Chris Stuckmann reviews Halloween III: Season of the Witch, starring Tom Atkins, Stacey Nelkin, Dan O'Herlihy. Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. - Развлечения
Season of the Witch is a movie that's grown on me over the years. I really enjoy it and think it's very underrated. The ending with Tom Atkins screaming "STOP IT!" still gives me chills to this day because of how much the distress in his voice increases.
Totally agree with you.
This prick who hated this film is a shit head
Facts
It sucks “end of story, bye-bye! see you later”-Shrek.
Sorry but i disagree
Chris, Carpenter didn’t assume that the audience wanted more gore in the second movie. The studio stepped in and told him to add it.
I mean they where not wrong , having more good it’s not a bad thing , take advantage of the r rating
The ending of the film though... one of the best horror film endings of all time, despite the film’s faults
It's definitely not the best
@@arentux5759 Like I said, one of the best. Not necessarily the best, but one of them IMO.
@@martyjackson4166 It's bad though.
Seriously man?? That’s one of the WORST endings ever!! Nothing that happens makes any sense. Especially Ellie becoming a cyborg. There was no point of that happening anyways. Halloween 3 is one of my most hated movies of all time.
@@MaxNeugebauer. I agree that the cyborg thing is dumb. But the ending makes sense to me at least. And those ending shots are genuinely discomforting precisely because you don’t know what happens
Chris' "holy shit!" at the beginning was very convincing haha
That opening skit was glorious
Neverheart yep.
Hell the opening credit sequence is awesome.
Yeah
@@JaydevRaol Am I the only one who thought that it would have been funny if that skit ended with Michael Myers breaking his silence by saying: “Oh, s***!!!” When Chris exited the building and fled from him.
The night No one comes home
You can say whatever you want, but this movie brings me good childhood memories from the 80's. Being excited watching it with friends while eating all kind of junk food, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Burger King etc ... I love it!
This was back in the day when movies we consider terrible today were actually great.
He's got no motivation for his investigation? I dunno, preventing mass child murder seem like pretty good motivation.
he didn't know that was gonna happen until near the end of the movie, so no it wasn't his motivation.
The B in BITCH no actually I’d say that’s a good motive but that’s not the implication I got. If you see it in a different way and interpret that as his motivation then that’s valid and you have every right to. Honestly, to me it looked like he was chasing after a hot young woman and ignoring his responsibilities towards his children.
@Religionisoverrated "...Aren't made for you to like the characters" I dunno about that. I liked Dr. Loomis and Laurie Strode. I liked Jamie Lloyd, Rachael Carruthers and Sheriff Meeker in the sequels. And that's just the Halloween series alone. As far as horror... that's debatable. If done right, you should like your characters. Look at Jaws.
@Religionisoverrated There's no need to emphasize the keyword. I got you the first time. That's why I said, "when done right."
@@hexalynn9434 No he didn't know that, but the guy in the hospital told him "they're going to kill all of us", and the he was murdered by a man who then set himself on fire!! So I think after witnessing that, he had a pretty good motivation!
I didn't find Halloween 3 boring at all, but to each their own. The atmosphere, music score and 80s horror vibe in this movie are all top notch. At the very least it has a coherent plot, which is more than can be said about the last 3 Halloween movies.
Bad taste
@@dontrah1838 Whatever. To each their own. Is Halloween 3 a masterpiece? No, it has flaws. But the atmosphere, vibe and feel of the movie just scream "Halloween" to me. And regardless what you think of the movie, the soundtrack itself is amazing. You cannot deny that.

Yeah you're right that the biggest mistake they should've called it HALLOWEEN: SEASON OF THE WITCH and mark it as not a Michael Myers film even though the tagline of the film is Tonight no one comes home.
Absolutely agree! If the movie was just called “Season of the Witch”, it would’ve been a hit!
He said there was a lot of filler and boring shit and once in awhile someone died. That also describes the first two Halloween movies and basically every early 1980s horror movie. Lots of filler and it takes forever to get to the good parts.
