- Les Claypool Rumble Of The Diesel
I like the rumble of the diesel and the smell of the oil
I percolate my coffee off the radiator boil
I been chasin' tuna nearly 27 years
I got the eyeballs of an eagle but there's ringing in my ears
I like the rumble of the diesel and the smell of the oil
Granddad was a farmer but I couldn't stand the soil
I like to keep it simple; it helps to keep me sane
I like floating in the ocean it nullifies the pain
Some say we can find a place
Between heaven and hell
Some work to make the bread rise
I like to plow the ocean swell
Errol's got a sweet monterey
Rigged for salmon and crab
Never had a family
Unless you count that old yellow lab
I like the rumble of the diesel and the smell of the oil
I percolate my coffee off the radiator boil
I been chasin' tuna nearly 27 years
I got the eyeballs of an eagle but there's ringing in my ears
I like the rumble of the diesel and the smell of the oil
Granddad was a farmer but I couldn't stand the soil
I like to keep it simple; it helps to keep me sane
I like floating in the ocean it nullifies the pain
Lookin' back to '95
I had a fresh Cummings re-power
Draggin' lines for Albacore
'Till the market went sour
We talked of strike for 40 days
'Cause the price was drove down
And when we finally settled up
We got less than a dollar a pound
I like the rumble of the diesel and the smell of the oil
I percolate my coffee off the radiator boil
I been chasin' tuna nearly 27 years
I got the eyeballs of an eagle but there's ringing in my ears
I like the rumble of the diesel and the smell of the oil
Granddad was a farmer but I couldn't stand the soil
I like to keep it simple; it helps to keep me sane
I like floating in the ocean it nullifies the pain
I was working in a fish plant in 95 and the song hit a little close to home they would go on strike every year and settle for next to nothing.
Pitched tuna till my arms went numb that year.
This sounds like Crash Bandicoot 2's soundtrack.
Wynona's big brown beaver
WOAH!
I have to wonder if Les is a bit of a Frank Zappa fan.
there is no doubt in my mind
"I really appreciate anybody who has any type of signature, whether it’s a guitar player or somebody who makes pancakes. It’s so rare to have your thumbprint really stand out from the rest of the bunch. He was a fellow who challenged himself and did what he needed to remain interested in making music and creating. I think that’s very bold because when most people find their comfort zone, they stick with it. He’s a shining example for guys like myself to take chances, and not be afraid to take those chances. His humor was amazing--“Dumb All Over” is still incredibly timely. It’s almost scary. He knew how to hit the nail on the head and still have it tickle your funny bone or bring forth this odd imagery that would border on silly. But, he would never get ridiculous to the point of where it would undermine his stature."[1] - Les Claypool, reflecting on Zappa's 70th anniversary on December 21, 2010.
So I'm going to say yes. If nothing else, he at least respected the man.
Insane Xylophone dead giveaway
Frank zappa inspired literary ANYONE that you have listened too, including the backstreet boys
not related to fishing but i do drive a big truck, and this fits perfectly to keep my odd brain centered at the wheel. perfect fit.
I,too know of people who drive trucks in virtual farm simulators..Some even drive trucks and vehicles for Mars rover virtual enterprises..

I remember my diesel drivin days
Primussucks for life! Claypool is the greatest!!!!
I saw Les live a few years ago. He came out wearing a different mask for nearly every song XD

And that shit is hard to do while playing bass
He held pretty steady when he played for us and his bandmates birthday. I am not surprised though, they had Alot of stage equipment to bring in. It was Charlie and the Chocolate factory blasted with Primus. It was incredible. Les Claypool was very steady that night and a really good showman.
post apocalypse won't be too bad if I can figure out a way to listen to shit like this.

He has a lot of that funky, unique Zappa feeling in everything he's ever done. Part of why I love the man!
