  • Today i will be briefly showing how to upgrade from stock brakes to akebono big brake kit.
    Parts needed
    all 4 brake calipers from rockauto. 2011 infiniti g37 sport
    Part numbers
    Front-POWER STOP S6232
    Rear-POWER STOP S6182
    Total of calipers come up to about $418 but the core for each is $57.50-$55.00
    Shorter banjo bolts- with washers-conceptzperformance.com/techn...
    brake pads and rotors- m.maxbrakes.com/en-us/select_d...
    dot 4 brake fluid- Whatever brand you prefer
    brake cleaner
    couple hours of your time

    Did this upgrade on my 03 g35, bought front and rear calipers with both front and rear rotors off a wrecked 37s had them turned, picked up z1 ss brake lines, z1 mounting bracket new czp akebono decals new brake pads all around and did it for 700....😁

    I used this video for reference when I installed my Akebonos on my 2011 Z. Not that complicated other than bleeding the beasts. Haven't done the rears yet but I will before too long. Good video! Torque the caliper bolts to 95lb-ft. (Have seen 91 to 98) Loctite blue isn't a bad idea, but I believe they'll stay on if torqued on.

    I installed mine on the G37xs 2009,
    When we install the Akebono caliper, We put the bolt, washer into the both bracket and tighten it and that caused the rotors to grind inside the caliper.
    So we couldn't figure it out why, we check the piston to make sure they were all the way in but no luck, so what we had to do is to take the washer and place in between the bracket and Akebono caliper. So you have the bolt- bracket- washer and caliper.
    but on yours you put the caliper and then you just put the Caliper brackets bolts in and you had no issues wow.
    Feels like something is not right

    hey bud, awesome content! i have a quick question, i'm not sure if this was asked already. there are 3 different sizes for the front rotors (320mm, 330mm & 355mm). will they all work or do we need to get a specific size?? i think the coupe and sedan have different brake rotor sizes... i am trying to do this upgrade on my 2006 m45 sport. cant wait to get started. thanks for the great video.

      No I did not. You probably will if you didn't buy the correct banjo bolts

      @Niklas Kaplan I'm working on my bbk now for my G37, the only problem is that my kit from AutoZone didnt come with the shorter banjo bolts to connect the caliper and breakline so my cars disabled until they come in form a dealership....
      SHOUTS OUT TO AUTOZONE Lol, i have no breaks right now

    Honestly I have powerstop drilled and slotted stock rotor size on my g35. Think I can run this calipers on that small of a rotor?

    Are the powerstop calipers the OEM Akebono brand, and will this work for the Infiniti Q50, seen exact thing on Rockauto, is it better finding the OEM Infiniti ones or this is the same?

    What did you do about the brake dust shields? I know there is a small lip on it. I didn't see them when you installed the rotor.

      Thats because i only install the front on this video. The brake dust shields only have to be cut for the rear.

      Don't believe it has to be a 19. But the sport models that has these brakes, I believe they are 19s.

      It's the same, you can use your existing brake lines. Just need different banjo bolts

      midnightclub2319 yea they only come in red on rockauto or you can also getting them straight metal. Which would be easier to paint. Just look under the caliber section on rockauto 2011 g37

      @@reggie_m45 you should have used greese in all the contact points and pins on the calipers as well as in the brackets since the calipers are brand new

      @@Danny-to8zt Did you ever find out if they fit a G35? I'm asking because I believe they will if they are supposedly remanufactured Akebonos. If they are they will fit if you have the right size wheel, do some modifications to the dust shields, get correct banjo bolts, upgrade brake lines and I believe the front or the rear needs an adapter for the caliper to fit. I had in mind to do the actual Akebono upgrade to my 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan but I wasn't aware of this Power Stop brake model that is supposedly a remanufactured Akebono. Let me know if you did the upgrade or need more info.

    You paid less than $400 for the calipers? Holy shit is that place your talking about sold out? I feel like I’ve searched everywhere and even the used ones are going for 600 and up

      Yup $400 but then you get a $200 core back. So all together $200. Should be still on rockauo. Just look at my part numbers

      Power stop brake calipers are basically remanufactured akebonos. I’m doing the same thing too lol

    Its 4 hours not 1 hour when u use a floor jack and take time to clean everything right. And please dont spend less than $1000 on this conversion. Good akibono pads and rotors alone are $600 online. You want a good quality set of calipers also for a conversion. Dont go cheap on your brakes, you will spend more in the long run trust me on that.