For an 1980s movie, it was good. I liked it back then. All movies made back then were kinda lame. There were a few good movies like Jaws and Star Wars, other than that there were thousands of these 1980s kinda crappy movies. It would be best to say it was an average 1980s movies, not bad, just average.
In the 1980s, no internet, you were bored a lot of the time, you couldn't just watch anything anytime, you had to find a copy and there wasn't much to choose from. If Chris Stuckmann were around then, he would understand that from a 1980s perspective this movie was good. People were pissed because they came to see Mike Myers, not because the movie was horrible. The 1980s was so boring, people would rewatch movies over and over. Space Invaders the the best video game. I spent hours and hours day after day playing space invaders. So did a lot of people. This gives you context. By 2019 standards yes this movie kinda sucks.
@@BrettonFerguson all wrong you don't get life 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Granted this comment is old I just wanted to say that with his review I agree with almost everything. For me and for some people that criticize this film based on loose story, weird plot points and just really silly “scares” it’s just too underwhelming.
Too each their own but I agree with Chris with the boring aspect, I love the idea of a new Halloween with changing stories like a horrific twilight zone movie saga or something but this just felt flat and for me it had nothing to do with Myers being absent.
I think the sinister nature of Cochran's character has helped the cult status. I'm sure you agree the scene of him explaining the pagan origins of Halloween to a tied-up protagonist is chilling.

Say what you want about this movie, it’s got a ruthless villain. The guy murdered more kids than Michael Myers
And Dan O'Herlihy is always a treat to watch, whether here, Robocop or especially Last Starfighter (as Grig).
Yeah the villain and the gas station guy are the best characters of this movie. Sadly they're the only good characters this movie has.
His only motivation is 'getting some'? C'mon Chris no way. He may be slightly perverted in getting some action from a younger girl, but I understand his reasons for the lead character getting involved in the mystery of whats going on. The weird death of that robot posing as a man at the hospital killing himself was intriging enough and worrying about the death of many innocent children on the night of Halloween allows him to be a hero doing something right.
Agreed. I think that Chris wasn't really into reviewing this, he missed some very good things in this review, he did the same with Alien 3, Sleepwalkers and others. Love Chris but it bugs me a bit when he doesn't pay close attention to certain things when he watches a film. Usually he does but he checks out when he's not feeling the movie.
@@TheBraunMachine2011 Chris is F.O.S. nowdays.

Disappointing to see Chris give it a D- ... Didn't expect that after watching his review of "In the Mouth of Madness" and John Rodriguez analysis of the underlying theme of all John Carpenter movies... Season of the Witch is the one movie that is not directed by John Carpenter but still feels likes he was behind absolutely everything about it.
He will probably give Resurrection an F.

This movie is my favourite Halloween movie ever. I love the concept. I love the story. I can’t believe people don’t actually like it. It holds true to the time period and the effects scared the shit out of me as a kid. Why can’t he just be a shitty human being who learns something horrible?
People don't like it, because halloween 1&2 was associated with a legend character (Michael Myers). Everyone expected halloween 3 to continue the Michael Myers story which made it a huge disappointment for the audience.
I love the concept if they never went back to Michael Myers
This is underrated because this has a great story and characters to certain point in the movie. This a scary movie so I can forget the pace
@@S3P7 it’s not because there’s no Michael Myers but terrible execution as well, so much wasted potential, I loved the atmosphere & the reveal was poorly executed, the fact that they try to have it in the franchise when there’s no Michael or WITCH like stated is just stupid, what a disappointment, there were some ideas that I even liked.
@@angelotrinidad6888 Cochran is the Witch if you paid attention to the dialogue and what he was trying to do. He's a male Witch a Warlock.

The lead is not supposed to be some angelic,do-gooder... he’s kind of an anti hero. If you want to think deep into it(and apparently you do,being a critic),it goes to show that even a womanizing, sleazy kinda guy can oppose absolute evil...because EVERYONE is flawed, but we can all do more to make a stand for what is right.
Zack Reynolds He does not want to think about something deeply - he wants to convey he does.
