So I'm 60, ok? Started listening to Primus off and on maybe five years ago. My son is 18 and just got into Les in the last year. I kept thinking there is something about this that really grabs me. I start reading bios and I see the Frank Zappa connection. I've been a Zappa fan since I was 18. Probably a lot of you out there are too. This guy is fantastic. So are Tim and Larry. Saw them in Grand Rapids last month. It's a pleasure to run head long into something like this. Thought my passion was waning. Just needed to realize they never stopped making great music.
51 here. Around 1993 I saw Primus' Mr. Krinkle on MTV. I couldn't stop thinking about it. Les Claypool is just incredible. Played some for a friend of mine a out a year ago. A couple days later he sent a text saying he couldn't get Primus out of his head! Quick trivia: after Metallica's bassist Cliff Burton died, Les tried out for them and it went terribly. The poor guy cried afterwards. All I can say is I'm certainly glad it didn't work out!
My son, Aaron, and I road trip and he pulls up Primus and Les up on spotify . We have a great journey as we will be driving for ten hours. We get a healthy dose of NPR Ted Talks to Cool out the driving. Lots of time to talk and be us. He's 23. I'm 65. My youngest. Plenty to learn from him.
Saw this at the The Fillmore in San Francisco 2010 incredible show he played Fisticuffs as one of the last songs and a fight broke out at the coat checker over a cell phone. First they try to control with tv now social media congrats it worked
This is a Great song in its own right which i was listening to one day at my parent's place and my mom comes in and says about that keyboard riff at the end "Wow is that Roxy ...i love Bryan Ferry" and i was like :/ "wut?!". So i investigated a bit and found Do the strand by Roxy Music which im guessing Les paid homage to but by god did that open up a new musical dimension for me. Mind blown. Roxy is awesome... So is Les...so are all you good people. Cheers
I do enjoy this, a lot, the bass solo's are beautiful, especially at the beginning, I love that live video with les claypool where some dude plays the saw.
Oh yes that could be why. lol. Les Claypools bass playing is freaking awesome, he has so much groove and soul, the only way to describe it is... holy shit that's a good bass player. haha. Hopefully I'll get to see them live some time.
On the cosmic highway to the moon We're on the cosmic highway to the moon The bays are loaded and the engine's well in tune Dad says at this rate We should get there half past June The earth is rather dreary Since we singed the sky On the cosmic highway to the moon On the cosmic highway to the moon Sensing arrival to be relatively soon Gaze out the window to the surface of the moon The earth is rather dreary Since we singed the sky On the cosmic highway to the moon And it's okay A thousand tiny voices softly say Do you wanna go? Do you wanna go? On the cosmic highway to the moon To the moon On the cosmic highway to the moon We're on the cosmic highway to the moon This trip we're taking has only just begun Had to leave the moon 'cause we used up all the fun The moon is rather dreary Since we singed our mind On the cosmic highway to the sun But it's okay A thousand tiny voices softly say I wanna go, I wanna go Onward, outward, upward to the sun To the moon To the sun
I asked her to play it twenty different times whilst phrasing the title twenty different ways... and the speaker never worked. Alexa does not understand this song.
Anyone know where the video about the future, using this song went? There was a cool video about how in the next 1000 years we'll go from us to incorporeal beings (obviously fictional, but some of the consepts were cool.
you do have a third eye and the more you open it the more you will thank yourself. follow these instructions very carefully : sail to south america, travel deep into the forest, find a native shaman to guide you through an ayahuasca ritual, come home and rule at life. simple enough right?

My favourite song from Purple Onion. I'm seeing him in like, 3 days. Holy shit!
@Martin Zamorano This is still the best PO song!

I was lucky enough to have a cool aunt that gave me a box full of even cooler cassettes when I was six. It really does change you.

Just a third eye
this very well may be the best song ever written...ever
this album kept me awake on many road trips, especially in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere trying to make the next show
To The Moon
Awesome song to play.
I dont know why, but I think this song is freaking awesome, especially at 2:22 when it gets faster, les claypool is beast.

Is anyone else hearing those odd glitches (like the one at 0:21), or is it just me?
i know i dont see how you could enjoy claypool and not enjoy this. you should listen to a live version with gabby la la
Best Les Claypool song ever.

On the cosmic highway to the moon
We're on the cosmic highway to the moon
The bays are loaded and the engine's well in tune
Dad says at this rate
We should get there half past June
The earth is rather dreary
Since we singed the sky
On the cosmic highway to the moon
On the cosmic highway to the moon
Sensing arrival to be relatively soon
Gaze out the window to the surface of the moon
The earth is rather dreary
Since we singed the sky
On the cosmic highway to the moon
And it's okay
A thousand tiny voices softly say
Do you wanna go? Do you wanna go?
On the cosmic highway to the moon
To the moon
On the cosmic highway to the moon
We're on the cosmic highway to the moon
This trip we're taking has only just begun
Had to leave the moon 'cause we used up all the fun
The moon is rather dreary
Since we singed our mind
On the cosmic highway to the sun
But it's okay
A thousand tiny voices softly say
I wanna go, I wanna go
Onward, outward, upward to the sun
To the moon
To the sun
I asked her to play it twenty different times whilst phrasing the title twenty different ways... and the speaker never worked. Alexa does not understand this song.
masterpiece♥️
Fuck Yes.
I think the cuts are fitting. I mean, this is Claypool. It doesn't need to make sense.
My third eye is now open it all makes sence now

Version 2.0. on the cosmic highway to titan?
@vonFelsenheim Yep, a brief drop-out.
The San Francisco sound at its best. But the skips suck.
Well that is if they get back together.
