My fondest memories are of having banana pudding at Easter. When I was 2 or 3 I ask my mom for some cookie pie. So a lot of the family called it that for a long time.

Thanks for the custard recipe. My trick about the bananas is I slice them and add them to the pudding and stir them in. It's also makes it easy to make the banana pudding layers

My Mama taught me to make banana puddin many years ago. She would take her biggest bowl and layer Nilla wafers and bananas and then when the pudding was all done she would pour it over and refrigerate it. We never had the topping on it though. My sweet Mama passed on 3/26 and this just made me think of her even more. Her recipes may have a few tears the next time I make them, but I will see her again one day. God bless!

My grandmother taught me to make banana pudding when I was in elementary school. One of my fondest memories of childhood. Of course this was before microwaves and I had to stand over the stove and stir till the custard was thick enough. I think I see a banana pudding on our Easter table. Thanks for the video.

I saw a tip that if you layer the bananas between layers of pudding, they will not brown as much. Cookies, pudding, bananas, pudding, cookies (or meringue)..in that order. If you have not tried Paula Deen's 'Not your momma's banana pudding", it is definitely worth a try. It is different, no meringue, but delicious. My kids and grandkids LOVE it. It is very easy, no cooking involved.

Leslie, you might like this tip. My moms cousin never had a weepy meringue pie. She told my mom her secret. She beats the egg whites like normal and then folds in a jar of marshmallow cream. Tops the pies just as you did. Makes the meringue very pretty and flavorful. Thank you for sharing your recipes. I love watching your channel. 😊

I make a deconstructed banana pudding. My husband does not like the wafers soggy and he does not like meringue. So I make the pudding and he puts it together as he eats it and we use cool whip. I love the old fashion way and I like it the way my husband likes it so I do it the way he likes it.

Drop the bananas into the custard gently folding in as you go…might help. Use an egg slicer…. Ever thought of making a custard with peanut butter? Bananas and peanut butter are great together! Yum
Try whipped cream topping with instant vanilla pudding in it to stabilize it for peaks instead of Meringue.

New subscriber here, and I just had to come watch this video! My grandma taught me how to make banana pudding from scratch standing over the stove stirring until ur arm feels like it’s gonna fall off lol! My hubby says I’ve ruined him forever bc now he can’t stomach the banana pudding made with the instant jello. I make him banana pudding often and even his co-workers beg me to make it. This microwave method has me shook!! This will make it so much easier! Gonna try this method next week and see if my hubby can tell I didn’t slave over a hot stove! Tysm for sharing!! 😊

I cut mine into the custard pudding mix to cover them faster. I think it works too - like you. Then pour it into the bowl- or pan. I also use less wafers but that’s just the way we like it. So it doesn’t soak up all the good custard.

Leslie, I never heard or seen banana pudding done like this before . I am so excited to see you make this & am definitely going to make this for my son and his family for Easter or my Birthday the week after Easter. One question is how long will it last in the refrigerator? I was also wondering if you could freeze it? Curious if it was frozen w/o the meringue then could you whip up a meringue and bake it in the oven.
Again Thank you so very much for sharing this awesome recipe!!

Like that recipe, but hubby likes banana pudding not vanilla pudding in his. Also I use mini vanilla wafers and ripe bananas. Also set them up in individual serving size bowls. Use cool whip when we serve them. I don't eat the banana pudding he likes. I probably can make your pudding and add banana flavoring in it to make his and leave original vanilla for me.