Zack Reynolds that was terrible. Try again
I think the fact he was so flawed, made the movie a bit more disturbing to me. It's a very good film. the score is good as well.
It was the 80’s; he was a doctor who liked alcohol, and banging chicks. And the man still took the time to solve a mystery. HERO.
Yeah but he doesn't have any redeeming qualities.
disagree totally. the film is creepy n scared me when i was a kid. even as an adult thers something unsettling bout it.
He acknowledged that there are people who like it.
@Lawn Mower umm no, he liked the idea of a different story, he said it in this video...
@@emilengen7825 That has nothing to do with what Ryan G said.
It was the first Halloween I saw as a kid and I still think it is best of all the Halloween films and the most original. The slasher monster/killer horror movies had been done to death. This and American Werewolf in London made only like sophisticated horror films as a kid like fire starter, life force, Vamp, A company of wolves, Predator, Hysterical, Omen and Dark Angel.
this movie is trash
I really don't get why people say that this film was boring, I've always found it has a mix of suspense (made by the creep factor and atmosphere of the town) and some good dark humor, the combination has always managed to keep me entertained. Plus that glorious jingle.
The problem is not that it doesn't have Michael Myers or the fact that it's called Halloween III, No the biggest problem this movie has is with the characters. Especially the main character who is an unlikable creep who cheats on his wife, neglects his kids, and is only helping this grieving 20 something girl just because he wants to get in bed with her.
Halloween III is a definite gem in my opinion. The main reason people crap on Season of the Witch has less to do with the film itself, and more to do with the film being titled Halloween III.
yea cus there's no michael myers..so lets give it a bad shitty review like this video..lame..this's one of best 80's movies
To me, it is bad because the story is nonsensical to me.
I prefer this movie than seeing the same thing over and over again. Nice profile pic, at first I thought it was something from Junji Ito.
Why are you being ignorant he never said he doesn't like this movie because it's called Halloween he literally gave his reasons on why it's garbage
Halloween 3 is actually one of the best Halloween films, so many of the other movies were terrible as I just watched them all from the first to the last. What chris calls an odd choice I call creative.
No, it’s literally the worst of the franchise. And it’s one of the worst movies ever made. F**k Halloween 3!!
Not to mention the first film had even worse acting than 3.
I'd officially remove this one from the Halloween-Series and just call it "Season of the Witch".
I wouldn't even call it season of the witch since it really has nothing to do with that either lol How about Season of the Micks? Lol 😂

I think its underrated that had the balls to kill kids. What else is there with Myers other than Return & Kill in every sequel, no wonder they wanted to try something new. You can built a cinematic universe with Haddonfield. So far we have teenagers getting killed by Myers and kids getting killed by a commercial. You can create cool new ideas.
i loved it. i dont care that Tom Atkins was a womanizer. I think it makes him more interesting. The conventional special effects were awesome in my opinion. And yeah kids die terrible gruesome deaths in this movie which is pretty brave of them.
Sure there are some silly moments. Every horror movie has one, whether you may find it disturbing or laughable like the bear blowjob scene in the Shining....some say wtf....while others laugh.
This review saddens me.
You're taking it waaaaay to serious.
I rarely disagree with you Chris but I'm sorry brother Halloween 3 is awesome! Scared the crap out of me as a kid and still to this day, very creepy. I would have loved to seen a follow up to this film. I always wondered where did the mask maker go at the end.
Derrick Samuels ummmmm...
Honestly Season Of The Witch is one of those movies that has guts to kill a kid that really brutal even seeing Dick Warlock who played as Michael Myers in Rick Rosenthal's HALLOWEEN II (1981) where he freaking ripped off Starker's head I mean HOLY SHIT!
That's great if you enjoyed this film dude but you must understand that most of us didn't. It bored me. I saw it when I was 13 for the first time and fell asleep before I could change the channel but like I said if you liked it that's ok.
I liked something about it, but Stuckman is right, the scariest thing is this old dude making out with this young chic right after her father was murdered.
