Amazing stuff. It surprised me how much emotion these songs could draw out of me while playing the game. The first time I played through "Black Dog" was on the radio as I was on my way to meet Hanako and I almost smacked myself when I realized that the song was about the relationship between V and Johnny.

@@skull28k80 and yes, you are right as well. These songs have a meaning within a game scenario. My personal thought is that they were primary made for scenario and narrative about their appearance in Cyberpunk world is secondary.

A black dog is also a metaphoric representation of depression. It is also the last song Johnny wrote before attacking Arasaka in 2023. The song itself could be interpreted as a struggle against depression
CDPR did a phenomenal job on so many levels.
They botched the release but have vindicated themselves, IMO.
The universe they constructed and the story telling that follows is incredibly beautiful on levels I don't believe I've seen in a really long time, even though its release wasn't what we had hoped for.
game was still good on release but way under our expectations , especially for console folks , late af but hell better late than never , I enjoyed it then , enjoying it now more , glad it's getting the proper recognition.

@@thebeancat4652 they did not construct the universe. It existed waaaay before the game. It is a TTRPG called Cyberpunk, the predecessor to Shadowrun. Both Cyberpunk and Shadowrun started as TTRPGs, then got books and then games.

This music is way too good to be merely a fictional band in a video game. I could say the same about most of Cyberpunk’s music but all of Samurai’s songs are just so good

Most of the song names got more major missions.the mission called “The ballad of buck ravers” was just some stupid side quest about buying some bootleg records from some old washed up fuck face. (I bought everything he had btw)

I remember when it came out that they got Refused to do the music for Samurai in the game. been a fan since shape of punk to come came out. They knocked it out of the park with these songs, and they really elevate the world, story, and characters.

I love the lyrics, I haven't even played cyberpunk yet and I am engrossed in these songs. I do have to admit that while some of the lyrics hype you up, some are completely depressing. All in all a well written album with rather emotional lyrics and great music score too boot
