I made this. My recommendations. -add sugar to the heavy whipping cream for flavour. -if you want it to taste more like banana instead of vanilla. Use banana pudding for a thicker banana flavour but it will taste artificial. -If using vanilla pudding add only 2 cups heavy whipping cream instead of 3. Other than that it was good and makes a hell of a lot of pudding.

I made this last weekend and I used milk eggs and flour to make the pudding. I even saved the whites to make a meringue top. OMG it was delicious ! Make sure you do not have any moisture present in the bowl/utensil when whipping the meringue it will turn out flat.
4 eggs, 1/2 sugar 1/3 & 1tbs flour 2 cups of milk Mix all in a pot Turn stove on low temp and stir wait until it become thick. Take off heat mix 1/2 TBs vanilla extract and 3 tbs of butter. Of course you can use the egg whites from the eggs hand mixer with a splash of lemon make your own cool whip. Don’t forget the banana and vanilla wafers.

I read this comment and added 2 extra tsp of vanilla extract and it had a weird dry-vanilla flavor that gave that resembled saltiness. DON'T add extra vanilla if this is your first time making this recipe.

I got this same recipe from a Food Lion Vanilla Wafer box, back in the 90's and it is delicious 😋 I've started using Chessman cookies and it takes it to another level 😋
I wish ppl would appreciate other cookie brands. They don't feel confident to mk it unless they hv vanilla wafers. I mk my kool-aid pie with different kind of cookies as the crust still taste good. Doesn't hv to b graham cracker crust. I use vanilla wafers, graham cracker, golden oreo....don't matter 2 me. Unfortunately my local store always out of nilla wafers so I'm glad I'm creative enuf to try other snacks
I have some chessman and that's what I'm using today. I don't like the taste of nilla wafers they aren't as good as they once were they taste so processed now.

Unless my family's tastebuds are different from everyone else's, me thinks some people aren't following the recipe 🤔🤷♀️
This time, I left off the eagles brand milk-used regular milk, and I did not use cool whip like before (mistake). I did use whipping cream, did not add sugar. The only sweetness came from the pudding and the cookies, and of course, the bananas. I cannot do all that sugar. It turned out great, for our taste.

That's a standard banana pudding recipe, except if you make the non-instant Jell-O vanilla pudding and cook it on the stovetop, the warm pudding helps to soften the Nilla wafers. Warm banana pudding -- yum! yum!

They gave you this recipe because the recipe belongs to Eagle Condensed Milk company. Their recipe tells you if you use a different brand of anything it won’t taste the same. I’ve been using this recipe for over 20yrs....
I was born and lived in the south for many years and my grandmother and my aunts made the custard from scratch they never used like the banana jello pudding. My concern is that it may come out too sweet but I could be wrong, I want to try this just to see what all of the fuss is about. I hope it comes out good.
Homemade custard is the best!!! Family recipes are the best. I have a bit if a sweet tooth. Some have mentioned they only used half of the condensed milk to lessen the sweetness. I also put the cold water in the freezer to make it colder. Good luck!
You won’t add sugar to the heavy whipping cream, so when they’re combined it really lightens the sweetness. Also, add some extra vanilla bean paste to the mixture to amp the flavor!

I was able to get away with 3 hours of chilling, just FYI anyone. Also, I made an Oreo version as well with Oreo Jello Pudding, chocolate wafer cookies, and a layer of the thin Oreo cookies : )
Oh! I also added vanilla and vanilla bean paste to the mixtures and it really amped up the flavor! Especially paste in the vanilla pudding, I just love that vanilla bean taste!
@@daricanderson4913 I think Oreo and banana would be fine together! Chocolate with banana is one of my most favorite things. It won’t taste like a true cookies and cream but will prob still be great. At the store you can get chocolate wafer cookies (which won’t have the added Oreo cream), or use Oreo cookies. I used the thin ones in mine. It will all be good!

This is the same recipe that my grandma used to make banana pudding and that I use now, just that if you’re like me in that you like the banana flavor but not the texture then do like me and after you mix the condensed milk and water you can blind it together with 2 bananas this way you can have more layers of vanilla wafers or I like to do 2 layers of wafers then a middle layer of frozen Reese’s peanut butter cups (crumbled) then 2 more layers of wafers and then a top of wafers and Reese’s crumbled up

I made mine without the eagle brand milk, and no cool whip, because the last time I made it, it was too sweet for my taste. However, I did use whipping cream, like the Magnolia recipe calls for.
You know since yesterday evening I've been trying to understand what went wrong with my pudding, eventhough I followed every step it was soo runny. The problem is exactly what you pointed out: non-instant pudding !!! Where I live here, there isn't the instant one's, I've only fell on one brand for vanilla pudding, and didn't know that in this case it should be cooked instead...I'll try it next time with the cooked pudding hoping it'll make everything fine. I was surprised too when I read water as an ingredient on their website. I much rather try your recipe! Where is your restaurant? When it is safe to travel again, I would love to taste your banana pudding.
I think they do that because the condensed milk mixed with the water makes a sweet milk to start out with. Then it’s mixed with more dairy in the heavy cream. I can see why, since the pudding mixture starts out so sweet, then it’s added to the unsweetened cream. Not sure, but can’t wait to eat it tomorrow!

The heavy whipping cream is natural and fresh. Cool Whip, while convenient, is artificial. Fresh is best. JMO.

I made mine without the eagle brand milk, and no cool whip, because the last time I made it, it was too sweet for my taste. However, I did use whipping cream, like the Magnolia recipe calls for.

MAKE SURE YOU USE INSTANT PUDDING!!! There is a jello brand exactly like the instant one that you have to COOK otherwise your pudding will stay watery
You know since yesterday evening I've been trying to understand what went wrong with my pudding, eventhough I followed every step it was soo runny. The problem is exactly what you pointed out: non-instant pudding !!! Where I live here, there isn't the instant one's, I've only fell on one brand for vanilla pudding, and didn't know that in this case it should be cooked instead...I'll try it next time with the cooked pudding hoping it'll make everything fine. Thanks for this precious remark that all videos seem to fail to highlight !

I’ve never used water in my banana pudding, and I add 2 more ingredients for that rich and creamy flavor and texture.. but I’m interested to try this for my customers and let them judge .
I was surprised too when I read water as an ingredient on their website. I much rather try your recipe! Where is your restaurant? When it is safe to travel again, I would love to taste your banana pudding.

I think they do that because the condensed milk mixed with the water makes a sweet milk to start out with. Then it’s mixed with more dairy in the heavy cream. I can see why, since the pudding mixture starts out so sweet, then it’s added to the unsweetened cream. Not sure, but can’t wait to eat it tomorrow!
@@Laneliberty6670 yeaaaa I hear what you’re saying but it’s still a no for me. Water and pudding just don’t create the taste you’re looking for. Milk isn’t sweet, so using that instead of water isn’t going to manipulate the sweetness.

@@leeantony I’ve never had it. But I heard so much about it. And because it’s so famous I always thought it must be made from scratch. When things are famous in Europe. It’s usually because it’s homemade.
in my opinion its way too sweet-- substituted regular milk instead of the sweetened condensed milk and loved it