I prefer it over most the Halloween sequels tbh
Thats too bad. I actually love Halloween 3. Tom Atkin's character is meant to be a unlikely hero.. and i think you are taking this film a little too srsly, with the gore and deaths. And not even mentioning the awesome soundtrack?
I think the irony with his character's womanising is that it comes back to bite him in the ass when his female companion in this movie is turned into a robot and tries to kill him, more than once. I bet that put him off girls for life.
100% agree with everything you said
@@Foebane72 that was something I thought Chris would've noticed too. Hell, the scene with the lady tinkering with the Silver Shamrock chip was great too, that woman is actually Atkins' wife in real life btw, that scene was one that I thought Chris would've brought up. That scene was brutal.
@@TheBraunMachine2011 Wow, I did not know that.
@@Foebane72 I think they mention it on commentary as well. Jamie Lee Curtis is also in the film uncredited, she's the voicing announcing the curfew for the town.
Halloween is referenced bc Season of the Witch was the first of a planned anthology. The worlds wouldn't be connected, the films were only going to be connected by the holiday of Halloween. Not fun closing on a negative review (I quite enjoy this film), but you put in some work this month man!
LOL, loved that opening skit with you & Michael, but I gotta disagree with you here on this review, Chris. I loved this movie and consider it to be very underrated. Carpenter wrote this film, he ended up taking off his name but he wrote a good amount of this, it has his feel all over it. Tommy's the lone credit but look it up, you'll see Carpenter had alot to do with this. I was surprised you didn't mention Jamie Lee Curtis being in this film either, she was uncredited as the voice announcing curfew for the town. Halloween 3 wasn't really a sequel to the other films, the only connection is that Challis sees the trailer on tv. This film is really good and I honestly found the villain Conal Cochran (who is a male witch) to be terrifying and scarier than Myers. Loomis, Laurie and even Jamie could reach Michael at times, with Cochran you couldn't. He was evil, maybe even more because he gleefully killed those kids and made Challis watch on helplessly. And the ending is just so good. Classic Carpenter, leaving you with a cliffhanger ending, much like he did with The Thing & Prince of Darkness etc. The ending with Challis was also a nod to the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers where Kevin McCarthy's character is screaming at the camera. Look up the RUclipsr 'GoodBadFlicks', he has a great video on Halloween 3 explaining what happened before, during and after the filming of the film.
Also, the reason why Challis left was to help Ellie find out who killed her dad and why, he tried to help the guy and even chased out the robot guy who killed him, when he sees the guy kill himself, that's when he wants to know what's going on. Why would the guy kill himself like that, why was her father freaking out etc. He says that to Ellie not that long afterwards, Chris. That's why he asked the Teddy character to help him find out info on Cochran. I thought the ending twists were really good too. Very underrated film.
Carpenter didn't write it, it was written by Nigel Kneale and then Tommy Lee Wallace was made to revise the script to make it more gory, so Kneale asked not to be credited.
Jesus you planning on writing a book or something?

I think this movie is underrated. It is slow paced, but I didn't find it boring. I think of it more like a mystery/thriller. It has some really big problems, but the 1st and 3rd acts are very strong in my opinion. The choice to end the movie with the main character pleading with the TV stations to cut the feed while behind him the jingle plays on is very effective.
+Doctor Octagon That’s not true. He’s given good reviews to these types of movies that mix different genres. Also, trying to over-top the gore not needed to be topped in the first movie, according to Chris Stuckmann...yeah, totally a mystery/thriller.
The gore isn't really even over the top on this film. Sure there's more than on the first two, but it's extremely tame, even for a movie from the 80's. Watch this and then The Thing and it's not hard to see.
@@thefirstbourne149 Its not that over the top!
+Christopher Campbell I’m saying that’s why it doesn’t work for this series. The original movie wasn’t this over-the-top with the gore and violence. The main villain scared you simply because he was walking so slow. That’s the suspense John Carpenter created with that first movie.
