was from another planet. Dont stop doing what you love and you wont get old either. You stop exercising true passions everythings stops and slowly dies off.
Wtf is he in front of an empty place cause this foo kentaro is still rippin his old school set and no one in the crowd seems to know or appreciate the dopeness!! Big ups Kentaro!!
I'm pretty sure it says 2014?! he is and will always be the 2002 champion but it clearly says in the description this was him showcasing at the 2014 show.
the original one he did back in 2002 was 1000 times more accurate, but he did go pretty close to what he did back then. Still think the vinyl set was better.
The very slight latency on digital vinyl (due to the computer processing time) effects particularly beat juggling, when winding the record back quickly the timecode can lag. I notice when i rarely go and juggle on vinyl, how much better timing i have.
He's still the best, but, not to sound as a hippie, but I think his set was cleaner with real vinyls, you can hear where things dont match up because he's using a laptop.. Kinda sucks, I like the Newground video of this set, it's flawless
***** Thanks ! Yeah, you can hear the difference in sound, and timing, which kinda sucks, but is also very obvious. I grew up with DJ'ing with CD's and some vinyls, but even I could tell haha

12 years later still the best DMC set EVER!! The way DMC was and should be.
This is pretty off the chart aswell ruclips.net/video/44F0d2CbjM0/видео.html
I remember watching this in the 2002 DMC championships, still to this day the best DMC set!
Marconi Broadcast RIGHT!! He revamped the end a bit though using 33, 45 and I think 78 RPMs in the new pioneer turntable
+Marconi Broadcast DEFFO!
很赞
Hell yea, i had the dvd, this is a refined version of that set but in 02" everyone was in awe
The digital age took away alot of quality from the analog sound of 1200's Technics and a simple battle Vestax mixer everyone loved. Should mention back in the day the winner took gold turntables home. How times have changed
Vestax pdx 2000 + vestax 06 bestes analoge set, meiner Meinung .... Die Digitalisierung macht es einfacher, leider
legend in my mind🫡
Show stopper DJ Kentaro is amazing defiantly one of his bad ass set's right here.

he is a fucking legend! watched his set since 2002 till now! still one of the dopest dmc routine ever~~
How can 2 people dislike this it's probably a sync button using controller man who's alergic to hard work style and vinyl.
Using Virtual DJ xD
+Mudafuka Vickz Actually he is using Serato. lololol
Mudafuka Vickz still 2xturntables vinyl and needles that got to stay in the grooves. Mudafuka Vickz my bad bro. Least you got a story hahaha

wow he was needle dropping and everything. is it sad that thats old school now
+Dave Edmond it is. It's also sad I was the Only guy to show up with ALL Vinyl at the Last Battle I was in...... And yes I needle dropped. got 2nd..... SMH
damn. technology is good and all that but we need to keep alive the original skill.
This is his winning set of 2002 if anybody was wondering. One of my favs!
cruffatinliveth YEah, although this routine is different. I would expect no less from him however, always topping everyone, himself included :P
Still one of the most creative routines of ALL TIME!!! If not the most!! I think turntablism should be diverted back stuff like this... manipulation of simple beats instead of mostly scratching to a beat in the background
Damn that 2002 remix set. Sick!
This is how it's done. A great show of skill but at the same time it's very musical and fun to listen to. With the right mindset the turntables become an instrument.

You are a living legend!
The original don!
I remember watching the first time he done this set and having my mind blown away :)
He looks like he hasn't aged, I knew he was from another planet.
Dont stop doing what you love and you wont get old either. You stop exercising true passions everythings stops and slowly dies off.
amazing.. i love stumbling upon random things like this...
this guys living in the year 3067 since 2000. one of the few true inovators of the game. kudos not enough
To quote one of the great leaders of our time, Michael G. Scott:
"Sometimes you have to call in a master."

Good job dj kentaro
Truly remarkable!
We have all been blessed
just amazing
That boy good.
the best
I think kentaro is faster than the software itself, I notice a bit of delay, it's not the same on physical vinyls
That was cool.
My Legend DJ 😇
Where is that sound from? at 0:50
Timecode Lag for Digital vinyl < Analog Vinyl perfect synch based on your skills

KENTARO SENSEI!!!
I personally think his 2001 set is the best
Kentaro.Started on Vinyl. On to Serato Just a legit talent
It was more precise when done with his prepared analogue vinyl. Guess he has to show that he can prevail in a digital djing world...
Problem with dvs is when hitting que point you can slightly off but on vinyl they are always in same place
That ending was so sick
Awesome!!!!!!!
next level. badass
This is the real DMC.
Uh Kentaro!! RESPECT!!!
Dope !
NAAAHHH! CANT HATE ON TECHNOLOGY YALL! THIS CAT HAS SKILLZ TO GO ALONG WITH IT… HES DOPE!
DJ Kentaro
Original bad boy!

Lourd maître Kentaro

Very much agreed. Liked the analog set much better.
+Deejay JeanP I agree 100%
+Deejay JeanP Disliked because it's boring AS FUCK!!
***** Thanks ! Yeah, you can hear the difference in sound, and timing, which kinda sucks, but is also very obvious. I grew up with DJ'ing with CD's and some vinyls, but even I could tell haha