+Nicholas Boljkovac Maybe not...I haven’t seen it, but you’re acting like Chris doesn’t have a good reason to say that the movie is bad and deserves it’s low grade. He mentioned those reasons.
I actually really like this movie. I don't love it, nor do I think it holds a candle to the original film, but I still think it's a damn good movie.

I normally dig most of your reviews, but I’d have to disagree with you on just about every point you made. It’s a great film in its own right, and Tom Atkin’s character was written as an alcoholic ladies man doctor, who obviously has issues with commitment. I mean living a life of an on call full time doctor would be enough to drive any sane man to alcoholism. As for the kills, the scene where Marge gets her face blown apart from the shamrock logo, messed me up for awhile as a kid, so I’d say they nailed what they set out to do. Also a quick fact you didn’t mention, is that Tommy Lee Wallace fought tooth and nail to try and get universal to not label it as “Halloween 3” but just as “Season Of The Witch”, which would’ve definitely made audiences look at it in a totally different light as oppose to ‘a new Halloween film that didn’t have Michael Myers in it’. The score is brilliant, the locations were perfect, and Tom Atkins kills just about every role he’s been in. I don’t have very many complaints with this film, and would put it in my top 3 favorite Halloween films by far.

Don’t agree with you on this one chris, H3:SOTW is a setting years after the baby sitter murders in Illinois. The movie you see on the tv (Halloween 1978) is actually what Stab in the movie scream is, a re-creation of the events of the first movie set within the world of the movie because it happened. We never actually get a clear image of Laurie and if you take Halloween 2 (1981) in continuity with the first trilogy then ben the guy Laurie was supposed to go out with was actually wearing a “Michael Myers” costume so the look could of been replicated easily. How long does something take to be called an “immortal” classic? Plus if you just take the first three movies you get the answer why Michael Myers on Halloween in 1963 went crazy and killed his sister, he was wearing a prototype Silver Shamrock clown costume. It was successful.
Loved the intro and your stuff in general, happy Halloween brother.
+Wanderer Named Guy Either way, I think it makes more sense for it to show up in Scream than in the very movie series it’s a part of.

As a kid this film terrified me!Unfortunately people just couldn’t see past the lack of Michael Myers which sadly meant no other anthology movies were made. I’d have loved to see what came next in the series.
We can reconcile this movie with the rest of the franchise by imagining that it's possible it was this Shamrock company who accidentally created Michael with a test costume with the satanic stone and electronics in the mask. Maybe this test costume had unintended consequences. Instead of nearly dead zombified people, it caused Michael's mind to break in a crazy way while giving him immortality. Michael became a twisted vengeful being of broken morality. Not exactly evil perse, but ultimately neutral and bent on killing anyone he perceived as evil for reasons known only to him. The sister having sex under her parents roof and out of wed lock would be something Michael might perceive as deserving of a death sentence. No anger, no evil, just Michael's judgement and 100% unfeeling neutral punishment for a deserving act.

Is it March 2018 already?
Yes
I don't get it...
@@JAMES-my8bf He was supposed to review this movie last year in March.
@@Kreitinhop okay thanks lol
Damn the second time I've disagreed with you this month... The first time was about the new Halloween movie which I absolutley loved and second was this movie.
I'm going to pull a Chris Stuckmann here. I GREW UP watching this movie. I GREW up watching all of the great horror movies from this era and beyond. I have to say this is one I watch every Halloween. I thought it was quite creepy back then and in some parts terrifying when I was younger. The poor lady that got shot in the face by that laser beam from the mask tag, the kid that died with the mask on and had bugs crawling out of his mouth. Scared the hell out of me!
Actually it was a giant ass snake that came out of his mouth.
It's actually a giant ass snake came out of the kid mouth.
@@abramsullivan7764 and a lot of bugs as well
Bro just Bec a movie scares u as a child doesn't make it good bro anything is scary to children this movie isn't creepy when ur a adult LMAO
Wow Chris really gotta disagree with you on this one.
Its probably my favorite Halloween movie because of the atmosphere and general Halloween 'feel'. For a series called Halloween, most ofthe movies don't have the feeling of Halloween, they feel like they could take place any other day of the year.
That's a great way to put it. Before I knew anything about Halloween and Michael Myers, this is the type of movie I was expecting. I just watched Season of The Witch and I gotta say. It was a great time. Some suspense and some out loud scream laughing, it was a great, cheesy, horrible 80s movie and I loved it.
For me Halloween 3 is the best, think we're on an island with our opinions for this one.
Halloween 4 and Halloween 6 have a ton of Halloween atmosphere
Dawg u can't rate and entire movie on just the atmosphere alone what's the matter with you to be so superficial bro good thing u don't have a channel and u definitely no critic cuz boy are u 1 dimensional
I never found anything creepy about Dr.Challis & Ellie's relationship at all, I'm not that childish. She's a beautiful 23 year old woman, not some teenage girl. Dan Challis just got lucky. I think the word "creepy" is extremely overused nowadays which is really annoying and quite juvenile. Nothing odd about a young adult sleeping with someone older.
Halloween 3 is a very dark, atmospheric mystery film with a cynical commentary on American consumer culture if you don't look it in such a narrow, jaded perspective. It has an anti corporate message where an otherwise successful businessman turns "oddly irrational" and seeks to "promote a more robotic future for commerce and manufacture". The film's plot signified the results of the victory of patriarchal corporate control. Its rather far from boring.
I don't know how you could describe the last scene where Ellie attacks Dan in the car as "atrocious".. Stacey Nelkin gave an excellent performance, especially as one of the robots at the end, which I had no idea was coming first watching it. This movie is weird & twisted.
The fact it takes so long to figure out what's going on goes with it being more of a mystery. The part where they show the original Halloween on the tv is just a "homage", like how Nightmare on Elm Street was shown on tv in Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
I agree with you completely on all points. I generally enjoy Chris's reviews, and actually have a lot of sensibilities in common with him when it comes to what he likes and dislikes about particular films, but I'm completely on the other side of the fence on nearly every point with this one. Other than the first film, this is the only Halloween that I'll watch, given the opportunity. I wouldn't give it an A rating, but it does deserve a solid B.
My issue isn't Ellie's age. But what was he thinking when he met her? "Sorry about your dad just getting killed, but I need to get laid`" Not particularly nice attitude.
Nah a 50 year old man hooking up with a 20 year old is creepy dawg 30 years apart Lmao stop it her brain is far inferior to his and she will be easily manipulated into something she does want to do
I Fucking Love this Movie...
Terrible taste
Like most I hated this one when I first saw it. Because it's called Halloween III. But now I just think of it as Season of the Witch. Standalone with a few fun nods to JC's Halloween. Wild story, that amazingly dark early 80's vibe, the score is like Halloween meets The Terminator and it builds and builds to an ending that is chilling and brilliant. It's absurd, things about it are weak, but the more I watch it the more I appreciate it. Certainly preferable to some of the later Halloween sequels, i.e. 5, 6 or Resurrection.
The jingle is forever stuck in my brain. Every year around Halloween, I find myself singing it.
It should be called Season of the Witch with no link to the Halloween series, but this is a fun, entertaining horror themed film from the 80s and the Silver Shamrock masks are the best.
halloween 3 is a slow burn and it doesnt quite deliver, but the atmosphere the music and to be honest i like tom atkins in it, hes just an everyday guy trying to figure stuff out make it for me, i was invested, the scene where the girl is a cyborg made me sad because then i knew the real girl was dead and i liked her, halloween 3 is my favourite after the first one, yep there i said it
Hey Chris, any chance that you could review the new Suspiria movie, now that it’s about to open wide? Maybe also review the original too please, if you can?
I remember seeing this at a movie theatre it was kind of spooky and original for a stand alone film. It freaked me out a little when I was in preschool. I seen this with my babysitter and her two friends. This could be a x files movie back in the day with alot of crazy ideas and gore and especially plot holes.
As decades has gone by due to streaming on tv I notice that more and more people begin to like this film for some reason .
It is a cult classic.
I loved it♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Super excited for the upcoming Hill House Review!
Underrated film
H3 is the perfect cheesy 80s horror movie
This
I actually dig this movie. This movie is very good and entertaining and puts me in the Halloween. It’s not a movie that should be taken seriously at all. It’s just a really fun horror adventure.
Chris You are taking this movie to seriously
man you have really out done yourself this year well done Chris well done!
that movie freaked me out a little back then
JaKBaLL TV are talking about the intro?
@@awaytosleep5762 all of it, 3 more days till halloween, silver shamrock! omg.. and the kids heads with the worms n shit
creepy AF
Oh really it freaked u out as a child? Lmao as if that's hard to do kids get scared by anything the original Halloween scared adults not just children who cares if it creeped u out as a kid it does nothing when ur a grown up
I actually liked the movie. :( i definitely see everything wrong with it, but hey, not all movies have to be perfect to have fans, right?
4:07 I would have done worse.
- Harvey Weinstein
If Chris doesn't like it, it's almost certain to be a good flick. H3 is atmospheric, moody, risky and quirky fun!
Most Underrated Horror Sequel Ever
Halloween 3 as a *really* good film. Its not slasher-based, which obviously loses some fans and the break from Myers no doubt lost most of the rest at the time. However I personally prefer the paranormal focus and the story is... unusual and understated. Also it was written by Nigel Kneale who was _one_ of if not _the_ best among all British genre scriptwriters. It has flaws. Obviously. Not least that they applied a thick coat of gore after the screenplay was finished. I would really have liked to see how it would have looked in its original form--perhaps something similar in tone to the equally excellent 'The Fog'. Still, what we got doesn't totally betray the underlying material and in some cases nicely ups the ante.
That said, there are definitely problems I can admit to despite being a devoted fan. The fact the protagonist's girlfriend was a robot all along was a bit tedious not to mention obvious. As was the pointless alcoholism sub-plot that went no where. Also the fact that a cheesy novelty toy maker was in a position to all-but destroy the world was more than a bit silly--if remade it would need to be something like an (even more) evil Apple or Microsoft to have the kind of societal reach the Irish dude from Robocop planned. However the atmosphere is *intense* and the script is Kneale gold, despite the fact he tried to disown it.
I really think 'Halloween 3' is overdue a reappraisal, especially as by all accounts the new one has made some serious money at the box office.
Love this movie. I watch it every Halloween on an old VHS.
The biggest mistake they did was giving it the title "Halloween 3". Very underrated movie. If you forget about the Halloween movies for a moment and just watch it for what it is it's quite an enjoyable and fun movie!
Even Tommy Lee Wallace said that but the producers were so sure that Tacking Halloween on would help the movie. Unfortunately they were wrong even thought it's a great genre piece of the early 80's. I love it and Dean Cundey deserves a lot of credit for how he shot it.
@@Ghoulstille Agree. Dean Cundey is criminally underrated. By far one of my favorite cinematographers.
Very under appreciated movie tbh
I haven't seen the movie but afte this review even I acknowledge this movie is shit. I mean some of the choices for this movie don't even make sense. It's underappreciated rightfully so
I love this movie, in a so bad it’s good type of way. Just something about it is charming, if you go into it expecting it to be a masterpiece then it sucks. If you just want to see a campy Halloween flick that isn’t to deep then I find it enjoyable.
@@tjhicks3600 just watch it..u may enjoy it more than original halloween too
Nah it's overrated
I liked Halloween 3, you can fight me on that 😆
*dresses up as Michael Myers and tries to find you*
I hated it because i rented it as a kid expecting Michael Myers and he never showed up. I was like, what the hell is this? Did i even get the right movie?
Ill have to rewatch it and judge it based on its own merit.
Ashley Bailey oh no I'm more scared of your threat
than the movie ha
Uh no I won't fight you because you are a girl and honestly I agree with your opinion about Season Of The Witch A Halloween Story.
Better than remakes
Gonna have to heavily disagree here. I found lots of enjoyment out of this installment, and liked how it was something different
I got 41 minutes in and well during those 41 minutes I kept thinking to myself. "WOW I WISH THIS WASN'T SO BORING.......HMMM SHOULD I SKIP THIS THING AND PUT ON HALLOWEEN 4??"
I'm going through the Halloween franchise right now for the first time
Chris’s reaction at 0:06 is priceless. “HOLY SHIT!!!”
well halloween 3 thinks chris stuckman is boring. haha
i love this movie.
Great to see Chris is in the distinct minority on not liking the movie!
Halloween 3 grew up with Chris Stuckman.
sad u get upset because someone doesn't agree with u and Chris has a way better knowledge of film than u
The real question is where did you get that Labyrinth shirt because I need that in my life.
It's an underrated movie that would have got more love if it was just called Season of the Witch
I feel like some of your issues are a bit disingenuous. He's going to check the factory out because he was shaken by what went down at the hospital and then finds out that what happened to the man in the hospital probably started when he went to the factory. And sure, that first kill was funny but you're really gonna ignore the bridge of the nose kill, or the misfire, or the first time we see what the masks do? Idk Chris, I love your reviews but it seemed like you were trying to make everyone agree with you by ignoring the cooler bits of the movie. You're entitled to your opinion but I think this review could use a lot of work.
Damn it man.. I'm bout to clock in... I'll watch it at lunch 😔
Edit
I'm eating my sammich watching Chris 😋😊😊😊
Yeah Halloween III isn't perfect, for sure, but I've grown to really like it.
I find there's a genuinely good sense of mystery to it, and the music is incredible too. I also really get behind the reasoning for everything too, with the whole sacrificial side to it.
I think potentially, the movie could be remade with its flaws fixed, but for what it is now, I quite enjoy it
I must have your shirt! I squee'd a little when I saw it. Also, hilarious opener! XD
I hated this movie when it came out but now i actually love it and i think it is a very good scary halloween-themed movie! I disagree with all bad things you said about it. Its not a masterpiece but its a very good horror movie!
I gonna be honest, I enjoy the hell out of this film. Guilty pleasure, maybe, but it's my favorite in the series (apart from the original and the 2018 one). I can't be the only one...
You're not. Chris is being Contrary Chris.
Definitely not the only one, it’s my second favorite behind the original, and in a lot of ways I enjoy it the most of the whole franchise
+Foebane72 Ok...you know, you can have your opinions, but he addressed that he’s aware that some people think it’s underrated. Plus, it is trying to live up to the first movie, and then in random moments, and not all or most of them. That’s sounds a bit more like usual Chris because he’s not even that big a nitpicker.
You can be and you are
HALLOWEEN 3 IS OVERRATED AND GARBAGE AND THE BLUE LASER BEAM YEA GO EAT SHYT HALLOWEEN 3
Dear Chris and other watchers. I really need your help. A few years ago I saw a long duration film about some scientists travelling to Egypt to discover something about a tombe(i think). In the end, the couple that went there realised that their adopted (i think) son was a descendant of an Egyptian princess, maybe Cleopatra. I distinctly remember a scene where the boy is underwater and a snake tries to kill him but he manages to open the tombe door with a locket that he had. As I said this was a long time ago so I am not quite sure about the info. Please if you have seen this film, could you reply with the title? Thank you.
That Tom Atkins character would not be possible today 😂
I think its a good movie. If the movie was only titled "Season of the Witch", then the movie would not be seen as one of the worst movie ever made. Lot of people hates it because it says "Halloween III".
+Newt Jorden But that’s a problem I have with The Bourne Legacy, too. It’s not that fun for a guilty pleasure watch.
1982, what a year of classics. E.T, Star Trek II, Poltergeist ........ and Halloween III
@@bubo2528 Definitely Tron.
And Blade Runner and The Thing
Don't ever put Halloween 3 on the same level as ET straight up disrespectful
A better song than movie.
Hey Chris! Can you do a review of Mandy? Been wanting to see your take on it. Thought Cage was great in it btw.
